Official 2016 Princess Half Marathon Thread

I like the shower cap idea! Thanks for that. I was also going to see if there were any custom Mickey ears out there. I'd likely just get a pink or purple skirt. I'm too cheap to get one and alter it such that I wouldn't wear it again post race;). I googled and found some cute ideas. Compression sleeves, one white one gold to work as a spout and pot handle. I might try making a tutu with alternating pink and purple.
Recently I have found that getting custom mouse ears made is VERY popular. Lots of sellers on Etsy, Instagram and Facebook...I'm sure you could find something.

Thanks @disneydaydreamer33!! :)

You guys will appreciate this. I ate a pink and white polka dot running Capri skirt and a whit shirt that says "this runner stops at all character crossings". I wore it to a race a few weeks ago and got a lot of strange looks from people. (I wasn't even wearing pigtails that day!). Fast forward. I wore it to the Disney Christmas parade and again the next morning to get on the fantasy. Not one person looked at me strange. It was like I fit right in!

Can someone (@Ariel484 ) post the link to the Facebook group where you buy/sell Sparkle Skirts? I cannot find it through all my searching! Someone told me it is invitation only?? TIA! :)

How is everyone's training going?

I'm having trouble keeping up because it's dark so early and even with the lights/headlamp/safety vest it's not the best to be running in the dark after I get home from work. Plus it's raining a lot this week. So far though my longest run has been 12mi so I just have to keep it up and throw in more back to back training runs.

It's going. Twice per week on the treadmill before work and twice per week outside when it's still light out. I know I'm going to question what the heck I was thinking signing up for a late February race 6-8 weeks from now...

I've got my 5K outfit together...name that Disney character (it's a loose interpretation)!

Very cute!!!

How is everyone's training going?

Mine's going pretty well. I missed a couple 30 minute runs but made up for them during the week. Then this past weekend, trying to get in the upcoming miles for this weekend (8 miles as I have two big commitments that will make it hard to get a run in. So I got my 4 miles for last weekend and my 8 miles for next weekend, for overall 15+ miles for the weekend. I am sporting an annoying cramp in my calf area now but I've been icing & rolling it to make sure I'm taking care of it.

My training has been non existent due to the tendon injury. It is feeling much better and I am trying an ASO ankle support brace to run in, so I may attempt a Christmas 5k this weekend. My half marathon is on the 12th so I am going back and forth on whether or not I should do the 5k. I don't want to reinjure it, but if I can't handle a 5k I surely can't handle a half marathon. But maybe another week off of it would help me do the half? Lol, these are the conversations I have going on in my head!

On a much happier note, I just ordered my first Sparkle Skirt! Just boring black, but I am still so excited to get it and try it out. Also bought one for DD25 (exact same one, lol) for Christmas. :)
Down the rabbit hole you go... :) Hope the tendon feels better soon. If it were me I think I'd just rest, rest, rest.

They are sold out of my size in the one I want :-(

Hope the tendon heals soon! :crutches:

How is everyone's training going?

I didn't do a long run last weekend because I did a 10k turkey trot on Thanksgiving which went really well. It was a pretty flat course and I beat my last 10k time by about a minute. I went to the gym for my second treadmill run last night after work. I've been battling a cold so I took it easy and it actually seems to have helped. Maybe I was able to sweat it out?! I get so sweaty at the gym - even with the built-in fan on the treadmill!

Well, in training for the PHM 10k, I'm supposed to be at 3mi, with a goal to be at 3.5 by Dec. 12. I'm proud to say, though you guys who do the half and full marathons have my utmost respect, that I did 3.5 last night. All be it on the dreadmill, but hey, it's cold out! LOL! I know, nothing to write home about but I feel good that I'm ahead of JG's 10k training program!

Running definitely helps me when I'm sick. I think just getting the blood moving and the endorphins going...clearing out the sinuses...it helps. Great job on your 10K!!

I once read that if you are congested you should go for a run because it will get the snot moving.
