Surprises for mom

Hello all!

I am hoping for some input on surprises we might be able to pull off for my mother while in WDW in January. She loves WDW. The fireworks, parades and shows, the ice cream, cotton candy and rice crispy treats. LOL, okay so she loves sugar and visual stimulation apparently. I'm trying to come up with something fun to surprise her with each day of our visit.

I've run the gamut of options that I know about. Taking her to tea at the Grand Floridian, getting her a pedicure massage or going on a safari...all seemed like great ideas until we really start trying to plan it and realized that timing this could be an issue with so many of us and the fact that she's planning so much for every day already it's going to be hard to fit anything in.

The Disney surprise in room gifts were a great idea, but way out of my price range so I've gotten a few things to surprise her with in the room. Themed items for some of the parks, a safari Eeyore for AK, a Mickey Magic Wand for the parades, and we plan to have her split the Kitchen Sink sundae with the grandkids.

I thought about maybe throwing together a spa kit but all I can think of to put in it are Epsom salts to soak her feet. So I'm looking for both fun and practical ideas!

Are you going for a particular life event? You could let a restaurant know and get a customized cake or dessert to celebrate. January will be pretty cool, so before you go you could buy her a Disney hoodie and have it embroidered with her name on the back. Is there a restaurant or cuisine she particularly wants to try?

The hoodie is good. Unfortunately for the rest of us she doesn't care about food. She does want to watch every show and parade while simultaneously watching the faces of all six grandchildren light up with joy and wonder. No pressure there.

This is her 70 birthday surprise, my 40, and a first trip for some of us. I'm sure the trip alone is enough, but I also know she will enjoy surprises.

I've also thought about the silhouettes with all the grandkids.

They have a horse & buggy ride at Disney's Port Orleans Riverside Resort. You can reserve a time slot for it. I wouldn't call it "Fun", but it's just a pleasant little ride around the resort area.

I think we have three winners! We'll be going horseback riding with the grandkids, she loves cirque du soleil but hasn't been to a live show, and we're getting the photo pass so we should have plenty of pictures to choose from. Thank you!

Does she have a favorite character or Disney movie? Perhaps you can surprise her by wearing matching shirts of that character, or all the kids (adults?) dressing as a character from the movie? Could make some great photos too!

We tried that route but folks were getting really picky and some would not wear it at all so we decided to skip them.

And my mom's favorite Disney character is Peter Pan...except only played by Mary Martin from the old stage play....yes I do know...you try explaining it to her. :p
