VWL Construction

I received a voicemail yesterday about my upcoming stay this December, it said to call back. Are they giving any type of perks/compensation or just letting us know that there will be noise while we are there?

Depends, there are several threads with different info about the VWL construction.

You might want to check for the other threads as many are being offered a chance to move even to Disney cash resorts which some guests in studios are accepting and others are being given some perks, like memory maker and extra FPs per guest for a few days as the availability at DVC resorts is slim to none. I would definitely call the number back and see what your family can get.

We got the call from GS and had been asked if we wanted to move because of construction ( we have a Nov. stay). We decided to stay and we were offered a complimentary Memory Maker for the inconvenience
:)

Are you staying on DVC points?

I need help. In May DH and I booked VWL in December (starting the 5th) and we were told of the construction many months after booking and getting airline tickets. No resorts open to move to when we were told about the construction. My hubby has a reconstructed foot due to a fall from a ladder (plates and screws in foot). He can walk, but once the foot starts hurting (after the first or second trip to the parks) we stay close to the resort, sit at the quiet pool, enjoy the VWL lobby in the evening. Now with construction our trip is greatly.....negatively impacted. No quiet pool, movies in the lobby in the evening and construction noise.
Our compensation was to be park passes. They gave us one for my husband, but I did not get one. I can't get any fast passes for myself and it is useless getting them for my husband as he will not go without me. What fun is it to go alone?

I can't get anyone at Disney to straighten this out. I have contacted Sheila at member satisfaction she was supposed to take care of this last week, nada. I have sent her several emails, called MS and Disney Recovery. No return calls. All the good fast passes are gone. Help.

The problem may be that you accepted compensation and they may have closed your file. Member satisfaction didn't have any resources available when dealing with the VWL construction, rooms were taken by guest satisfaction and DVC really had zero information on what was being offered to guests. We accepted a relocation offer and was moved from VWL to another resort. You may be out of luck and requesting a room away from construction may be your only option at this point.

Seems like "bait and switch" to me. Promise something and don't deliver and deliver something or nothing of lesser value. Maybe I should just promise to pay my dues and not deliver. Does anyone have a phone number for the compensation folks?

I would have moved if there would have been a different resort to go to.

What did they fail to deliver? We're there supposed to be more park tickets?

I've read on the Resorts board that paying WL guests are getting $100 credits per night and here on DVC Resorts board that DVC were offered park hoppers but I would have thought they would have provided them for both guests in the room. I have a stay booked in February that I booked last April and have yet to get a call but I hope to get some type of compensation for the lack of amenities as I still do want to be at the WLV.

You have to understand the way Disney works and use that knowledge to your benefit. I contacted DVC early about the construction, they told me not to worry but I changed the nights that I could and the only resort available was SSR. That still left us with some VWL nights.

Later I read that DVC didn't know anything and that a team from Disney, guest satisfaction was contacting guests so I hunted them down and asked what was available. They said that no rooms anywhere were available but that the DVC was giving back 2 points per night for the inconvenience. I declined and asked for a supervisor who offered AKV or BCV, we knew that BCV was in need of repairs so we took AKV.

Based on posts on different boards, cash guests were being relocated first and it seemed like better compensation.

Disney doesn't like to give anything away for free but they also know when guests are going to be making a stink when the construction really disruptive.
