I am considering going the gift card route to save a little money I have seen on here about people using raise to get target gift cards but I just read on the one i clicked on that the gift card cant be used to buy other gift cards so how does it work and what is the best way to get gift card discounts for disney and hilton if possible and if there are visa gift card discounts??

The Target gift card cannot be used to purchase other gift cards. However, in the Target system, Disney gift cards are not gift cards - they are identified as "entertainment cards".

I'm not sure whether you can actually use the Target gift cards at the store to purchase Disney gift cards, but I do know that there's a loophole on the Target online store that allows it to be combined with the Red Card 5% off discount.

Target considers Disney gift cards as entertainment cards. that's why it works. I just started doing that a few weeks ago to save for our upcoming trip.

It does not work in store. Only the portion paid on your Target CC will receive the 5%.

Be careful if you're going to try this. Convert your Target gift cards to Disney cards quickly as you purchase them. Target could reclassify Disney cards or close the loophole, and you might not want to be stuck with a bunch of Target cards.

I'm confused.
So you can buy discounted target GCs on Raise. Then use the Target GC to buy Disney GC right? How do you still get the red card 5% if you're using a gc to buy the gc?

When you register on the Target website, you put your Red Card as your default payment for all orders. Then when you actually make an purchase (of Disney Gift Cards) when you go to check out, you enter that you are using Target Gift cards to pay and enter the information for them. The 5% Red Card discount comes off and the final amount (the lower, discounted amount) gets deducted from your Target Gift Cards. I've not done it myself, so I may have missed a step.

Thanks. I know you can't combine gift cards and the red card in store and I think that is what is confusing me. This is only online right?

i was curious about this too thanks!

Two issues with buying Disney gift cards online through Target. One, they can easily get "lost in shipping." They ship UPS, which then delivers them to a post office for final delivery through the mail. I had to wait almost 2 months before my card was considered lost, at which point my money was refunded. It's a fairly common problem. I have since read that you can get around that issue by clicking 'require signature' at checkout, which I guess bypasses the post office and UPS delivers it to you directly. The other issue is that sometimes a card is not activated before it's sent and that is a royal headache. If it happens in store, no problem, but online is another story. It happened a lot last year at this time. I decided ordering Disney cards through Target online was not worth the 5% savings. I don't use Raise or other gift card recyclers and I don't buy large amounts dollar-wise so the savings might be more tempting if I did.

If your not using a gift card thru raise can you not buy the Disney gift cards thru the store? If your only using the red card? or they dont carry them in the store?

Oh yes, you can. I was just saying that I don't like to buy them online after having 2 separate transactions disappear in the mail. Now I just buy them in the store and forget the red card discount. I usually get a good deal on the Target cards through mypoints anyway...often free! I don't mind not getting the extra 5% off :)

Yes! That's what I did to buy my AP. I got $600 in Disney gift cards from Target and combined them on DisneyGiftCard.com, but using my RedCard, I effectively only paid $570 for my pass. Plus, doing it this way allows you to save up the money over a period of time, instead of spending it at one time.

Forgive my ignorance, but what is the benefit of combining goft cards on Disneygiftcard.com?

AND....up until a year ago, Target would allow the 5% Pharmacy rewards certificates to be combined with the 5% Redcard, so 10% off, but sadly this isn't allowed anymore :( I have heard of customers talking to managers and getting overrides....but I've never tried it myself.
