"Long term" car rental?

Hi folks,

I'm looking to be in Orlando for a couple of weeks at a time next year. As a result, I might need a rental car for those chunks of time. I know that folks from overseas sometimes rent for weeks at a time. Does anyone have any advice on places that might be cheaper than the big chains for a 14-20 day rental?

I don't think there is a definitive answer to your question. Car rental rates vary significantly in Orlando based on many factors. I'd just book the best rate you can find now and then keep checking every week or so (more frequently as you get near your trip) for a better rate. As long as you don't select a pre-paid rate there are no penalties for canceling and booking a lower rate.

Check your insurance or credit card terms for rental car coverage limits. Some credit cards, for example, limit the car rental length to 14 days or less.

The way someone overseas might get a deal is by using their home country's website to check for deals or specials. I know that when I use an US site to look at travel packages in other countries, they might offer special car rates for rentals. (Unfortunately, so far, I have not had a chance to use any of them.)

Example of the different sites:
USA: www.hertz.com
UK: www.hertz.co.uk/
