2015 Planning Disney Parks, Cruises, Universal & NY - Did I forget anything? **We're here! Upd 02/01

Is it only just over 1 week before you leave, that has come around quick!

Under a week now! this time next week we will be 10 hours into our flight, hopefully sound asleep and soon to be woken up for breakfast before arriving in LA.

We did some shopping on the weekend to prepare for the cold weather in DC & NY at the latter part of the trip. 4 more days of work to get through...so over that!

We head from LAX to Anaheim and doubt our room will be ready so plan to hit DL park. Seeing Main St all decorated for the first time, just might bring a bit of a tear to my eye LOL

Our plan of limiting ourselves to 2 suitcases, with a smaller, third to use for our purchases on return packed inside one of the larger one, was a fail! We now have three large with a fourth packed inside one of those three. All the cold weather gear for Washington DC & NYC filled one suitcase easily on its own. Most things are packed now. Technology will go into backpack morning of (tomorrow). US sim cards set up. Work emails turned OFF :) Soon time to just relax and let it all unfold and enjoy.

We did book a sleigh ride for our last night in WDW. Not something we have done before so will be great I am sure. It's one of the few things that my DS hasn't been involved in with the planning, so he will get a big surprise and a kick out of it I'm sure.

It doesn't quite feel real yet,I'm sure that will change when our pick-up comes tomorrow though.

Hope all goes well with your flights.

Your sleigh ride is 17th December. What time did you book. We have dinner at Trails End at 5.30 so might see you near there.

If you are lucky you might get to see Dave The Castle Guy. Ask the sleigh driver if he is there.

Read the link and it will give you the history.

You decided to do dinner there. You will enjoy.

Have a great time.
We leave in the 16th, dreading the packing lol.

the packing was truly a bummer, but it's done now:crazy2:. I just said to DW, if we got it, we got it , if we forgot it, we forgot it. We can't do any more now. Technology is all packed and loaded with enough entertainment in case I don't like what they have on any of our flights. Pick up is around 8:30 so we will have ample time to get to airport and get through check-in and immigration. Once we get to the lounge I think everyone will be suitable relaxed and ready to go :)

Well we are here!!! :cool1:

Flight went well, service on VA was impeccable. They really looked after us top notch. Arrived into LA 30mins early, even beat some of USA Immigration to work we had to wait for a few mins at the gate before they let us disembark. A record quick time through Immigration. Hit some traffic on way to DL but arrived at 7:21am. Hit California Adventure soon after. The crowds..wow - what crowds??? nada. I mean there are plenty of people here of course but I was expecting it jammed packed and it is nothing like that!! loving it! Spent half day at CA then had some lunch at DTD and then waited for room to be ready in the Lobby as we had hit the wall. Longer wait than we would have liked, but was still before the official check-in time of 4pm so can't complain :)

I had read a fair bit about which rooms, floors, locations not far from elevators or down the very very long corridors) were people's fave in Grand Californian Villas and that people made requests ( no online checkin for Grand Cal) to get these. Well I never got around to any of that so figured we would be back of Burke. When we got out the lift, turned left our room was like a few down, then open the door and looked straight out to Mickey's wheel and Paradise Pier. WOW we did very well. We watched WOC from our balcony last night! Just goes to show, sometimes you just get lucky!!

WOC from our room. yes it's obscured and you would not *just* watch it from here, but as a first night when we were tired it was very very nice to see again from the comfort of our room.

The Family is sleeping in while i write this. We are heading to DLR today and then back to CA for lunch at Carthay Circle and seeing WOC from viewing area tonight.

Weather is great, chilly, DW was very cold when we stepped out of airport - don't know how we will cope later in trip LOL but that's for later!

Have a wonderful trip. Enjoy all the Christmas decorations!

Thanks SafferMom. The Christmas decorations at DCA were actually a little under stated I thought, nice don't get me wrong, but I was probably expecting a lot more. I am sure DLR will be different. We will check that out today.

Are you seeing a show in NYC?

We do plan to, have too many on our list so far so have to choose. Les Mis, Matilda, School of Rock, just to name three!

Have a brilliant trip. I'd love to spend another Xmas-time there.

Thanks Aussie Wendy, it's started off great!

Congrats on a great room - I normally just wing it too - sometimes you get lucky. I love your views. Enjoy your lunch at Cathay and DLR. We haven't ever seen WoC so always interested to hear others impressions - one day!

Good you made it Ok and got a nice view from the room. Great photos.
