Do you think they will offer any "special" discounts on annual passes?

a couple years ago (I think in like February) they had a special where you could get a premium pass cheaper than a regular one....

What are the odds that they would off this again?

Well, according to Ken Potrock (sounds like someone on the Flintstones, doesn't it?) in the latest Disney Files, they have all sorts of surprises for DVC this coming year for the 25th anniversary. But he also said it was events and experiencesike the wonderful NYC Member cruise.

Maybe they'll come up with some ticket deal.

In February 2015, the price of an annual pass with DVC discount went up 10%; in October, it increased another 20%. I do not perceive that as a trend that suggests that any time soon there will be another special discount on annual passes for DVC members.

I wish that he would stop giving us events that we have to pay for and spend some time and money fixing a broken member services. I just found out that someone at MS canceled our next reservation and made it again using the same reservation number but they erased our room requests.

If I was a betting woman id be betting against discounted passes given the increases recently and the fact attendance is well up

I agree. With all of the increases and changes to both APs and TIW, I don't think we'll be seeing any discounts on these. However, I've got my fingers crossed for another cruise discount like they did in fal 2014.

Our AP's expire in just a few days. I've been hoping for a "deal" but realistically I doubt any will come along. Going to have to bite the bullet and renew, probably at a lower level of AP than we've had in the past.

I've been hoping for about six months now, bought a 10 day ticket, still hoping. All I got was now when we upgrade to an AP, we'll be paying more money for 11 months of days.

Disney will continue to push the line on "regular pricing" until the minute they see a trend of people NOT buying a particular pass/ticket...and then lo and behold, an "exclusive offer" will come a rolling out.

So what you shouldn't do is "bite the bullet and re-up"

The last two passes we bought were the $399 standard in December 2012 and the $469 premium in May of 2014...

Attendance was rising slowly at those times...but significantly at magic kingdom. So I would say that those were not "housing crash" promos.

When they roll the tiered pricing...I think you will actually - for once - see a customer backlash that they will be forced to reevaluate.

The combined 2015 "year of the exploit" will be too egregious for even wdw customers to not question just a touch...

...I think. If everyone is ok with $800 "discounted tickets"...well then I think I'm out.

We'll see.

It's a tough dilemma because they have significantly increased the difference between a renewal and new pass.

I got all kinds of harassing when ours were expiring...but I wasn't going to give a $2400 donation to Disney for something I wasn't using for at least a year. That's a crock of crap.

But I think that the better move is to let it go and make a vote with your wallet.

But again...that's tough...it's high stakes gambling.

I let my AP expire. For the first time in years I don't have one. I for tired of paying more for the promise of improvement. When they actually get some of the new stuff running I'll be back. (And Putting Fantasyland attractions in Epcot did nothing for me. No, I don't want to build a snowman)

I agree that if you aren't going to Disney in the next year, then you shouldn't renew. That's just giving Disney money. But, the renewal discount is good enough that it's worth it to renew even if you'll be missing a couple of months. It depends on your timing.

Boy they're trying to slot everybody into that new gold pass aren't they, and trying to limit the number of people with platinum who can attend during those 4 peak weeks. Although I probably wouldn't go during those peak weeks, I hate the idea of blackout dates. Decisions decisions.

Nobody "loses" anything...

Passes don't start until you activate them (within about a year depending)...so it's not an issue of losing time.

I just don't like the idea of "prepaying" for a 15% discount.

It's not enough of an incentive to reward them with discretionary cash that they do what they will with...

Like funding China, euro and golden parachutes

Renewal APs start on the anniversary date of the AP you're renewing, so it can be tricky to be sure you'll get full value from your AP if you're not planning to go until late in that year or not often enough in that year. So you can lose time in that sense.

Honesty...I had no idea.

And that is a 100% deal killer for me...

Oh "hell no"

For those of us who live nearby and visit frequently the AP is still the ticket.

I don't think anyone is doubting that...

But frankly, the last years changes makes all tickets suck for EVERYONE...
And I think the big dog is still yet to come.

I'm curious as to what people think should be Disney's way to handle the struggle of negative guest satisfaction due to the crowds. I personally believe this will continue until DHS and AK complete their expansions and can offer a full day experience.

I think limiting admission would cause an uproar for people who have purchased tickets and then can't get into the MK.

I think they have two developing problems:

1. Is pushing pricing beyond the breaking point to not affect attendance and revenues

2. The second is new inventory/ capacity to deal with growing numbers.

The thing that I would peg that they would want to happen is a slowing of "growth" in raw numbers while getting much more revenue per person...

I think all actions are moving towards that end.

So, let's pretend that Disney is trying to respond to negative guest surveys regarding crowds. They increase prices and there is a lot of rumbling but he crowds continue to come - even breaking records. What's the solution?
