Where not to stay offsite?

I'm missing a couple of nights for my stay. Worse case scenario is to book something last minute, off site. Is there a thread of places that you might not want to stay?

I don't think there is, but I would avoid staying near Old Town. We try to stay in the Lake Buena Vista Area. There are also parts of Kissimmee I would avoid.

Stay away from the 192, Marriott village is not that good and certain parts of I drive.

Personally, I wouldn't stay anywhere for under $50 a night. I know some do stay at these places. I am not a germaphobic but they just give me the creeps.

ETA: There are exceptions.
For a very basic hotel that is in the lower price range, I have stayed at Champion Resort. Cheap room, very basic, nice pool... was very happy with the stay for a basic one night stay. If memory served we paid around $69 (military rate) for one night.
ETA: The funny thing is I just looked at their website and their price shows tonight at $49 for tonight.

Qty Item Type / Room Type Total Rate Total
1 Room Standard Double Room $49.00
Resort Fee (per night) 7.00
Room Tax - 13.00 % 6.37
Total $62.37

Another cheer family recommended the place to us for an inexpensive place to stay near a cheer competition. So they said their stay was fine so we booked it.

A couple years ago our return flight was cancelled due to weather in MN. We were "stuck" in FL for 2 extra days, but our WDW hotel was booked. The only place we could find was the Ramada Davenport Orlando South at 27 and I4 - which was a dump.

If you're going to WDW, I'd avoid I-drive. A lot of traffic on that road and a long travel time to WDW. Try to book as close to WDW as possible. There's a lot of perfectly reputable hotels to fit any budget. The user reviews on Expedia are what I consult before booking.

We just got back from a four night stay at Main Gate Resort and Spa. We needed somewhere cheap but we are picky. It had pretty good reviews so we took a chance. Let me tell you, we will be back. If you just need a place to sleep and aren't bothered by motel style entrance (outside entry) this is a good place. It's on Irlo Bronson, which gets a bad rap - BUT, it's SO easy to get to Disney property from here and very quick (1 maybe 2 miles from the exit). There are plenty of places to get food around the area. And other than being gaudy, I didn't see anything wrong with that stretch of the highway.

Now, back to the hotel. It's a renovated motel...could have been a Day's Inn or Best Western back in the day. You can tell it's still a work in progress, but the important things to us are: safety, clean (carpet cannot be icky feeling!), odor free, air has to work GOOD, bathtub/shower in good repair, and very most important of all the beds have to be comfortable. Maingate has check marks for all of those.
