i finally was frustrated enough to write a not so kind email to Disney the other week. I express my frustration that they penalize families who travel during the holiday. Mind you this does not effect me. But irritating none the less with the new AP. I was angry about Star Wars weekends. I'm sorry don't post it on your website coming 2016 if you have no intentions on doing this. My autistic daughter loves stars wars and would check the Disney website frequently for updates. I suggested maybe Disney could spend their millions on an accurate website. Or better yet advertise Halloween and Christmas and yet make a blog that they are removing it...I believe I called it tacky. my frustration runs mostly around my autistic daughter who was looking forwards to this. And now does not understand that Disney lied.... Today I get a phone call from DVC and would like to talk to me about my email. I'm thinking really....you don't want to hear what I have to say. thank goodness I love my DVC time share. However I am not happy with Disney parks choices right now

Higher prices during holiday travel is typical everywhere. That complaint will fall on deaf ears (rightly so IMO). Star Wars weekend is a more valid complaint since they did say "coming in 2016". Unfortunately, this will fall on deaf ears as well...

I am confused. First off nothing you have mentioned AP and Stars Wars are things DVC has no control over. One is the ticket division; the other is parks.

I understand the disappointment but not sure they lied. A change of plans due to construction is not lying to me. Have you not planned something before and had to make a change to your plans?

They continued to promote SWW and would state that they were having it long after the construction was decided on - even up to the day before it was mentioned as a side note in a blog. Pretty poor show IMO. None of the main areas used for SWW are under construction either. They were shifted last year already. Unfortunately it's nothing new for Disney to be slow to announce plans compared to the time frame they really want guests to make plans. :sad2:

Exactly how are families penalized for traveling during the holidays? Are you saying only families pay the higher costs?

If your daughter wants something similar to SWW why not plan a trip during Seasons of the Force? It is suppose to be very similar to SWW from my understanding just not a weekend.

No parade, no celebrity talks nor celebrity autograph session nor the Disney star wars characters. Seasons of the Force is Star Wars but it's really nothing like SWW. But you are correct that it's the best Star Wars related option for the moment although just a shade of SWW.

Maybe the OP could help her Daughter focus on other Star Wars changes at WDW. Explain that sometimes that things change but when the get done with construction it will be much better, fun, and exciting.

I have a special needs god daughter with Aspergers' - for those who don't know, that's on the Autism spectrum. Love her a lot but totally understand the OP's frustration.

It is difficult to impossible to make those suffering from Autism understand. They obsess. They can't help it and they aren't easily distracted from the obsession. OP - hope something works out for you.

My son worked for Guest Communications for 2 years, in offices located behind Hollywood Studios. His position was to answer emails, call guests, and resolve problems. I can tell you this, and I'm being frank here, a letter like yours would probably go straight to the trash. Even though they answered, there is nothing they can do. He used to tell me, the guests that got successful resolution is when they have one specific issue, and one that can actually be resolved. He used to do all kinds of things for people, IF THEY"RE NICE ABOUT IT. The minute people start ranting, and go off on all kinds of things that are bothering them? boom. Their attention is gone and on to the next guest. They are just that busy. So, in the future, if you truly think that something can be resolved in a reasonable manner, go for it. But trust me, be kind about it, treat them like you want to be treated.

I don't see the complaint for holidays. I'm assuming you're talking about the new ticket prices and/or higher points to be DVC related. The change once announed for SWW is a valid complaint but to say they don't have the right to make this change once announed would be over the top IMO. Personally I don't believe individual situations should drive such issues because they are always handled in an inconsistent way.

While the situation is upsetting for understandably, it is within Disney World's right to change things. With a large company many might think that the company should do better, while at the same time being a large company can make it difficult, when it comes to changes. As far as "Disney Lied" we can agree to disagree. Did they change their business yes. There are times when they expand things, add hours in the AM etc. They also will close and discontinue things as they see fit. I am not in your shoes, but hopefully you will be able to address it with your Daughter that things changed ( I have friends with kids who are on the spectrum so I know it is easier said than done). If you continue with your trip hopefully you will enjoy some of the Star Wars things such as Star Wars Launch Bay.

I totally understand about the holiday ticket issue. We have the DVC annual pass, which expires for us in June. I know that this is the last time I will purchase an annual pass because the blackout dates for the annual pass that costs about the same as my current one correlate perfectly to when we typically visit. This is when northern schools have breaks. Our vacation this year is Dec 18-23. So, we aren't doing that again. Spring break is last week of March. That's a blackout date as well. Frankly, it's not worthwhile to get the higher cost past, so, we just won't get one. Might sell our DVC contracts as well.

I think best think original post can say, with a positivity attitude, is the frustration with having to book DVC 11 or 7 months in advance while the Disney Parks keep changing key events in significantly smaller windows. Not that she will get resolution of this year, but it will at least help them understand their customers.

I'm going to extend the benefit of the doubt and say that NOBODY is this naive...

Yes many people do think that DVC controls all of Disney World. I see it all the time on Facebook.

What I meant was that I don't believe there is anyone who thinks that all decisions with anything Disney owns isn't part of a
Unified strategy.

Dvc may be accounted and set up as an separate entity...but it was created and is maintained to funnel dollars into the themepark business and really little else.

All ticket decisions are made after they predict reaction down to a 99.9997% certainty...including with DVC.

If that was true there would be no off site locations or trade outs. I know it would surprise many on here how many members regularly use DVC to trade out. It was even mention in the most recent Disney Files.
Day guest, even those staying off site, have more influence on ticket prices than DVC members ever will. DVC can try and negotiate a discount for members but that is about all they can do. It is a numbers game and there are simply not enough members to influence it greatly over the millions that attend the parks.

I would never complain to DVC about tickets prices or changes to park schedules. I would go directly to those that make the decisions for those.

Those things are "necessary evils" as far as Disney goes.

They don't want you anywhere but at a big fat wdw/Disneyland hotel.

There's a reason why your points are most valuable there in the point structure.

In 25 years...there's a big fat 3 offsite locations...
And exchanges have to be tolerated for that reason...they don't have a big enough web to cast to maintain illusion.

I do agree that complaining to DVC about tickets is of limited effectiveness...

Most times these type of complaints are either dismissed or laughed away behind the walls. I've been there myself.

I should have made it clear. I did not write the email to DVC. I sent the email to, Disney directly. I thought it was odd. That a DVC representative called me. She listened to my concerns, expressed they take guest input "serious".
