Thank you!!! I just redid my booking and was able to save an additional $150! Every bit helps especially when you get addicted to club level. :drinking1:thumbsup2:rotfl:

Thank you!!!! I just rebooked, too, and saved an additional $81! Every little bit does help!

And, btw, I'd already rebooked 2 other times through Orbitz, each time saving even more. The original booking was around $1850 (still a vast savings over booking through WDW, even with the 30% off they offered me) and now it's $1650.

It is an inconvenience to go through all this--have to make sure the previous trip was credited to my card, have to make sure the right trip is now on MDE, have to nudge ebates to make sure I get credit, etc., etc., etc.--but it wasn't all that time-consuming and I feel it was definitely worth it.

Good luck to everyone!

I was booked with a lagoon view @ YC thru disney and thanks to this post I upgraded to Standard Club Level at the Yacht Club...AND IT WAS CHEAPER. THANK YOU!! I'll take CL over the view ANY DAY!

I saved $1002.59 off rack rates. Thats huge!

I am bumping this thread, as this Orbitz offer expires Nov 30th. Besides the higher 20% discount, the maximum cap on savings is $500, instead of the usual $150. If you are thinking of booking for the specified stay period, this is a really great offer.

I'm adding to this thread, even though this particular Orbitz promo code has expired.

I booked a week at AKL through Orbitz and saved nearly $400 over the price the res would've been had I booked direct through WDW, even with the PIN I was sent for the same period. So I was quite pleased with the purchase. All told, it's about 40% off rack.

But.

Yesterday I got an email from AKL telling me about the refurb that's going to be going on there during our stay. Since my reservation is through Orbitz, I can't call Disney directly to, for example, request to be moved to another resort. Instead, I had to go through Orbitz, and it was, to say the least, extremely frustrating (not just for me but for the customer service rep I spoke with, who not only didn't have terrific English language skills but who nothing at all about Disney). BTW, I decide to keep my reservation. Fingers crossed that we won't be anywhere near any hammering, stapling, or sawing noises.

So.

Next time, I'm booking through Disney, no matter how much more it might cost. Because when something like this comes up, I want to speak to a WDW cast member, not to an Orbitz customer service rep.

I thought you could get the proper disney conf. # and call disney to make changes.... I made an orbitz res.- and I can see it on my MDE account automatically... is that incorrect?

You do get the proper WDW confirmation number, and if you call Disney they can see the reservation on their computer, but they can't do a thing with it because Orbitz holds the reservation. This is what happened to me yesterday. HTH.

ohhh.... I see your point...very frustrating.

BTW, I eventually decided to cancel AKL. I was able to book another discounted res (at SSR) using my PIN code, but if I hadn't had that, I would've been unable to get a discounted room, which I might've been able to get had I originally booked through Disney.

Lesson learned.

Middy, I don't understand what your issue was. Why didn't you simply use the Orbitz site to cancel the Orbitz res and then make a new one? Only negative I see is your Orbitz discount would have gone from 20% to 15%.
How would booking originally with Disney get you anything different now?

Hi, DPickering,

If I'd originally booked with WDW directly at the time I booked, WDW now would have been able to transfer my reservation--using the same discount that was available then (25% off the room--the Orbitz 20% off was on top of that) for whatever's still available at another WDW resort.

Gee, that sounded very convoluted. What I'm trying to get at here is that had I booked originally with WDW, using the then discount (it was the winter offer, which I think was 25% off the room-only res), then when I received the notice about the refurb at AKL, I would have been able to get my reservation transferred directly by WDW, using the same 25%-off discount. I know this is possible since someone else on this board who was in the same position as I was, had WDW transfer their res. If you search my postings, you can find the thread.

As it is, I did cancel my Orbitz reservation and rebooked, however, the only reason I was able to get a discounted room rate for the rebooking was that I had a UOC for my dates. Completely luck there, since UOCs are luck-of-the-draw occurrences.

Hope that explains it! If not, write back and I'll take another stab at the explanation!

That's the same way I feel!

Ahh, k. No, that makes it clear. Ty!

One more addition to this saga! I ended up changing the reservation again--adding a day--and it was so easy to call Disney and get the day added to the res. I think it would've been nearly impossible with Orbitz.
