The famous hot chocolate

Ok, so I have heard about the famous $15 hot chocolate but can't remember where you can get it. Is it the GCH or the DLH? We thought we might try it on this trip. And I know that you can get it in the lounge at whichever restaurant it is served at, so you don't need to dress up? We will probably just walk over from the park to try it sometime during the day or evening.
 
It's at Trader Sams. He has hot chocolate to die for! Like maaaan you will lose your head over it!
It is served in a mini Huna man mug. Another style of a mug they have too. It's Tiki themed, with snakes slithering about, and up and down the sides of the mug. Then, there is a zombie themed mug, that well you guessed it, has zombies on it. Quite gory really, and super awesome!
All hot cocoa is made with organic, 2% milk, which all comes from dairies whose cows are happy, because they live in sunny California and graze on nice green grass. Anyway, the cocoa is Drostes brand. It is delicious. All hot chocolate comes with a really cool marshmallow option. Shrunken heads or piranhas. Coming soon, mini marshmallow zombies.
Don't forget to ask for real whipped cream. Comes from the same happy dairies. Enjoy! And double yum!
 
We actually had their chocolate from the Coffee/Hot chocolate "bar" in the GCH lobby and it was absolutely delicious. Nothing like the watered down cocoa in the parks but the real hot drinking chocolate. It was near the Gingerbread house display. I believe it was only about $3.75 per 12oz cup and DH and I loved it so much. They serve coffee and have packaged holiday treats too.
 
Thanks for the replies everybody! I think the one I am thinking of is the one at Napa Rose that Mad Hatter Fan spoke of. Guy Fieri did a holiday special on food at the DLR during Christmastime and this was one of the things he featured. Looks really yummy! But being as expensive as it is, the three of us will share, just to get a taste. It comes with little desserts too. Thanks again!

We recently looked at the lounge dessert menu at NR and did not see the hot chocolate (it is more like dipping chocolate than hot cocoa) listed. It may be back on the menu, but be prepared in case the menu has changed.

It's seasonal, for the holidays, so perhaps you were there a little too early?
 
It was Thanksgiving Day, but I did wonder if the hot chocolate would show up when the menu changes from autumn to winter. Now I just have an excuse to visit the lounge to check again!
 
Why does this hot chocolate cost $15 anyway? Do the cocoa beans come from such a remote part of the world, that it requires a plane ride, two mule rides, a canoe, riding an elephant for many a kilometer, then some more canoeing, a walk in the wilds of the jungle, a jeep ride, another plane ride then parachuting into the big kahuna of cacao bean fields? If so, no wonder the finished product is pricey. lmao :faint:
 
I love that this turned into a hot chocolate superthread. I've already professed my love for the Napa Rose hot chocolate, but I'll add that I had the hot rum chocolate in the GCH lobby recently, and it was quite good. They also had a hot rum pumpkin chocolate, but I wondered if the pumpkin would be overkill. Has anyone tried it?

We dined at Napa Rose last night, our waiter said the hot chocolate is available from Thanksgiving to Valentine's Day. It should have been available when you dined, so the hot chocolate "season" started late this year.

Our party of 4 shared 2 hot chocolates, just enough sweetness to complete our meals.

It might have been because the Thanksgiving menu was a prix fixe menu without any additions. But they hadn't changed the lounge menus to show that the hot chocolate was available. Again, now I have a great excuse to visit the lounge again to investigate!
