June 5th I had major surgery. I had a 15x15 mesh put in to stabilize my stomach wall.

I just had my post up follow up and surgeon said I am progressing fine and to enjoy my upcoming Disney trip.

We arrive in Orlando July 8 for 7 days.

My energy is at a low. I walk and slowly increase activity daily but it wears me out and back to bed I go.

The pain is minimal but still there. I am no longer on narcotics to improve my energy.

With 2 weeks to go I am looking for tips and hints to improve/boost my energy level. Any ideas?

Glad you are improving and progressing well.

Are you on any vitamins? Can the doctor suggest any... I am no expert, but that sounds like a lot of walking so soon after major surgery.
I hope you plan for a lot of water/resting breaks, as I am sure you know, it will be HOT..

Maybe others can be of better help... I hope you have a fabulous trip!!!!!!!!

I have rented a scooter.
The doc encourages a lot of walking, I just cant find the energy to do so.
I am on 1000 B12 daily.

I have had that surgery too. I know 6 weeks post op I was feeling alot better but still my energy level was not that great.

To build some stamina you might try walking around your neighborhood and slowly increase it. That would give you a good idea about how much walking you could actually handle on the trip.

I would def. schedule some mid afternoon rest time at your hotel.

The heat will also get to you, so stay hydrated.

A scooter will help you get around. I do better with a wheelchair because I use it like a walker too when need be.

Did you have to wear an abdominal binder post op? I also felt like that helped alot. Make sure to take some over the counter pain meds with you just in case you need. them. You are brave. I dont think I would take a vacation that soon post op. In fact I just had to cancel our trip because I have a blood clot in my leg.

Make sure your family or whoever you are going with understands you might have limitations to what you can do on the trip. Also be careful with people near your abdominal area. ex. if you stand for a parade or walk past someone who might be carrying a child who could accidently kick into you. I think that would be a nightmare with the pain it could cause.

With good planning I am sure you will have a great trip. Just dont overdo it.

Good idea about the wheelchair.
To "practice" with crowds and heat I am going to go try out Seaworld and Six Flags. This weekend through next is our peak season for those parks.
Fortunately I am only 15 minutes from each.

Hope your recovery is goes well. Hope you have great vacation and as others have said rent a scooter. I think you will have a great time , rent the scooter and don't exhaust yourself .
