New DVC Member Cards coming next month.

Received ours yesterday also, both DH and mine.:goodvibes Surprised that there is a 2021 expiration on it?:confused3 So maybe I am missing something here, but wasn't the purpose of the new cards to prevent members who have sold their interests from being recognized as a current member? What then are the "checks and balances" of a card that expires in 5 years from now? The only thing I can think of is that when a member goes to use it as a discount or say for example to use at the Member Lounge at Epcot, that a computerized list will show if the member is a current member along with your photo ID of course? Really not getting the purpose of the issuance of the new cards other than it falling under the commemoration of 25th Anniversary?:confused3

The old cards had no expiration date. I don't think they wanted the expense of issuing cards every year, so used 5 years. I know they do verify active membership for ticket purchases.
 


Both DH and I eceived ours today in MA. I wonder how they send them out, a friend of mine who lives around the corner from me hasn't received hers yet.

Well, obviously Disney doesn't think they should be scannable.
 
Husband got his about three weeks ago,but mine is still out there! We are planning to be in WDW in 2 weeks,so we'll use his card I guess.:tink:
 
No cards for us, in MI. Latest DVC magazine shows an article on New Cards - and says to CONTACT MEMBER SERVICES if you have not received yours.... They offer a broken Web Link for this :).

So - we've done what Disney asked us to do, and EMAILED Guest Services. I really don't care if their web link does not operate as advertised....
