Yes, I realize we had our thanksgiving a month ago, but I seem to remember last year some of the stores in Canada having big Black Friday sales at the same time the States did. Does anyone know if there will be Black Friday sales in Canada this year?

I was listening to the radio the other day and there was an ad for "Black Friday Month."

I almost cried.

Oh yes for sure there will be black Friday sales this year. It's almost as big as Boxing Day now!

Pretty much any american retailer here is doing something that week. A lot of CnD ones too. For some retailers this is MUCH bigger than boxing day is

Thoughts...

I work at the corporate offices of a major Canadian retailer. Starting last year, pretty much every one of our Vendors and Manufacturers had done their price drops on their products for Black Friday/Cyber Monday instead of waiting until Boxing Day. It has now reached a point of adoption/recognition in Canada that everyone is trying to get their stuff sold well ahead of Christmas/Boxing day.

You pretty much are going to get the best savings on things this year for Black Friday/Cyber Monday as opposed to waiting until Boxing Day.

If you like on-line shopping this is the BEST way to take advantage of the sales! I was able to snag some awesome deals through all the major chains last year

I feel I got a good deal recently at Best Buy
Darn washing machine broke
I priced out at Costco, Sears, Goemans,,Bay,Leons, Brick
Canadian Appliance etc.

Best Buy
no taxes
no delivery fee
free set up
1/2 price for the 5 year warranty

I also got a Toys R Us gift which to my surprise was 2/3 off the original listed price
--instore special for 3 days. They also let me combine multiple e-vouchers (earned by collecting Airmiles) for a single purchase. Yeah! One more thing off my Christmas list.

While we usually have the best luck negotiating at the Brick, you can usually get a decent deal from Best Buy if you bundle in an extended warranty.

In any event, I'm looking for a new laptop, as I have a 6yo Dell that has seen better days.

Also looking to see what kind of flight deals can be had for the family vacation with my dad, brothers and their kids.

A lot of on-line stores now also do Black Friday sales. Most retailers in Canada including on-line retailers are trying to prevent Canadians from going south to shop during this time especially if it means that they will be shopping then instead of on Boxing Day. Even the Apple app store does Black Friday sales.

I live in a city that borders Detroit so we always have "Black Friday" sales in town. Not as good as the States, but better than nothing.

I'm looking for a new laptop this Black Friday since my mine passed away 2 weeks ago ;( soooo Black Friday comes in perfect timing. But I'm so undecided whether the best laptops deals are online or in stores. So far I really like using www.shopbot.ca it gives a pretty good sense on whats a good deal, plus it seems to shows only CA retailers (correct if I'm wrong!)

Plus they seem to be doing a black friday event at http://blackfriday.shopbot.ca/

but the question still remains online or in-store?? ahhh:crutches:

Staples seems to have deals that seem to fly off the shelf like hotcakes. Can anyone confirm?
