Marathon Weekend 2016

I would keep an eye on this link:

Lately, we've been able to see bib numbers a couple days out before waivers are available. I'll keep poking around for waivers, but someone (*cough, cough* @mbwhitti) has me searching for Dooney design right now. ;)

Thanks for the link!

And that's totally an acceptable use of your time. @mbwhitti is not alone ... I think we all want to see that Dooney design!

Also, I've reached a critical part in my Dopey training ... the practicing of the waking up early!

At least I have the carrot of stalking a potential Skipper's Canteen ADR for Marathon weekend to encourage me to wake up "early" in the morning!

So, I could use a little advice from the awesome people on here...

I'm supposed to be going out for 3.5 miles tomorrow. Emphasis on out. My last run was on the treadmill, which I thought was a safer bet while I was still fighting a cold, but since I'm feeling a little better, I figured I'd go back to running outside (which I much prefer).
Problem is ... it's supposed to rain tomorrow (and Wednesday). I'm not sure that I want to be outside in the rain when I'm getting over a cold. But I really don't want to do the treadmill. Especially because I wouldn't be able to get on the treadmill until after 9 because it wakes up my brother and he's getting in on a late flight tonight (so I don't want to wake him up super early).

Any advice on what I should do? Should I go outside in the rain and hope it doesn't affect my cold? Or just suck it up and do the treadmill again?
I'm just really frustrated about this situation. Last year I had no sickness interrupting my training, and this year I'm on cold #2 ... which is something that never happens to me (seriously, I'm almost never sick more than once a year). I don't know what the universe is trying to tell me, but I don't like it.

OT, is the SF Women's half the Nike one? I really want to do that one some day, but those hills scare me. Also, you walked it faster than I've run/walked my last two half marathons. lol.

On another note, I think I've started to over think my running. Something weird is going on with either how I'm landing on each foot or the shoes or something. I'm getting shin splints, which hasn't happened since I just started running, or weird ankle pain. The shoes are relatively new, but I have run two halfs in them. Maybe I should go back to the running store? Or how do I turn my brain off and just run. Everything feels awkward lately (since Avengers).

Kathy, could it be all in your head? And I don't mean that disrespectfully. Running is more mental than physical and you were concerned about the marathon distance if I remember correctly. Now that it is your next race could your mind be playing games on you? Do you listen to music or anything that could help distract you?

It's all I can come up with for you. It doesn't sound like it's the shoes.

I would run outside. Yes it will be raining but rain doesn't make you sick. Just wear the proper attire and I think you will be fine for 3.5 miles. It's not like your doing a 20 mile long run. If you were at Disney and it was raining would you go to the parks in the rain or stay in your room?

We reached the end on the month which means only a few more hard weeks left of training and its time to post your monthly mileage.

Running Miles = 171.63
Bike Miles = 8.76

Hope everyone had a good month. The hard part is nearly over!

Running Miles = 236.3 (New PR!)
Running Time = 36 hours 30 minutes
Average Pace = 9:16 min/mile

Super excited for Sunday because it is my fitness test half-marathon. This will be my gauge for marathon weekend! :)

That's a good way of looking at it. Thanks!
Although, at Disney, in the rain, I try to stick to the indoor attractions as much as possible. I've never been a big fan of wet.

Oh, and since I forgot earlier ...

November mileage: 59.77 miles
That's a personal record by a lot. I also hit 200 miles on my shoes, bought new shoes (because they were on sale), got pretty darn close to 8 miles (7.78), and ran my first non-Disney race (a 5 mile Turkey Trot in 55:50). So overall, a pretty big month for me!

Also ... I think maybe I need to work on my race picture pose ... the thumbs up works, but I need to work on smiling and not just opening my mouth ...

What are we looking for on the link besides times from the past 2 marathons?

*IF* the recent trend holds true, in a week or so, that drop down will add 2016 and then the results database will be attached. You can search for your name and if you're running the Half/Full/Challenge your name should show up there with your Bib number.

This can tide you over until corrals are released - usually within a couple of days after this database is attached. For Disneyland and W&D, the bib numbers corresponded pretty dang close to the corrals from last year, but again - take that with a grain of salt.

Nice job! Mine was a PR by 0.62 miles lol. That's really a impressive number! I'm also running a half this weekend, but using it as a training run where the race will be ran at marathon race pace and a 5 mile warm up. Haven't put in enough speed work to PR, so sticking to the running plan wins. Good luck this weekend, I'm sure your going to do awesome!

How is it possible that we are now talking about November milage because tomorrow is December! This is getting real. I finished the month with too much turkey and pumpkin pie but am pretty happy with my milage. For 2015 I set a goal of surpassing 1500 miles and I am going to blow past that even with a taper beginning in three weeks, pretty stoked about that.

November Miles: 155

November 147 miles - about 30 short of what I wanted due to my butt/lower back injury as last weeks mileage was very low :( oh well!

Ran 3 yesterday in the snow, snow falling while running I think is peaceful (well until I choked on it as there were some big flakes coming down) I'm using some medicated plaster things on my injury that seem to help somewhat so I can get some training in, not sure on what kind of long run I'll manage.

Good job everyone else!

November 220 miles.

I'm 10 days out from Rocket City Marathon, so I've already started to taper. 1 more SOS (Something of Substance) run to go.

It's always amazing (and scary) how fast the time (and miles) go. Week 1 of an 18 week program with months of empty workout logs with blanks squares challenging you. Before you know it, week 17, with 4 months of workouts in the log book.

November!
Running Miles = 27.8
Running Time = 6 hours 34 minutes
Average Pace = 14:09 min/mile

This is pretty pathetic training considering this time includes a 3:15 half marathon. LOL. But, I do like the average page considering this included a 3:15 half marathon.

DOONEY! DOONEY! DOONEY!

It ABSOLUTELY could be mental and I wouldn't be surprised if it is. I just cant seem to re-find my comfortable stride. I do run with music; maybe it's time to find a new playlist and turn it up. :)
