We are planning a trip in 2017. We have a autistic family member who will be 8. Does anyone know of any travel agents that specialize in special needs trips to disney ? And does anyone know of any respite care for special needs for guests at disney ? . I've seen a few that are associated with churches. We are looking for a "helper" I the park for assistance.
Thank you in advance

I haven't used them, but I have read reports of people using Kids Nite Out. They are a babysitting service, though i've read reports of some sitters being former special ed teachers. I suppose it may depend how much help the child needs if this organization would be appropriate for his care. They can also be hired to accompany the family in the parks as well as evening babysitting at the resort.

Enjoy your vacation!

The admin that runs the Facebook page "tips for special needs at Disney" is a Disney travel agent and I believe she exclusively deals with special needs. I have not used her so cannot comment on her services.

I have two with DS and we have used Kids Nite Out and they were FANTASTIC!!! I would highly recommend them.

KID'S NITE OUT, "the 411":
1) Disney recognizes three different in-room baby sitting services, including KID'S NITE OUT.
. . . the list and brochures are available at your resort Concierge Desk
. . . we will not make a specific recommendation, just give out the brochures
. . . it is the guest's responsibility to make the contact and the arrangements, although we might place the call for the guest
. . . it is not mandatory, but please consider a 15%-20% tip to the sitter (usually an older or retired woman)
2) These services charge by-the-hour, with usually a 2-hour-minimum.
3) You need to verify the type of service you need/want
. . . some restrict the sitting service to the room
. . . others restrict the service to THAT resort
. . . others will take the kiddies to other resorts, Disney Springs, or even a park
