"Does this ride have drops?" March 2015 TR *NEW* 1/17 COMPLETE - Final Thoughts

Okay, I've gone back to mostly lurking, buy oh my word - the GLEE on your son's face with those foam balls and the shooters!! So much fun and worth the price of admission right there, I'm sure!!

I've heard California Legoland is "better" than Florida Legoland and I don't know whether or not that's true, but you certainly look to be having an amazing time!!

That cinnamon apple snack looks amazing!!! I'd be all over those too!

There was an airplane ride right there called Cargo Ace that again, had a pregnancy warning that probably wasn’t necessary. The problem with these rides with warnings was that because we had never been on them and we sometimes walked up between ride cycles, they were able to get on without us seeing what they actually do, so I never knew if it was okay to ride or not until they already had.
I think this might be the first time I've ever seen a complaint about not having to wait in a line. :rotfl:

Every time I went to the buffet, the different cooks working behind and bringing out more food were asking me how everything tasted, if we were enjoying our day, could they help us with anything, etc. And it didn’t seem forced at all, they just were really friendly and personable!
Awesome! I'm glad you had a good meal there and the service was good too. I guess you have to expect expensive at a theme park buffet, but at least they tried to make it worthwhile!

Once we got him out of there, they went on Lost Kingdom Adventure, a shooting ride. It had a pregnancy warning, so I sat out. But once they came out, DH said it was super slow moving with nothing at all jarring, so since DS wanted to ride again we all went a second time. It was tamer than Buzz Lightyear!
Sounds like a fun ride. And apparently LEGOLAND is just trying to be extra careful and assume no liability for anything.

PS: Check out my new ticker! Yes, we are nuts and having JUST returned from a week long October trip, we are going again to see the Osborne Lights before they disappear!
I might have heard about this one... I think it sounds like a lot of fun, even if it is just a short trip. I just hope the car ride goes well.

Looks like a fun time at Legoland, especially for DS. Lots of playgrounds (and slides) too! And I really would like to eat those apples now, please.

Yay for a repeat trip! I mean, you gotta get a picture of the baby with the lights, right? Who cares if you just came back and are going again in a few months? :rotfl: I hope you have a great time! :goodvibes

WOW - LEGOLAND looks like it was a real hit!! It's a place I've been thinking about doing (though as you said, hard to find time for even on our longer trips to Orlando) but great for CA. I think it is silly they don't offer longer DL tickets. Anyway...looks like there were really a ton of rides for Paxton and what boy doesn't love legos?! (Aria likes them too BTW!). We have an indoor Lego place near Boston that I've been meaning to take her to. There's only 2 rides though so definitely not anywhere near LEGOLAND standards haha.

ANyway glad to see how happy Paxton was!! I guess they only give pregnancy warnings vs. requirements? Interesting since DLP was very strict with their pregnancy "warnings" = pregnant people MAY NOT ride.

It was totally worth it to see him enjoy himself so much on pretty much every single attraction!

I don't have anything to compare it to, but that could make sense since Florida's Legoland is newer and may not have as many attractions in its arsenal yet. There was a whole section of Legoland we skipped because it was all water based and it was pretty chilly outside. It's a huge park!

Oh man, they were sooooooo good. I could probably be convinced to go back to Legoland in the future just for another order of those things!

Ha! That's true. I just wished I could have gone on more with DS had I known it wouldn't be a big deal or present a problem for my pregnancy. Some of the rides that had warnings were real head scratchers as to why. Most seemed pretty tame.

They must be super worried about covering their butts because almost every single ride seemed to have a warning!

DH mentioned that he posted about it in the DIS Dads. lol I'm equal parts worried/terrified about the drive and the insane Thanksgiving crowds. But I truly think there is just no way we will regret seeing the lights one last time. I'm sure we would regret it if we didn't do this!

He was truly the perfect age for it, both in the attractions and the play areas. It was pretty much his version of heaven on earth! Oh man, you and me both. I have been majorly craving sweets lately and some of those apple fries would sure do the trick! And it's apples, so it's healthy, right? :rolleyes1

Even if she will never remember it, she just HAS to see the lights at least once in her life! And we will have the pics to prove it! :thumbsup2

It was definitely perfect to do for our "extra" day and DS was definitely part of their target audience. I don't get the Disneyland ticketing either. :confused3 Five seems like a low number when most people take vacation for a week. Paxton was just really starting to get into Legos (like the kits) prior to this trip and now since visiting Legoland he loves them even more. If Aria loves them, she would definitely enjoy Legoland if you ever find yourself looking to spend a day there.

Yeah, I guess it was just warnings. No one was really paying attention or saying anything about it. I didn't realize that about DLP since it didn't apply to me when we were there. Did they give you trouble when you were there??

Did they give you trouble when you were there??

I was very obviously pregnant on our trip, although I did have a few tricks to try and hide it (namely those open sweaters which give anyone a big belly look) and I was only questioned once (on Casey Jr train of all places) and I played dumb. :littleangel: But I did do things like carry Aria onto the rides, stick right behind Andrew, etc, because 85% of their rides are not meant for pregnant people which is absolutely ridiculous in 84% of the rides lol.

So I have read a few of your trips but have never posted. Saw your college sweatshirt earlier in these posts. It's a small world because we went to the same nursing school, lol. Hope yall have a great time on your trips!

Whaaat?! No way!! What year did you graduate? I'm class of '07!

What a pain in the booty! Most of the rides that had a warning at Legoland were not things I was disappointed to miss anyway since they are pretty much geared towards kids Paxton's age instead of the whole family, but that would absolutely not be true for DLP!

I'm a few years after you. Class of 2012.

Small world indeed! Hopefully some of the great instructors I had were still there when you went through. :) Despite being the most stressful 3.5 years of my life, I also had some of the best times with some amazing people!

Day 5 Continued: Wednesday March 4th

After that, we were pretty much done with the rides DS could do. So we headed over to Miniland to walk around and check out the mini cities made of Legos. These were really cool! Very intricate and full of detail. First up was Washington D.C.

Day 5 Continued: Wednesday March 4th

Our day was winding down, and we had to decide if we wanted to do anything else in the park, start heading home, or visit the attached Aquarium. It’s separate admission, but the tickets we had bought online included it for free. So we didn’t lose anything for not using it, but it was free if we wanted to visit. I think we had about an hour or maybe a little more before it closed, and the entrance was right there so we decided to go ahead and see what they had to offer there.

For a theme park aquarium, it was okay. But nothing compared to the Audubon Aquarium of the Americas in New Orleans, which we have visited many times.

Overall, it had been a great day to visit Legoland! The weather was about as perfect as we had experienced all week. It was warm in the sun but a nice breeze so it felt great in the shade. Plus, it was absolutely dead around there and we never waited more than 5 minutes for everything. That was a plus because we didn’t really have any kind of plan going into our day and had just kind of followed a path around the park in a circle. DS really enjoyed it and talked about it quite a bit once we returned home. I think he talked about it more than he did Disneyland! I’m glad we added it onto this trip because he loved it, and I don’t foresee us taking a day away from WDW/Universal to visit Legoland in Florida.

We left around 5 pm to head back to our resort, and hit quite a bit of traffic along the way. It took us until about 6:30 before we were back home, and we still had to figure out what to do for dinner. We were sick of eating fast food, and too tired to eat at any of the sit down restaurants all around our resort, so we ended up at Target buying up stuff to make tacos back at the room. It was quick & easy to make and definitely cost us a lot less than any of the other options!

After dinner, we got ready for an early bedtime. Since we had bought 5 day park hoppers to Disneyland, we had access to one Magic Morning, and we were using it the following day, which meant entry at 9 instead of 10!

UP NEXT: Magic Morning!

Ok, I've got to say, I saw this one and the first thing that came to mind was Patrick Warburton in the Soarin' pre-show.

There was even a Mardi Gras parade in progress!
Seriously, the city scenes are so cool and the level of detail is just ridiculous!

Really gives a sense of the scale of it all!

DH found it pretty hilarious that they had someone sitting on the toilet!
Again, the detail they put into it is impressive. :rotfl2:

Cool! Looks like a fun little diversion. I like the lego props in the tanks.

Good idea! That's where it would be nice to stay someplace with a kitchen, which we rarely do.

That is so weird. Getting up "early" to make that EMH like rope drop at 9. It felt so foreign waiting so long to get to the parks there!

Pictures of Miniland always fascinate me, it's just SO cool! I love the one picture that DS is in because it gives a good idea of the size of the creations!

The aquarium sounds like it was a nice bonus to the day.

I hear ya about getting sick of eating out sometimes on vacation. Glad you were able to get some stuff at Target!

That is so cool!

The little cities were really cool to look at and check out all of the detail! Especially when it was cities we have visited before like Las Vegas, and obviously, New Orleans!

:rotfl: I totally see it!

Good idea! That's where it would be nice to stay someplace with a kitchen, which we rarely do.

It's nice after a long day to not have to worry about keeping a kid occupied and behaving in a restaurant. We don't use our kitchen a ton when we stay Wyndham, but I like having the option for when we just can't stand the thought of going anywhere else and taking awhile to get our food and get home.

That is so weird. Getting up "early" to make that EMH like rope drop at 9. It felt so foreign waiting so long to get to the parks there!

It was absolutely the WEIRDEST feeling to get up and moving so late to get to a Disney park!

Yeah, the scale is really cool to see in the photos with people in them. Some of the stuff to see was SO tiny like all the little people and stuff.

The aquarium wouldn't stand on its own, but it was a nice little bonus like you said. It was a good way to take full advantage of our tickets since we finished up all of the rides before the park closed for the day.

That's one of the best things about Disneyland...it's not a hike to get anywhere off property like it is in WDW. It's so convenient having Target right down the road from our resort to pick up groceries or emergency supplies we forgot or lost!

Looks like you son had a blast at Legoland. It's great that they have so many play areas.

Interesting that you noticed/experienced downside of having rides just for kids or just for adults - probably makes you appreciate Walt's vision for a place families can have fun together even more

Worked out well for a fairly early night given the magical morning the next day

Fun afternoon at Legoland!

We never did get any of the apple fries at Legoland Florida. But if we ever go back, they are on the list because those look amazing!

The boys loved the joust ride too - the same on is in Florida. But it was kind of strange just standing on the sidelines waving instead of riding with them.

The miniland in California seems bigger - I think the one in Florida just focused on US cities? But we really loved the Star Wars land there. Nate would have spent hours taking it all in. Love the preview of what is coming - the Death Star scene looks cool!

I think one of my favorite things about Legoland were all of the play areas - lots of playgrounds and building areas.

And a trip back is exciting!! We'll be there November 28-December 2 for a quick Christmas trip. Do we overlap at all?

I had the same experience when we went to Dollywood a couple years ago, and we were either taking turns on roller coasters that he couldn't ride or watching him on kiddie attractions that DH and I couldn't ride...It totally makes you appreciate that Walt took that experience and turned it into a place where the whole family can experience all of the attractions together!

Those apple fries were, hands down, the BEST thing about Legoland!! lol At least for me. DS would probably disagree.

The play areas were great because sometimes that's just what DS wants to do. And with the park being so empty, we after awhile we didn't feel the need to cut him off so that we could move on.

We will overlap on the 28th! Not sure what your travel day looks like though and if you will be at a park or not. We should be at MK in the morning for a good chunk of the day, will probably leave midday, and go to DHS in the evening where you will find me sobbing on Streets of America as I watch those lights dance for the very last time!!

Didn't notice the guy on the commode when we were at Legoland last time - we'll have to look for that one! I think my mom will get a real kick out of the lego Minilands. We'll be there for hours.

We went to a Sealife Aquarium in Arizona last time we were there. Nothing better than a mall-chain aquarium! Actually, this one had this backstage tour you could take for like $5. It was short but pretty neat. It's funny because it seemed like all the young employees there were inspired to interest in the Sea by Finding Nemo.
