DVC Dining-Will MS 'Merge' 2 different reservations at same resort?

We have a 2 night stay booked at VWL... and a one night stay at BWV for our last night. I just now waitlisted a VWL for our last night (will replace BWV reservation). All are studios..
My plan was to get the Deluxe Dining plan for our current 2 night stay at VWL...no dining plan for the BWV last night. IF my waitlist comes through will the 2 reservations automatically be merged together? That would require me to pay 3 nights of dining plan.
Or can I keep them as 2 separate reservations..even if we have to check in to a different room?

Thanks all!

Yes, they will merge the reservations, and they will cancel the dining plan and issue a refund. They will likely not inform you that they did any of this.

In the past 6 months or so I've had a couple of waitlists fill and MS did not merge them but that varies from experience prior to it. As supersnoop mentioned if they do merge them then they will likely cancel the dining plan. Once they are merged it is not possible to have the DP for part of the stay. If by some chance they missed merging then you probably could.

Kinda figured that was the case..
Is there a way around this? Such as changing 2nd reservation to my husbands name?

Yes they will merge them. Call ms after you see your wait list come through. I had to call them to ask not to merge them because of the dining plan and it wasn't a problem. I had already paid for dining one night so they saw that and didn't have a problem making it a separate reservation. Good luck

They probably won't merge them if they are in different names but even if you put the second room in your husbands name your name still needs to be on the booking and it will still look like an identical booking. If your wait list comes through they will book it merge it and cancel the dining plan.

They merged our reservations automatically. Definitely call MS. I imagine they would be accommodating.

Just a thought: If the reservations are not "merged" by MS...then you potentially could have to move rooms. Hence merging to join it all together. They will require you carry the DP if at the same resort, all nights in same room. Just another thought at an outcome you may not welcome.

No, they won't be accommodating. The dining plan is specifically designed for an entire trip. If you could pick and choose which days you paid for it, people would only get it for the days where they came out ahead. That undermines Disney's motivation for offering the plan, and violates the terms of the plan. They won't allow you to "get away" with it unless you actually have two completely separate reservations; different resorts or room types where you have to move.

It's been hit or miss but they often will merge them. one way to decrease the chances is to list the names differently.

I've had two reservations at my home resort - same names, same view, same size - since March. They haven't merged them yet!
