See subject. Both shows Saturday night were cancelled. Feel bad for those visiting. Spoken to a few folks in the area and noone noticed much in the way of wind.

That happened to the 2nd show last Saturday as well.
We watched Fantasmic and we're waiting for fireworks. Finally a CM informed us they were canceled

It can feel perfectly calm on the ground, and the winds aloft can be really bad. Watch the balloon when they send it off. It can be interesting to watch it go straight up for 100 feet, then suddenly go off in one direction or another when it hits winds at the higher elevations.

Friday night they stopped the 9:30 show in the middle during the Under The Sea part.

It happens often. There are a lot of buildings in the immediate vicinity and if the winds are too high there is very real increased fire danger if embers land on roofs. Remember it is very dry here most of the time. The Orange county fire authority has very strict wind guidelines for the fireworks.

When we wait to see fireworks we keep our eyes up. Watch the tops of trees, watch clouds. Etc. doesn't matter what it feels like on the ground at all.

They were canceled when I was there 2 weeks ago. There were 2 warning announcements that they may be canceled or delayed. When they were canceled they still played music and projections as an alternate show. Maybe they don't make the announcement in the Fantasmic area or it can't be heard over the show, but I heard 3 announcements, so I didn't think anyone was that surprised when it did happen.

I don't remember much wind when we left last night, but overall the day was pretty windy, so it doesn't shock me that they were canceled.

Last night I was by IASW for the 6:30 show and they did not make the announcement there until after they did the alternate projection show. It got dark in the area like the fireworks were going to start. For the 9:30 ones I was at ROA after watching F! and they did make a few announcements right after the show about the chance of cancellation. The cancel noticed wasn't made until 9:45ish and I had already walked towards Main Street by then and I don't know if they did the alternate projection thing or not since they did not do anything on the river.

The first show they did announce that the winds were up higher and that is why they cancelled it. I wasn't around for the second but assume the same.

I was there on Saturday as well, hoping to catch the second fireworks display. I know they were really hoping they could make it happen, even going so far as to delaying the start time to check the wind again. It might have been nearly 15 minutes behind schedule when I saw them send the test balloons up one more time and you could see it was turbulent -- whereas you could barely feel the breeze at ground level. Too bad. But its good that safety comes before show.

Are you sure that wasn't the holiday show that they project on IASW during the overlay? I could see where if the announcement happens during that show the speakers in the immediate area might not get the announcement. But that wouldn't coincide with fireworks, so there would be another announcement at the time fireworks should have gone off.

The did the holiday nutcracker at 5:30 before the 5:45 parade. When the 6:30 fireworks were suppose to start they dimmed the lights. The projection of Walt showed up and then it went into the finale song and projections that show bits from every scene. It was very weird and unprompted. I first thought they were having a technical issue but then as soon as that ended a cast member said they had been canceled due to high winds. It was all very bazaar.

The 9:30 show was cancelled when we were there on the 21st. They did a short projection show on the castle, then we got to hear/see the Kiss Goodnight. At least we got something.

This has always been one of my frustrations with DL. Last year, it was cancelled two nights in a row. It's a terrible feeling to feel no wind on the ground and hear they cancelled it because of weather/wind. That happened to my sister a few weeks a go. The night they chose to watch the fireworks, they cancelled it. She was not happy and her son was crying because they had talked it up so much.

This is one of the reasons I love WDW. I've been at the MK there when a monsoon had come through and they still did the fireworks. I think there has to be a category 3 hurricane before they cancel there. But then again, they're not right on top of a freeway or residential zone.

Honestly, when you go to DL, if the fireworks are important to you, then you need to have a backup plan. We try to see them early in the trip in case they get cancelled and we need to try again.

I don't know when you switched, but that's maybe your best avatar yet. Love it!

I just switched a few days ago. Thanks so much! I really enjoyed the interaction with Chip and Dale. Thankfully she turned them both down! ;)
