what is there best and fastest way to get to Disney Springs from POR. We will be traveling the second week in March.

Best way: Boat. Nice scenic ride. Free.

Fastest way: Taxi. Little or no waiting for it to come.

We were at POR in December and used the boat to get to disney springs, it took longer than 20 minutes. They only filled the boat 2/3 full at riverside to leave room for guests at french quarter so we had to wait a while to get on and then it has to go to french quarter and dock there. Takes some time. It is a scenic ride and relaxing but if you're in a hurry to get there I'd maybe take a bus. We rented a car halfway through our trip, the drive from POR is literally 3 minutes.

Completely agree! We were so looking forward to what we thought would be a convenient boat ride, but when we were there the first week of November, they only filled the boat half way at Riverside to leave room for French Quarter. We didn't make the first boat and left a whole lot of people behind when we just made the second. And then, every single person waiting at French Quarter got on, no one left behind there. Seems a bit unfair as Riverside is so much larger. I believe there are certain times of day that they do not share, but when they do, I would definitely avoid the boat.

What time of day was this? According to this link, the POR and POFQ have separate routes starting at 5 pm:

(And the guy who maintains this site also maintains the POR and POFQ information threads on the resort forum, BTW.)

Our first time on the boat was at around 11am, the whole endeavor took well over 30 minutes from the moment we left the POR dock to getting to the dock at Disney Springs. We ended up taking a bus back to the resort because we didn't want to waste so much time. It was our first time at POR so I'm not sure if this is the norm or not or just a busy day.

The second time we approached the dock at POR and there was a huge line so we took other transportation, that was in the afternoon sometime, maybe 4pm-ish.

If you should decide on taking a taxi, ask where you will be dropped off. In November, we took a taxi from Animal Kingdom to Disney Springs. We were dropped off by Cirque du Soleil. If you are going to Market Place, it's a LONG hike to the other end.

Our trip was also mid-day, around 1pm as we were headed over to watch football at Splitsville. We never attempted the trip after 5pm.

Where at Disney Springs is the boat launch to the Port Orleans Resorts and what color flag do they use?

I believe the POR flags are yellow and it's the Marketplace boat dock, behind Rainforest Cafe.

We haven't stayed at POR in a few years, but I recall the commute itself (once you get going) to be about 20 minutes. Add onto that the time you spending waiting for the boat to come, and then the time you may have to wait to load POFQ guests if you stop there.

More precisely, the dock is located on the bridge from MktPl to SSR. The bridge entrance is between the Design-A-Tee shop and the bus depot.

Agree, our experience as well. It's a really nice enjoyable ride and big perk to the resorts, but if you have an ADR or set time to be somewhere, build in some extra time. If leisure, enjoy!!

We have had to wait for the next boat and we have always stopped at POFQ.

Also note that if the weather turns bad they will not run the boat and if you are already on it, they will dump you at the next stop. So here we were on our way from DS back to POR for our ADR at Boatrights and at POFQ they told us all to get off due to weather. So we are running on the path to the restaurant, at the next hotel in the rain .....

Was at POR last week and there was quite the crowd waiting for the boat at around 11 am. The dock was full by the boat, along the boathouse and up towards the path. Not sure if they let them all on, I don't think there were enough benches for those waiting. As an FYI, to give yourself time if need be.
