Is DTD now called Disney Springs or is Disney Springs a separate area? I'm confused.

But it's not the same. Much bigger, still growing, lots of new stuff, new theme and really looking good.

Westside has had some changes and Marketplace is mostly still the same.

Middle area where Pleasure Island was and parking lots are being built out.

Funny. I have been calling it the Disney Village Marketplace, but just today I caught myself finally calling it Downtown Disney. It took me THIS long, and I'm still wrong! Oh well, it's still MGM.

Ok, good to know. We made ADR for T-rex and I'm like what and where is Disney Springs?? LOL

Wow, just this morning I was trying to make reservations for 3 SIXTY ONE DAYS in advanced, and they did not have anything at all that day available! I ended up getting a reservation SIXTY FIVE DAYS in advanced. I don't even know if I'm gonna even get to go yet!

You know that they only give Disney a small number of their reservations. If you call them direct you can usually get what day and time you want without issue. AND there is no credit card guarantee like through Disney. Same for Rainforest and some other non-Disney owned restaurants.

Last time I went, it was for lunch during February, while it was cold and raining all day, and I was a walk up. ...THREE HOUR WAIT! And it took the people WITH reservations 20 minutes to just check in!

That trip was a last minute. Last minute in that I bought passes at a Disney store 3 weeks ahead of time. But I thought I was so clever. Bought magic bands, made fast passes, but COULD NOT get a reservation for Sci-Fi. I just assumed, new system, they probably don't offer any yet. T-Rex and Rainforest didn't have anything either. Tried to make a reservation at my hotel, and they told me there weren't taking any. So I'm thinking, they're probably saving spots for actual physical park guests. Went to DHS that day, ran straight to Sci-Fi, and they told me they weren't taking any more reservations! Walk ups only. Since it was still morning and I had a big character breakfast, I decided to come back later. It was TWO in the afternoon, and they told me no more walk ups, reservations only! I explained how hard I tried to get one, and that my daughter was only 2, and could easily just sit in our lap if that helps us any, and they were able to sit us after all. There actually was enough room for her to sit and have her own little space. We were lucky. But we shouldn't have to be. It was 2pm late February! Non peak time! I don't understand.

But this time, we're going during an off time too. Late Jan, early Feb. sooo many things are closed. =( Yet SIXTY DAYS in advance, Sci Fi only had one time available, and it was at 3! Today, I went to see if maybe I could get a dinner instead of lunch, and there was only ONE option, no dinners. It was for 12.30. SCORE! It's like they add stress so that your luck will seem "Magical."

This is one of my favorite tips. A Disney TA taught me this last year and it is a lifesaver.

What's great is that no matter what you call it, CMs know. "Is this the bus to MGM?" "Will this take me to The Disney Marketplace?" They never correct me, or say "No, this goes to [New Name]"
