DME late arrival when should I expect my luggage?

Hi everyone!
My flight lands at MCO at 8:50 pm. I'm staying at POP and taking the DME to my resort. I've always taken early flights so an evening arrival is new to me.
On DME website it says that the luggage transfer takes around 3 hours (I've never been able to confirm this as I always go to the park on arrival day :P).
What are your experiences with late arrival and luggage transfer?
Is the wait really 3 hours or more?
Thanks for your advice! :D

I'm so glad that you asked this question! We arrive at 8pm. I am thinking about not using the DME luggage tags, and retrieving my own luggage from baggage claim. We will want to get to bed early and don't want to be worried about luggage delivery.

I love the luggage delivery feature of DME and have had really good experiences.... but -When we arrive after 7ish I usually opt to pick up our bags, IMHO it is just easer and since we know the room will be ready I feel its worth the extra 20/30 minutes waiting on the bags and the extra $ to tip to the driver.

I'm told that, at Pop Century and the All Stars and Art of Animation, the bellhops do not make regular rounds delivering bags after 10 PM. But that you can stop by Bell Services to see if the bags have arrived at the resort, and carry the bags to your room yourself.

Arriving that late, I would expect (and have received) my bags around 1-2 am. I just call bell services when we get settled in our room and let them know that we will still want them that night and anytime they can deliver, we will take them.

Keep in mind, the "3 hour" time frame starts from when you check in to your resort. Add 90 minutes from plane landing to arriving at your resort, and you're looking at 4 1/2 hours from when your plane lands.

I believe the value resorts don't have regular luggage delivery after 10p(?), so I'd guess you'd get your luggage the next morning.

Option 1
Don't use the yellow DME tags and collect your luggage before going to the bus.

Option 2
Use the DME tag and plan on getting up late in case your luggage is delivered.

Option 3
Use the DME tags and let the luggage services (bellboys, whoever delivers) that you'll call for your luggage the next morning. Put the 'Do Not Disturb' sign on your door.

Regardless of which option you choose, you should pack everything you need for the first 24 hours in your carry on in case the airline doesn't transport your bags like they're scheduled to.

We are told to expect our luggage to arrive 3-4 hrs after resort check-in. So, if you have a flight that lands at 8:50pm, you won't be at Pop until close to 10-10:30. Which gets your bags to you around 1:30am! It could be earlier...but, the worst baggage delivery I've had has been at Pop. The value resorts don't automatically bring your bags when they arrive at the resort. They do sporadic baggage delivery...maybe every few hours. Not to mention the luggage dept at the values tends to slow way down after 10pm!!!!

If it were me, I would leave the tags off and get the bags myself, at baggage claim, and bring them to the bus with me. That way you can get settled in for the night, unpacked and early to bed. Then off to the parks, nicely rested, in the morning.

Thanks for the advice
I'll grab my luggage at the airport it's the simplest way for a late arrival;)
