Disney's YACHT & BEACH CLUB RESORTS Information & Questions

Is $431 more for a water view worth it?? just did the bounce back offer for next July this is for 6 nights we will be spending more time at the resort kids are 17 & 20. thinking for that price I could add another park day only did 2 as I could always add more later. For my discount and my arrival that is all that was open if I come a day later I can get a garden view!! thanks!!

Waiting for park hours to open to see if I will need another park day as if they are open late we could go to the other one that night!!

just so torn about the view! garden is a step up from standard correct?

Not for me it's not. I've had just about every view available at both YC and BC. I've had garden view that was looking over the trees that separate the BC from Epcot, I've had water view that looked over the swamp. I've had water view that looked over the pool and standard views that actually looked out over the garden. I sit out on my balcony no matter what the view is so it doesn't matter to me, if you are staying at BC it's possible you are just going t have the little juliet balcony anyway.

Hi everyone! Haven’t had the chance to read any of the pages I have missed since we left on 11/14 but we had a blast on our first trip to BCV. We’re exhausted but it’s a “good tired”. We were assigned #261 which is a dedicated studio with a Woods view of the service road to Epcot. I got the text that room was ready when we landed. We could see Illuminations fireworks through the trees. I did online check-in but didn’t make any requests there. My phone-in request was a view of the Beach Club courtyard. It really didn’t matter much since we didn’t sit out on the balcony at all. Despite the view, we would happily take a “61” room again since it only shares a wall with one room and the other wall is against the stairway. The room is toward the end of a hall but extremely close to an elevator. VERY QUIET!

The good – MVMCP, Seven Dwarfs Mine Train, Toy Story Midway Mania, seeing the Osborne Lights for the first (and last time), food, and “meeting” Teena from afar. Whenever I saw Teena she was already busy with other guests and I was too shy to introduce myself. Best food of the week – Poland, Mango Margarita @ HH, Beaches & Cream, Rose & Crown, Cape May breakfast, Kona Café breakfast, Hoop-Dee-Do Review, and Biergarten. DH changed up the plan for dinner on last night and we went to Teppan Edo. Decent food but beware – it is extremely warm in the small dining rooms. There are 4 cooking tables in each room (heated to about 450-500 degrees) and there are 8 guests at each table.

The bad – although we didn’t plan it, we were at Epcot Food & Wine for closing weekend. Very crowded (which I expected) and a lot of drunk adults at 2:00 in the afternoon. I definitely indulge myself but I’m talking folks who had others helping them to “walk”… This was our first F&W expereicence so maybe we just hit it wrong but I was surprised by some guest behavior.

The “not so great” – varying levels of security at park entrances. We arrived within 24 hours of the Paris attacks (and actually attended a vigil in France at the conclusion of Illuminations). The time and effort searching pocketbooks and backpacks varied by park and by individual security officer. Sometimes, my purse was squeezed without looking inside while other times, it was unzipping each compartment and then using a flashlight and wooden rod to poke around inside.

I don’t have an answer as to what the right security level should be but just making an observation of what we experienced.

Transportation - $19 cab ride to Poly (including tip) and not more than 15 minute wait for either the MK or AK bus to arrive. We took the boat to DHS and opted to walk back that night (25 minutes).

This was our first trip as DVC members to our home resort of Beach Club Villas and we love it!! The 5 minute walk into Epcot is awesome! I did inquire about the refurb and they are still saying January 2016. Our room was in excellent condition (dated tiles in bathroom and hallway carpet has seen better days) but I want that shower curtain in my home!

Didn’t take any room pics but if I can answer anything, don’t hesitate to ask me!

Here is the cake that I ordered from Yacht & Beach Club Fine Dining. It was delivered to our room, per discussion with the CMs, while we were out at Epcot. We returned from Illuminations to find this beautiful presentation which is more than I expected (especially since all I asked for was “setup for two”). Cake was $68 but increased to almost $85 with gratuity, delivery charge, and tax.

It was a two-layer chocolate cake with chocolate buttercream between the layers and vanilla buttercream under the fondant. Cake was raised up by a wire cage under the linens. Everything on the table, including the Mickey candy sprinkles, was part of the setup. Cake was moist and delicious.

Note: When I wanted the linens, dishes, cutlery, wire cage, and delivery tray to be removed, the request had to be made by calling Fine Dining. Mousekeeping does not pick these items up.

I wouldn’t hesitate to order another cake from YC/BC Fine Dining!

Hi Dee!

The next time that you are updating the Be Our Guest list, can you please add our next trip:

September 18-23 2016 @ BCV

Thank you!

Please add us to the list...January 22nd-25th Std view CL. It's a girls trip and we are so looking forward to it. We did the Princess 10k last year, and realized we'd rather sleep in and enjoy each others company than run...lol. Can't wait!

Does the general manager Mim have an email address? I haven't wri a real letter in years!

It appears that the Ale and Compass room at YC now has the morning coffee bar, correct? Did BC get their own somewhere or is that the morning espresso location for both resorts?

Thanks Teena! Can you point me in the right direction so I can email?

I would just snail mail to the "General Manager" of the Yacht and Beach Club. Address is on first page of this thread. Or email to guest communications.

page 327-328

Can anyone who has recently stayed at BC tell me what colors of the new refillable mugs are now available at BC? Do they have all the new colors? We arrive at BC on Tuesday!

I just realized you are there now (or will be soon) so the info is too late for you!

Does anyone know if the new refill mugs have appeared at BC Marketplace for sale or other resort locations?

:goodvibes:

I just booked our 1 night stay at the YC on Valentine's Day. Have never been but have always wanted to stay at the BC but YC looks just as nice! So excited!!!
We have a standard room...What are the odds we might get a balcony? And, I think the YC is all refurbished right?

:welcome:

I'll add you to the Be Our Guest list we keep on Page 1.

:cool1:

Every room at the YC (except for one water view room at club level) has a full balcony (or patio for the ground floor rooms). So I would say odds are excellent! (It is the Beach Club resort that has full balconies in about 50% of the rooms)

The YC refurbishment has just started, and none of the rooms have been completed yet. Right now, the club level lounge is undergoing work. Sometime after that is finished, work on the rooms on club level (5th floor will start) and then the rooms will be worked on floor by floor from top to bottom.

I haven't seen a timeline for the work, but I suspect that during the time of your trip, mid Feb, the work will still be happening on the club level rooms, not any of the rooms in the rest of the resort.

Again, it is the Beach Club that has had the recent completed refurbishment.

:thumbsup2

Good morning!

We are having a great time!
Yesterday was the best - I was able to visit with Teena and we were able to see the Osbourne Lights one last time. Today is our MK day and tomorrow the Candlelight Procession

It has been a whirlwind trip!

While CBR is not the BC, we found out we really like it! We hated POR the one time we tried mod and didn't even stay there one night before we switched over, but we like the whole feel if the resort

Weather is great - 81 yesterday and same is forecasted for today

So glad to hear your trip is going well so far!!!

Just changed our March trip to a split stay 2 nights YC(March 8-10)/3 nights CBR!!! 1st time staying on the YC side and it will be my parent's first time at a Deluxe :) Looking forward to being at an Epcot resort during Flower and Garden.

Sounds like a fantastic trip! I'll add you to the list.

:cheer2:

Good Morning pretty people! This time next week my husband and I will be checking into BC for the first time. I'm so excited for this opportunity to take such a trip especially at this time of year and to celebrate with my husband, which is it's own special commodity. I will update and I'm sure take more pictures than anyone will need.

Congrats on single digit countdown!

:woohoo:

The importance of the view is a personal choice and is different for every family. For me, the view isn't a priority and I usually book the cheapest view available to save money. Garden view is usually not that much more than the price of a standard view so that may be worth it, but again, it is what you think is best for your family.

If you want to see some sample of views from the different view categories, check out the Beach Club View Thread and/or Yacht Club View Thread on the Resorts Community sub-forum.

Just popping in to say hello :wave2:

Been up to my eyeballs filling out college apps with my youngest DD and working like crazy, of course. Hoping everyone had a wonderful Thanksgiving!!

Hope you and your lovely family had a great holiday!

Fun times! Nate sent his apps a few weeks ago and has gotten one acceptance letter!

Beach Club?

:welcome: to the thread.

Do you have an upcoming trip booked?

I am embarrassed to admit that I don't know the answer to this because I am a coffee addict, but my drug of choice is straight black coffee so I don't pay much attention to where cappuccino or espresso type drinks are offered.

So, knowledgeable friends, can you get these at the Beach Club Marketplace?

:coffee:

so there is still a chance that the studios at BCV could be refurbishment by APril 2016? or no? I know this is all rumor! Really hoping for that murphy bed for younger son. will keep watching for any new info, and decide on packing an air mattress if needed.

oh and we are also in the college application process, ughhh Cant wait to fill out the Financial aid forms in Jan.
Given that the stated beginning of the refurb is Spring 2016 the only chance to a new décor is if they have any rooms completed in the category you have chosen and you get lucky enough to get one.
And remember, FAFSA is our friend.

I'm ok with an old room either way, we moved from WLV construction zone. We are booked in a Studio.I was just wanting the extra bed for younger son. He may end up on the floor for 7 nights.

And YES FAFSA better be good to us, better than Santa!

Thanks for the Welcome! Yes, we'll be arriving at BCV late Saturday, Dec 5th, for 5 nights! :) So if nobody else replies then by Sunday morning DH will have scouted around and discovered if they have anything right at BC. I'll try and remember to post back here on what we find. We're both mainly straight coffee drinkers but we've been enjoying the new espresso bars and at WL they even had Almond milk for a latte, which considering some places at WDW still only serve whole milk, not even 2%, was a very pleasant surprise. With so many things shared between YC and BC I won't be too surprised if the Ale and Compass location is meant for both resorts though.

Way to go Nate!!

I thought I'd be ok with Maddie going away as she's always been my strong, stubborn, independent child, but now.... not so much :sad1:.

oh and we are also in the college application process, ughhh Cant wait to fill out the Financial aid forms in Jan.

I dread the FAFSA forms and am hoping that now that I'll have two in college at the same time, maybe just maybe, the govt. will throw us a bone - I doubt it but one can still wish :upsidedow.

What I CAN tell you is that it is a 5 minute walk at a moderate pace between the YC and BC lobbies. I timed it one morning during my trip in August.

Thanks for offering to scout out the situation, and have a fantastic trip!

:woohoo:

Sorry asked and answered before - I know the YC rooms have an IPod docking station. Does it fit the version that is about an inch for the charger?
