i was wondering how the first merry mixer was this year. For the first time I will be able to attend one in December. Was wondering what I could expect? Do they have any characters there?

We went on Tuesday. This was our second one; we went last year and had a great time. This year, not so much. My big mistake was getting in line for the characters. Last year, we skipped the characters, so I thought we should try for them this year.
We arrived at 3pm, but the line outside was so long that it took 15 minutes just to get in. There were 3 sets of characters: Donald & Daisy to the right of the entrance, Lilo & Stich to the left, and Mickey & Minnie in the far corner. My DD11 wanted L&S, but I figured we should do M&M first. Wrong. We waited almost an hour in line for M&M, and then when we went to L&S at 4:15, a CM had closed the line and guarded it for the rest of the party, so no Stitch for my DD. And we spent more than half the party waiting in line.
They do sell some merchandise, and that line was not as long as last year. They had more pins last year, as I recall: LE for the mixer, DVC, chase visa, AP,... This year they only had DVC pins, including the one for the mixer. They did have a lot of DVC merchandise, though: shirts, scarves, and the Vera Bradley and Dooney & Bourke bags.

Yes, it's shaped like an ornament. It's already on ebay if you want to have a look at it. (I'd post a picture, but I haven't unpacked mine yet.)
