Don't give up and remember to check when you are on site!

I too have to agree with keep checking. We decided on Nov 24 to take a trip for the middle of Dec. (We are retired so we can decide to go on a moment's notice)
Got a reservation for our hotel with a little rearrangement of the dates we wanted to be there and fitting in as many grandkid's recitals, cheer competition, and choral concerts as we could.
Now came the hard part - getting those dining reservations. We wanted to do the Candlelight Processional package for the late show and do the Merry and Bright dessert party for the Osborne lights. We love Chefs de France and normally aren't able to get a reservation for the CP late show even when trying to book it when bookings open.
I entered the info for CP for after 5:00 pm (late show dinner time) for all the nights we would be there. All that showed available were restaurants that we have done so many times or restaurants that we don't want. I kept trying and finally a Chefs de France reservation for 5:20 with the late show popped up. Quickly snagged it.
Now for the dessert party! I have been trying for a week several times a day to get a reservation - no tables available. Finally early one morning it showed availability. I immediately clicked on it - and suddenly I got the "Paws" message to try again. Sure enough, no tables available. I kept trying every hour or less for the last 3 days when last night - up popped a table for the preferred night. Once again, I quickly clicked it and lo and behold, I got the screen to enter contact info, and better yet, I got the screen to enter payment info. And then I got Woody with the blue spinning circle saying processing and do not hit the back button. And the circle kept spining and spinning and spinning and spinning, etc. Finally I got a pop up asking if I wanted to still continue with the reservation. Clicked on yes and the blue circle kept spinning. This went on for 25 minutes - I really wanted that reservation. Finally frustrated, I did what it said not to do - I hit the the back arrow which got rid of the woody pop up and back to my payment info. So I clicked on the reserve button again, got Woody pop up for a second and much to my suprise - finally - a confirmation number! We did it!!! 2 weeks out and we got the exact reservations we wanted on the days we wanted them.
 
Yes, last year when we were at WDW we decided we needed a day off. I ended up cancelling a 5:30 BOG for 6 the day before and later in the week a 6 pm Akershus for 6. It was in December so I know we made some people very happy.
 
Go into MDE at 10 PM some nght in advance of your trip and pretend you are checking ADRs for tomorrow for whatever time you have in mind. You will be surprised what will pop up...just do not get excited and book it

This is funny because last night I did just that! I wanted BOG for February 7th - without reading I saw the 7th and booked it! I was so excited! I got online today to review my plans and realized I'd made an ADR for today!! I was able to call and the CM helped me cancel without a fee. Whew! Now I'll be more careful when booking. :)
 




Definitely keep checking! Within the past week, I've been very fortunate to find reservations at CRT and BOG during my upcoming "week after Christmas" trip (between Christmas and New Years... aka "really busy time of year"!)
