Problems with DAS on MDE

We just returned from a 4 day trip. It was the 3rd time we used the DAS for my grandson but the first time it was on MDE. The first day and a half it worked great. The third day it rarely worked and we were usually just given paper FP. On our 2nd day we got a return time for Soarin. My grandson and half of our party rode while the other half chose not to. For the next 2 days those of us who had sat out for Soarin had a return time for it that would not go away. The CM's could not cancel it and could only issue a DAS return time for those who had ridden Soarin. Most issued a paper FP for the 3 of us stuck on Soarin but at least 1 CM refused to do anything to help us. At MK the next day they kept asking if the 3 of us were even in the park. It finally seemed to resolve itself on our last day.

My daughter had multiple CM's at different rides tell her that they could not give her a return time without my grandson there. She did not push the issue but just left and came back with him to get a time.

The DAS has been a great tool that allows my grandson to enjoy the parks with less stress but this time it was stressful for the adults who had to go get the return times! I think the paper DAS was much easier to use (and I had CM's tell me the same thing). If Disney wants to keep the DAS on MDE they need to fix it so that it works the way it is supposed to. And CM's apparently need more training.

Sorry you had all those problems yes with the DAS now on the MB it is hit or miss if it will work and often they will give you a paper return time

One thing you could have done about people still being on your for a ride and not being taken off was to go to GR or a FP kiosk and have a GR cm there do it for you but CM at the rides should be able to do it for you. I change my mind about rides all the time

We enountered a CM last week who also refused to issue a DAS time to my husband without my son present. Luckily one of the managers was nearby and educated the CM and we eventually got the DAS. One of the most important factors of Disney's DAS is their understanding that it's often distressing for the DAS holder to approach the ride and then leave without riding.

Disney has so many CMs and they have so much to remember, so we just tried to take it in stride that there might be those who didn't remember the fine details of the DAS.

Good that you took it in stride because why let it ruin your vacation. As for having a lot of CMs with a lot to remember - the employees should be well trained. There is no excuse for having untrained CMs. These are the same people running the rides. If they can't remember how to do their jobs that's a scary thought. Half the people on the DIS boards can tell you how everything works - if they can remember it so can a CM.
But you shouldn't let it get to you. However I think people need to start writing to Disney when this happens to let them know there is a training problem.
