What are your "mini joys?"

Dole whips and the tiki room! It's a favorite of my kids and watching their faces light up makes my day.

Walking up Main Street in the morning, coffee in hand, and under the castle into Fantasyland. There's nothing like the disney Magic/caffeine combo.

Relaxing back at the GCH lobby/room/spa with a glass of wine or cocktail in between hours of park time. When you stay on site, the experience is part theme park excitement and part resort relaxation.

And one that really tickles us but that changes every trip- walk-on rides! We did TSM twice in a row with no wait thanks to EMH one day. Another day we had planned to get to PP first thing but it was down. My son insisted we tour the castle so we did, taking our time in the little shops around it afterwards. When we exited into fantasyland we saw a couple CMs opening up the line for PP! Total walk-on mid-morning! That will likely never happen to us again. People quickly caught on and the line was at 30 minutes within a few minutes time.

We love sitting at the terrace area of the Hungry Bear. My DS likes one particular table, facing the tracks, so he can watch the trains go by while we eat.

We also love the cookies at Pooh's Corner. I always get a snickerdoodle. DH and the boys like chocolate chunk. We either eat them at the park or take them back to the hotel for a late-night snack.

  • Sharing a churro with my BFF while we walk through the park
  • Laughing at all the corny Jungle Cruise jokes (they seriously never get old for me)...O2H! O2H!
  • Watching the lights come on around the park as it gets dark
  • Talking with the citizens of Buena Vista street
  • Going into the Animation Building and just watching the screens change from film to film...I could stay in there all day!

Title sounds weird, I know...

We all love the rides and shows, those are the big draws for DL and DCA park goers...But, I'm interested in everyone's ideas and personal mini-wins, or mini joys.

Example: Our thing is to say goodbye on our last night at DL by taking a train ride full circle. SUPER bummed it will be shut down on our next trip. We will have to find a new way to say goodbye.

My personal mini joy is to get a hot cocoa and admire the store windows on Main Street at night.

My best friend loves to get a Matterhorn Macaroon, and sit on a particular bench (oh, she will wait if she has to) in front of the Matterhorn on the walkway from the hub and people watch.

Little mini-joys that are our own while we are there. What are yours?
Churros...walking on MS after park closing just enjoying the quietness, and did I mention churros? :)

I LOVE the esplanade music. It gets me jazzed. And I love the ART bus voice. I wish I had recorded it! That voice tells me I'm on my way to Disneyland.

And this is really dumb but I'm from Canada and we don't have this here... the honey mustard served in the parks. It's awesome.
Oh I love the esplanade music too! It puts me in my happy place before I've even entered the park!

One of my biggest joys is going away forever soon -- the petting zoo! I swear DL has the SOFTEST animals. DH and I joke they must bathe them in Pantene. I always have to stop in for a visit (fortunately, I have a kid now, so it's a tad less awkward). :)

Other mini-joys include getting a caramel apple (one time DH went on a trip there without me, and he brought one home for me, because he knows how much I love them). And we love looking for hidden Mickeys around the park. We've even spotted some that apparently aren't "official" ones!

Walking through the tunnel for the first time that trip, reading Walt's words, and the sense of homecoming that I feel. This is my mini-joy. I know nothing else matters at that point.
This too....and seeing the light in Walt's apartment window..it's the homage to the man who opened up this world of wonder to all of us! :goodvibes

Relaxing under Hungry Bear by the water. Mini-churros at the Cozy Cone, it's a tradition...so much that we have a "churro budget." Riding Splash with my son, it's my favorite ride, and has become his :)

Picking up a Boison Apple Freeze on a really hot day.
Riding the Matterhorn during the fireworks. (Accidentally did this on my very first DL trip; still my favorite thing!)
Seeing the Mad T Party Band

Just being there with my family.
Eating our favorite treats. (churros and beignets)
I love, love the fireworks! It doesn't matter which fireworks show it is, it always makes me cry.
Riding BTMRR during the fireworks.
Taking in all of the sights and sounds and smells!
Staying at the DLH relaxing by the pool with a drink that has been delivered to me and going down the Monorail slide!

We always go to Peter Pan first thing on our first day, and I always get a little shiver when he says, "C'mon everybody - here we gooooo!" at the beginning. That's my favourite part.

One of my faves is the "foot massage" after you get off HM. The moving platform up, if you put your feet along the edges, the "lumpy-ness" feels like a foot massage. Works on both sides. But I recommend just doing one or the other, not both at same time.
