Pizza Planet closing in January

Where am I going to get my cappuccino cupcake then?!?!?! ...Sigh. I am one of the few on here who loved Pizza Planet...a staple for every trip for my hubbs and I!

My sentiments exactly! Making sure to have a meal or two here on our December trip.

Good riddance pizza planet! :wave2: Your pizza sucked so bad. And the theme wasnt great either. Now if theyre simply refurbishing pizza planet, I hope they get rid of the crappy pizza for some decent food for a change.

I had the meat allay there today and thought it was pretty good. I always wondered why they didn't makeup look at all like the movie though.

1) Youbetchya.
2) Sometimes, WDW does get things right. **
3) And it is right top close this one down.

** Now, if they would just do something with ABC Commissary (arguably the worst eatery at WDW).
Ah yes, ABC. Im hoping and praying really hard that ABC goes down soon too!

While I agree Pizza Planet could have been done much better, I LOVED the concept of eating at the same restaurant as Toy Story. I'm sad that it's going away instead of being improved.

I agree, another absolutely terrible eatery. Proof that on a hot summer day people will subject their taste buds to just about anything as long as they can sit in an air-conditioned CS. :rotfl: My thoughts on Pizza Planet and ABC...

it is a cute location you could sit outside and crowd watch from a pretty location. Still plenty of places to eat throughout the park.

My sister was wanting to try Pizza Planet in February, but I told her why not just wait and see if they do it properly in Toy Story Land. For me, the counter service options are there, but the problem is the venues mostly have open air dining areas - which would be a big issue (for me at least) if we came during hotter weather.

We tried out Studio Catering a couple of weeks ago. I had the brisket sandwich and my sister had the Chipotle ranch chicken. I was very impressed with the brisket: great flavor and very juicy. My sister said the chicken was pretty good too. The portions were big too, I hated to throw away the rest of sandwich - I just couldn't finish it!

I agree it's nothing to write home about, but I don't get the hate for ABC. Of course, it looks like an employee cafeteria, because it's supposed to, but that's not very interesting. We seem to end up eating there almost every trip because it's where we're standing when we realize we're hungry and we don't want to return to pizza planet. I've always had a fresh, tasty sandwich or salad and the rest of the family likes their choices too. I just personally haven't experienced any longer lines, messier tables, food problems that at any other QS. . .

1) It does have the cafeteria look.
2) But, that is the design.
3) My complain is the quality of the food.
4) Or, rather the LACK OF QUALITY of the food.

ABC Commissary is the only place at WDW where I have left hungry, rather than eat the nasty food I was served.

Basically we are all going to starve at HS next year unless we have a TS reservation booked.

I have actually gone hungry at DS rather than eat there. Now I will order chicken nuggets if I am desperate, but I'd rather be a bit hungry and head over to Epcot. Always good food to be had there.

For me it's not the theme, décor, long lines, messy tables or the service; it comes down to the food and I personally can't stand their food. I have been there twice and both times it was terrible. I have heard some say it is now much improved; I won't find out because I'm not willing to give this place another try. But with that said, I'm glad you have received fresh and tasty food. I wish my experiences were the same.

Exactly... I get the design, like you my complaint is the food... IMHO it is one of the worst restaurants in WDW. And upon reading the many, many reviews on the DIS and other forum sites, there are a lot of people who also feel this place is awful.

ABC Commissary is the only place at WDW where I have left hungry, rather than eat the nasty food I was served.

I also left ABC Commissary hungry as well, as did my DW & DD. All three of us fed the garbage can with full plates and went somewhere else to eat. The shame is we chalked it up to a bad day and returned a year later and found it just as awful again. The only other restaurant we have left hungry at while is Disney was Chef Mickey.

Not necessarily. Eat breakfast before arriving at the park...then do the three or so attractions that are still open...then leave and have lunch someplace else. Until they re-open the refurbished park, I can't see how anyone could spend anything close to a full day there, so eating in the park should be a low priority.

Don't know where all the gloom and doom comes from. Am I the only one remembering a New Pizza Planet announced for Toy Story Land? This was back in the D23 announcement time. I can wait!
