We have already booked our stay for next August 14-16 at the Hard Rock Hotel. Will this give us enough time to do everything at both Universal parks? We have been but it's been several years and there are a lot of new rides. I'd also like to be able to enjoy the hotel too. TIA!

Pending your check in and check out time, you can make a decent dent into things. Everything, plus hotel time might be a stretch, but definitely a wonderful time.

We always do two nights at Universal and it gives us ample time to do things in both parks and City Walk, but we don't have much time as we would like at the resort sometimes. Last year, we did three nights instead and were able to dedicate an afternoon to the awesome pool at RPR!

This thread just inspired me to change our original 2 day Universal stint to three days ... I guess someone needs to tell the Mrs. -- hmmm -- that's going to be a bit awkward ... went ahead and changed the flight already.

As they say, it's easier to ask for forgiveness than permission. :love2:

We did a 9 day Uni stint two years ago - stayed at HRH club - loved the hotel, but didn't care too much for the pool, too shallow - like walking into a warm bath .... and I like warm baths - but everyone's different. I think you'll love it.

This time were trying RPH; loved the PFH pool and probably would have stayed, but with our other plans, gotta save a couple of bucks where we can .... hence the forgiveness / permission comment :jester:

Uni was a last minute add on .... that just got a little longer ... wish me luck everyone :teeth:

Three days would be a minimum amount of time for the parks, to do them any justice. You'll have Express Pass which is good for most things......Both main Potter rides Forbidden Journey and Gringotts along with the HE are exempt along with Twist and Hurl, Pteranodon Flyers and the wand experience.

Are you going to have park to park tickets on your visit? If you're at all interested in Potter you'll need that ride to ride the Hogwarts Express.......it's fun for even non Potter fans.......

Have a look at the park layout at www.universalorlando.com

Website will give you an idea of everything you'll want to do and things you may not be interested in, that could save you a bit of time since you are pushed a little.

Hi shumigirl,

We were there shortly after the Gringotts open two years ago ... did the whole HRH 5am wake-up/get in line/friendly walking sprint to the waiting area, get on then get on again via single rider etc. etc. etc.

We're going back in late August (weekend of the 20th) - wondering, how much have the Gringotts wait times subsided?

A bit of advice for Disney Diva, and for anyone else who hasn't been, Diagon Alley, especially at night, is, in a word, "Magical."
Love grabbing an ice-cream, walking around, and taking in the sites and feel with the family.

I'm not a 'huge' Potter fan, but there is next to nothing this amazing, themed, and immersive out there IMHO: WDW included ... & I love WDW.
If you do nothing else, please do yourself a favour and hang out in Diagon Alley when the sun goes down.

Have fun - Uni is great!

Well, you certainly won't see that anymore. No mad rush at 5am! It's a lot more civilised now.

We walked on most days we were there, and of course later in the day it always seemed to quieten down a lot. But that was September of course. And we never made EE of course.......lol........ I imagine August will be busier, but not mad busy like last time you were there.

Kong will be open by then of course, so that may impact crowds.......but you'll be fine I would think :)

Gringotts had barely a wait the second day we were there this past August. We did a Monday/Tuesday trip, and that Tuesday the parks were pretty empty, at least compared to WDW.

I think 3 park days is a great amount of time to spend at UO. It gives you 2 full days at each park and another day to split between the parks to ride all your favorites again. We're doing 3 nights next Oct 7-10 to do HHN for a long weekend. 4 of the 5 kids in our extended family will be in college, so that's all we can swing.

We're doing three days in January. The first day we'll split between the two Potter parks (and leave a little early to go to the Luau at RPR) and then the other two days we'll focus on the rest of the parks (and revisiting Potter, I'm sure.)

Thanks for the info - that's great news!

I totally forgot about Kong: bonus! Makes me feel like I put on an old pair of jeans and pulled out a $20 from my front pocket - long forgotten. Nice ... :dogdance:
