Advice about February

Going for a short trip Jan 31 - Feb 4 and I've never been that time of year. (only been in June & September) What should I expect crowd wise? Weather? Any advice is greatly appreciated!!

We went that time of year in 2010. It was the least busy of all our trips - almost eerie in how quiet it was. However, that year was very, very cold too so that probably helped. (Not just Orlando cold - but real cold meaning getting down near freezing and not warming up much. We were freezing in our jackets, hats, and gloves). It's not usually that cold - it was a record cold and had been cold for weeks.

We have been to WDW 8 times in Jan/Feb.

Crowds will be some of the lowest of the year (however the lower crowds aren't what they used to be and I'm sure a thread will be started in Feb about how Feb 2nd was as busy as Christmas :rotfl:).

Weather can vary widely. You may have to wait to pack until right before your trip and keep checking weather. It could be highs in the 50's (lows in the 30's) or highs in the 80's (lows in the 60's) and anything in between.

We're going Jan 31 - Feb 8, so I'm very interested in this answer too. We're doing out FP+ reservations in just a couple days. I'm hoping the lines aren't bad, but I'm scared after spending time on the boards here. The last time I was in Disney was mother's day 15 years ago, it was super empty.

We are going feb 4 to the 11th and feb 16, 17, so following. I have gone in feb many ties(1o years ago) and always been low crowds

We'll be there Jan 31-Feb 7 at the WL.

We've also been that time our last 2 trips (2014 & 2012). The crowds are small - as low as they get these days. The weather, on the other hand, is a crapshoot. We've needed everything from jackets and hats to shorts and t-shirts.

We ad gone in January and February for all trips until last year
We are from wisconsin so we always enjoyed the warmer weather even when it was very cold for flordia
More things will be closed for referb only 1 water park will be open
Yes it will be less crowded but you may find more large tour groups and maybe the cheerleaders

We are there Jan 30-Feb 6. Also hoping for lower crowds than what I keep seeing here! 62 days!!!

We used to go the first week of Feb years ago and loved it. Very low crowds, although now I'm sure it is busier than years past, but still considered some of the lowest crowds of the year. We walked on rides over and over and at times it seemed we had the parks to ourselves.

Weather can be chilly, but nice for park touring. We wore sweatshirts and were fine. I actually prefer the cooler weather for walking around all day as opposed to the exhausting, blistering heat of summer.

As far as refurbs go, I would not let that deter me at all. Things are closed all year round, even in the busy season, not just the winter time anymore. It seems you wont find a time when everything is up and running.

Water parks were not a factor for us as we do not go to the water parks, but for some it might make a difference.

We are also traveling in early Febuary. Seeing as it's known as the slow season, do the resort musicians perform. Staying at Port Orleans French Quarter.

We have gone the past two years in Feb. and the crowds are a little lighter but not like "back in the good old days". The weather is tough with one day be record warm in the mid 80's and then two days later upper 60's with a strong breeze. The thing that sticks out to us the most was you didn't see people out and about at nighttime like you do in the warmer months. We stay at the BWI and in Sept. after Illuminations the crowds would stroll the boardwalk after and you would see a lot of people enjoying their balconies or sitting outside enjoying a late night drink or meal. In Feb. by 9:30 the place is a ghost town and it seems like everyone is snug in their rooms. The cooler weather I'm sure has a lot to do with this.

I love to swim and we are from the Northeast so I always have a day or two that are warm enough for a dip in the pool but it's really hit or miss if it's warm enough to lounge by the pool after. That said we are going back this Feb.(end of the month) and hated the all day rains that we experienced in Sept. 2014. I will take the chance of cooler days to that rain anytime!

I have been to Orlando in February exactly twice. One year we were lucky to get above 50 degrees on any given day with a 5 day trip. The next time (three years later) it was routinely in the mid seventies during the day and sixties at night. I agree with the PP about waiting to pack until very close to your trip and being prepared for cool to cold evenings.

I am going 1/23-1/27. Hoping for decent weather but realize it will be cooler than our September trips.

Going 1-27 to 2-6. As long as it isn't as cold as it was on our December 2010 I'm good! :earboy2:

Its going to be terrible... especially 1/31 - 2/4.... everyone with trips that week should cancel now, before fastpass day and before final payment... (that will be 4 people less in line in front of me... LOL! :rotfl2:)

I think we need to redefine the term "crowd" and "crowded" everyone who always goes in the "off" season and complains about it being crowded, should be forced to go during the summer and holidays, then they will go back to appreciating the slowness of the off season.

We are going February 3-7, sure hoping for mild and dry weather. I was there last year at the same time with a friend. Will be checking the weather forecasts leading up to the trip and planning accordingly. My aunt is flying out from California and has never seen WDW, so I especially want it to be wonderful weather for her first look.

Low crowds for sure, the weather has been fine for us, cold mornings but nice days. We are from Michigan though so we're not too picky on the Florida weather

As a child/teen we visited the area yearly in February since that's when winter break was. The weather is extremely variable. It could be 30 degrees or 80. Plan on colder mornings/evenings for sure but you'll want to check the weather report the week before you go to see if you need gloves/hats/winter coats or if you need shorts or somewhere in between. I remember very few rainy days. As kids we managed to swim at least a couple of days other than one year when it really was in the 30/40's the entire week.

After our September trip, which was predicted 1's/2's, this year I'm not sure there is such a thing as low crowds at Disney anymore, not as crowded as peak season, but still lots of people!

We are going on a Carnival cruise 1/24-1/31, flying in very early on 1/23 to spend the day at DHS in hopes of seeing Launch Bay and fireworks. Then when we get off of the cruise we are going to spend 1/31-2/2 at WDW. I'm hoping for a better crowds, good weather, and I'm determined to make it a great trip regardless of either of those things!

We have always park hopped since I've been going to Disney; however, we usually stay at the Boardwalk, so we spend most nights at Epcot. I love the ability to go to HS for the Osborne Lights at HS and then walking over to Epcot to watch Illuminations. I love the flexibility.
