Official 2016 Princess Half Marathon Thread

Newbee here to all the goings on, so please bare with me. First, I love the idea of "throwaways" as during many of the obstacle runs my son and I do we leave our sneakers to be cleansed and donated. I've already started picking up warmer clothing for the wee, chilly hours to shed along the way. But on a different note, wondering how the "Ever After Party" works. Has anyone gone, what goes on, what should we expect to see, do, and bring?

You don't need to bring anything. It is mainly discounts offered at some of the Disney Springs (still not used to saying that) locations. Last year, there was a dance party with the DJ from the pre-race, but I didn't go this year, so I don't know if they do that every time. It's really not a big deal, just something fun to do if you're going to be there anyway. Last year, they also had a small amount (very small) of merchandise on a cart as well.

Welcome ! Don't be scared about doing the half ! When I signed up for my first princess half I had never done a race before...no 5k, no 10k...heck no racing at all! Had a mid life crisis/bucket list to do a race at disney so I was a go all in for the princess ! Now during the training I did do some 5k's, 10k's to get "practice" but don't let the half scare you just because you haven't done one yet. I am living proof (as many others on the thread!) that you can do it!:flower1:
This is good encouragement. I'm afraid now I may have bit off more than I can chew. I'm up to four miles, which is about a third of the way. I'm not running, I'm going to walk. Mine's a mid-life crisis turning 60 need to do a Disney race.

There is absolutely no shame in walking !!! You still have 4 1/2 months to go so plenty of time to get up to 10 or 11 miles before PHM. For my first one DH and I only went up to 10 miles and no problems finishing the race in an upright position !

I'm still injured, so it's entirely likely I will end up walking. There is absolutely nothing wrong with that, and there are plenty who do it.

Hi Friends :) Has anyone ever purchased Chear Squad for their friends/family? I was planning to sign up my fans (three people) and give it to them as gifts, but I know they would need separate accounts on Active.com. I was GOING to just use my secondary e-mails and give them as a surprise...but the electronic signature section gave me pause. Has anyone ever done this? Was it a problem?

I bought it for my younger sis in '14 when she was 16. I set it up with her email and initialed the consent (technically for my mom). But it wasn't a surprise and I had permission to do so.
You can use your log-in to sign people up for chear squad though. I did that this year for my mom and sis again this year. I wouldn't worry about it unless the recipient might not be too happy about you initialing for them.
Disney/Active will never know :P

I bought ChEAR for my parents at Disneyland and put it in their names. Also, they let either the registrant OR the payee pick up the packages at the Expo, so it made it A LOT easier. If you're worried about it, you can always just put it in your name.

Would love some some advice on Proof of time submissions-My hubs and I never submitted one in the past. We always ended up in the middle of the corrals. (We've run four Wine and Dine halfs). I'm hearing though that with so many people in the Princess half that if you don't submit a proof of time you are pretty much guaranteed a last corral start. Does everyone in the middle to higher corrals submit a proof of time or does Disney sort people who have done RunDisney races before and then place them based on when they registered and finishing times in previous races? We have a 10K coming up that we could enter but it's hard b/c we have a new baby and no family near by. Anyone with any experience with proof of time submission?

Thank you both! I looked and couldn't figure out how to sign people up with my login, but I'll check again. And maybe just do it ;) Haha, thanks!

You need to submit a time. If your W&D is recent then use that. They will not check for you. The online form is easy and once entered it says your estimated finish time.

I received an email from runDisney today with Princess info...like link to submit time and some other stuff.

You've got to submit a POT of you don't want to be in the back. Personally, I like using a 10K. I can be a little fast than in a half. You can definitely use your W&D half time, but you still have to submit it, even if it is a Disney race.
