NO Star Wars Weekends ...........

The latest DisenyFiles magazine confirmed the Star Wars fireworks would be presented on weekends during Season of the Force at the Studios but still hasn't given any dates

So glad we got to attend this last summer....but also can't wait the finished product on the new Star Wars stuff. Hubs is a major StarWars fan, and this guarantees we will get a trip back soon as it is done!

We were so disappointed, we really were looking forward to SWW again. We hit it on our first family WDW vacation 2014 on our first day and were so pleasantly surprised. Had so much fun. Oh well. More to come, right?

Well, I am so glad I went to Star Wars weekends this year! The firework show was honestly the best fireworks I have ever seen. It was perfectly timed and color coordinated to the amazing music from the Star Wars movies... it was brilliant.

Yeah... They used to do sorcery in the sky...and it had that and Indiana jones and more.

They eliminated it for fantastic in 2001...

Yeah...times have changed

If you looked at the DHS thread I posted there is a permit for firework infrastructure. I think this suggests that new permanent firework infrastructure means fireworks are going to become a permanent thing.

Gotta stop taking me so literal, my man...

That's a 16-17 year hiatus in fireworks for a very dated theater show...my inference.

And I can't keep up with you on the posts anyway ;)

I'm not debating that...

But it was a "southern strategy" because it lined up with those that were done with school on 5/1...like the locals.

I'm from the KS...in my area (and also common in the midwest) school starts mid-august and ends usually the 3 or 4th week of may and only extends into june if school was closed beyond the allotted snow days. At least in my area if the allotted snow days aren't used then school is let out that many days early depending on other factors (i.e if 6 days are planned but only 3 used then school is typically let out 3 days ahead of planned).

Also the school district I graduated from allowed seniors to graduate 2 weeks before the rest of the grades ended school for the year though this varies from other districts in the area.

Just to let you know it's not just a southern strategy as there are areas where school lets out with plenty of time to go to WDW for SWW.

Yes they could have moved the dates but I'm willing to bet Disney is ok with taking an attendance hit at HS for a couple of years knowing that there should be a significant boom in attendance once all is said and done and who knows they may bring SWW back to help immerse guests even more in the experience during select times of the year.

Oh I completely understand...

The northeastern seaboard has the silly long school calendar.

"Southern strategy" was actually a reference to the national hockey league...who put a bunch of teams in the south that didn't fit in the 1990's and really has never recovered since. It's was a tongue in cheek thing.

My general inference is that about 1/5-1/6th of the US population actually missed the event each year and they could have extended it 2 weeks to June 30th and captured more people. I never understood the thinking there.

You still could prop up may with it - which was the original goal.

Had they known that they were going to buy Star Wars - I bet things would have been different.

Ah I gotcha thanks for explaining the reference a bit more.
