anyone been to Aulani?

just for the resort, no.

But if you're doing Hawaii, it's well worth it (be advised it's expeeeeeensive)

If you're going to LA and Disneyland Resort, it might also be worth it doing the round trip to Aulani. (just like a disneyworld trip could be paired with a visit to key west ... same time on the road to KW as on the plane to HI lol)

but planning a trip halfway round the world just for the resort ... only if I was filthy rich and had nothing better to do.
Just like a Brit probably wouldn't fly to Japan to do 3 days at Tokyo DL without visiting Japan as well.

We didnt find hawaii prices for food etc that expensive

Fresh fruit was though so had chocolate instead lol

Price for ONE banana at aulani ..... Good job I didn't mind these

Thanks, that's what I thought. it is a long way, but even as an add on to a California trip it is another 4 or 5 hours flying time I think.

Hi it was supposed be six hours but we were there in five
We flew home from vancouver
TBH I think if you want to go to aulani then make the whole holiday hawaii on the first time but stay wakiki beach etc

Thanks. Yes, I read Corina's trip board but wanted some other perspectives. The Disney Hawaii cruise with Aulani would be amazing!

It really was ...... I know we were very very lucky

I would think of staying at maui as well

Not from UK but Netherlands, so pretty close ;-). We did the nCL Hawaii cruise followed by a week Aulani stay last May. Loved it! I have a blog but it's in Dutch. I still need to make our photobook :-(

We did the same trip but the other way round a couple of years ago.
We did a week at Aulani on our DVC points. We had a car and toured a lot of the island. We found Aulani restaurant prices a bit steep so we went out sometimes in the evening either using the car or walking across to the small mall opposite the Marriot. The resort is beautiful and would be great for small children.
The NCL cruise is excellent. You visit two ports on the Big Island (Hilo and Kona) then an overnight on Maui and an overnight on Kauai
A fabulous trip but probably a one off. It does make watching Hawaii 50 more personal!!

that made me laugh .... Dh and I love hawaii five o even more now because we point out places we went to lol. Dh managed to have photo taken outside their HQ but his i phone broke so lost the photos :(

I love Aulani but I can't stand Waikiki area one iota....it's so horrible it stresses me out. I only ever go to the Shopping Center, Airport or Aulani in Oahu.
So for me I would do a visit to Aulani with hiring a car to get back to the shops and buy supplies (we stay in DVC) or at most one night in Oahu near the main shops to do the shopping but then the rest in Aulani.
I'd then spend a week in Maui at somewhere like the Westin Villas to relax and chill as Maui is much much more beautiful with lots to do and is way more relaxing and Hawaiian. The best Luau is at the Westin Resort.
Then a day trip or one night to the main Island to visit the volcanos. Bear in mind Hilo is a bit of a dump so it's really not anywhere to stay. You just go to the big Island to see the Volcanoes National Park and you CAN fly in the morning....hire a car and drive it...and fly out that night and still see lots and wander. So you don't have to stay.
Kauai isn't as much to see but one day I'll visit.

Sorry to hear about the lost photos.
If you can use photoshop I could send you one of me in front of the statue outside the "HQ" for you to alter.
If your DH is early 60's, greying hair, specs and knobbly knees then you can just use it as is!!

I found wakiki beach area busy but certainly not horrible. I would go back again. I think it depends what you want

Maui was beautiful and we really enjoyed old lahaina luau :)

I must admit I was not impressed with hilo and the weather was awful :(
