"Does this ride have drops?" March 2015 TR *NEW* 1/17 COMPLETE - Final Thoughts

Aw, sorry that DS was so scared of the characters at first! But those chipmunks can sure make them come around every time! Yay for him getting more comfortable!

Looks like a good meal - and certainly no shortage of characters. Reminds me of our Garden Grill meal where we could hardly eat a bite with all the character interactions. Glad you all enjoyed it!

LOVE the photos! :thumbsup2

Thank you!

Aww, sounds like a great meal! I'm glad Paxton decided he wasn't scared of the characters after all!

The brunch is definitely cool. It was so bizarre eating a meal at 7:45 am and having hot dogs as an option though. But I was not mad at the cookies! Hahaha.

Ohhh how I miss the beautiful Disneyland Hotel!!!

I was definitely relieved that the character fear was pretty short lived! I don't know if it was just because I was pregnant and always starving, but it was probably the best Disney buffet I have ever eaten at. The only way it could have been better would have been if it had puffed French toast!

The Disneyland Hotel is really gorgeous. I never got tired of exploring there!

Looks like such a fun character breakfast, excuse me, brunch! I had read kinda hit-or-miss things about this meal, but sounds like you really enjoyed it!

Love all the details in the DLH - all those paintings/sketches of the park areas are so cool!

We had a great experience, and I would definitely recommend it to anyone who asked. The food was great, and the character interaction was fantastic!

It is a really beautiful lobby to wander and explore. If it wasn't so damn expensive I would absolutely love to stay there sometime!

Sounds like a great breakfast! I can't believe how fast the characters came around. So fun that you got to meet Chip & Dale twice. I'm glad DS warmed up to the characters, the pictures are so cute!

I have to say, I love that DH had ice cream for breakfast! What an assortment of food they offer.

Love the pics of the resort. I wish we were able to explore it during our time there. Another trip!

We have never had a character meal where they all came so quickly and more than once! It was frantic at first, but then nice to have a long lull to be able to eat, especially for DS who has a hard time eating with so many distractions.

I really wanted to do more resort exploring this time around, but we just didn't make the time to check out GC or PP. I really do want to visit them one day, but it's just so hard to pull ourselves away from the parks!

What a fun breakfast! Lots of fun character interactions after DS got over his early fears.

The food does look good! Brunch is a really good meal for us because there is something to make everyone happyWe ha - even ice cream!

Love the decor at the Disneyland Hotel - those umbrellas on the ceiling are really neat.

Just wanted to say that DS looks like such a big guy here! :goodvibes

It was one of the best character meals we have ever done! We were very glad we had made the time for it. The food was so good, and so much variety. The ice cream just put it all over the edge!!

Aw, I know, he is getting SO big! All the technology they have come up with, you would think they would have come up with a way to keep them little for longer.

As always, enjoying reading about your DL trip! Love the Goofy's Kitchen pictures - looks like DS was being very cooperative once he going. Especially like the pictures with Chip and Dale - two of my favorites!

Thanks! I guess it had just been too long between trips for him or something. Once he got over his character "fear" he was totally fine. He loves the chipmunks too, so it was great they came around twice!

ALl caught up!! Phew!! I love the pictures you posted of a little Paxton in Toontown - so cute to compare to now esp since I was reading your TR's back then too! Sorry he was being a little bum at DL, it is almost how Aria acts when we then discover she has a fever or something like that. That must have been really annoying though and I don't blame you guys for being irritated!! Also, I wanted to comment on bringing him through the rides despite his behavior in lines. I am so tired of reading about other people commenting on "those parents" who do that - when you KNOW your kid will LOVE the ride! (or at least will be fine afterwards even if they decide not to ride again). Sometimes you just have to push a little bit.

Glad he loved Monster's Inc - that is one of my fave DL only rides!

I am surprised at the characters at Goofy's. It's been a while now (well, it was May 2014) but we also had some random princesses come over, and I think baloo and some other odd balls along with regulars. It was a totally mix mash of characters, maybe they have done away with that? IDK.

Anyway looking forward to reading more, of course!

It's crazy to look back at pictures from his first couple of trips and compare him to now!

I really don't know what his deal was this time. Although we absolutely loved the trip, it was not my favorite of the trips we have taken with him. He didn't want to do half the things in the parks, didn't want to meet characters, etc. I'm really hoping he is back to his normal Disney self next week. I wonder if it was because we kept the trip a secret and it was not WDW so things felt off to him. He is really excited about our upcoming trip and while I know he won't be perfect (he is a kid after all!) I'm hoping it just won't be as frustrating. I hated that I had to push him, but I didn't want to miss out on half of the attractions because he was scared, especially knowing they weren't scary in the slightest.

We researched the characters at the different meals, and it seems like the ones we saw are pretty standard now. The ones at the hotels seemed to have some kind of theme to each of them while the breakfast at the Plaza in DL had totally random characters. I would have loved to do that one but with the park opening so late almost every day, we didn't want to a) wait that long for breakfast and b) take away from our limited park time.

Oh no! I can kind of see Goofy maybe being scary like the Beast since he is so big though.

At least he let you hold him for a picture. And he smiled!

This could be a long character meal...

Well, his mama wasn't there to hold him so he had to suck it up and be a big boy.

Wow... if you played it right you could get breakfast... take your time meeting the characters 2 or 3 times... and then grab lunch!

The dessert staple of any good buffet.

I guess it is the same reason that they want you to swing around your napkin at Chef Mickey's.

I have no clue. He has never been scared of Goofy before...One year, I think when he was 1 or 2, Goofy was his favorite to meet! It was weird, and I hope he is over it now so we can meet lots of characters next week in WDW. He did do ok with some coaxing, but it was frustrating when you know people are lining up behind you!

The food selection was perfect! I can see a later breakfast/early lunch being absolutely perfect at this restaurant. I kind of dismissed the word "brunch" in the description and figured it would be a standard buffet breakfast, so I was surprised at the variety of offerings.

Ugh, yes, why do we need to do ANYTHING with dirty napkins?! I can't believe the health department is not all over that! lol

Nice. Love exploring the DLH. Would love to stay there someday but just way out of our price range. We had breakfast at Steakhouse 55 which was just awesome. Also explored the resort and found the BTMRR in the Frontierland tower, which is really cool. Did you get to see that??

DLH is so beautiful! We have visited twice now and I just love wandering around. I would totally love to stay there too, but there's just no way to justify that cost.

We didn't see that!! Oh well, something to look for next time I guess.

The chipmunks have a special sort of Disney magic about them. He doesn't really like them in real life, per se, but in the parks he loves them! So it was a nice relief that his "fear" was short lived.

Yes! I remember reading about that meal of yours and it was very similar. They were coming in rapid succession! It was nice to have a lull after that though to give him an opportunity to settle down and eat.

Since this is the last time I will likely be able to update before we leave for Disney World, I made it a big one! I'm going to do my best to post lots of live photos on Instagram, so you can follow me @disneymom1024 there if you don't already. See ya real soon!

Day 4 Continued: Tuesday March 3rd

Finally, we said so long to Disneyland Hotel and moved our car over to the Mickey & Friends parking garage to take the tram over to the park entrance. When we got to the loading area they were about to take off, but DH and DS jumped on to one of the front seats where there are two benches facing each other. There wasn’t enough room for me so I told them I’d meet them at the front gates. The very sweet family sitting in the benches squeezed in to make room for me! We had a nice time chatting with them on the way to the gates. They loved the stroller tag I had gotten made, and that got us into a little discussion about these boards! They had left so early to get to the park for opening that they had gotten their kids ready while they were sleeping and had forgotten shoes for one of them! So their first stop was going to be at DTD to find him a pair of (probably way too expensive) shoes to wear for the day.

Today, we had decided to change it up by going over to DCA first. Once we were let into the park, we were held on Buena Vista St for probably about 10 minutes until the park officially opened and we followed the masses of people who were heading over to Cars Land.

But that’s not where we were going just yet! We had a different morning plan in mind and were headed instead to Paradise Pier. Not too many people were doing the same, so it ended up being a very nice walk once we had made it past the entrance to Cars Land.

Toy Story Mania of course!

While I parked the stroller and got DS out, DH stopped for a FP for California Screamin’ for himself to use later, then we got in line together. In no time, we were boarding our cars and heading off to the games. This time, DS and I rode together.

I love this little display on the way out!

As soon as we came out, DS said he wanted to ride again so we got right back in line. Although this ride doesn’t post wait times nearly as long as the WDW version does, we still didn’t want to wait up to 40 minutes with an antsy 4 year old later in the day. The ride was having some issues of stopping while we waited so it took a little longer than we had thought, but it was still a pretty short wait.

This time, DH and DS rode together and I was on my own. Which is sometimes a little better because then I can just play without having to worry about helping DS get control of his shooter! Yes, I am selfish like that. Lol

Once we were done with our second ride, DH wanted to go pick up a FP for Radiator Springs Racers, so he hurried off while I got DS settled in the stroller and went over to meet him. Along the way, he must have taken this.

Once we met up, we talked about going on Monsters Inc. again, so we headed off to Hollywoodland. But once we got there, a CM was outside of the animation building trying to get people to come inside for an animation class. I didn’t really think it was a good idea with DS, but once he heard he could draw Olaf, he wanted to do it. So we went inside and just made it into the next class before they shut the doors.

It’s pretty much set up just like the animation academy was at DHS (RIP :( ) except that everyone uses the lapboards instead of having the desks.

Ready to draw

Well, I had to eat my words of protest after that. Turns out, DS loved it! I thought he would get frustrated at not being able to do it just like the animator, but with a little help from DH, he had a blast drawing Olaf! He was actually disappointed when the class was over. Unfortunately, with the Frozen takeover in that section of DCA, they were only rotating Olaf and Marshmallow and no other characters or we probably would have done this a few more times during the trip.

Off the Page is one of our favorite shops to browse around in, so we did that once we were finished with the class. I wish I had endless disposable cash to buy up all the art in this store!

After that, I saw on the Times Guide there was a Frozen Singalong about to start at 11:30. I pretty much hammered into DS that we were doing this show and he’d better not cut up like he had the last time. It was a good opportunity to talk about making everyone happy by doing things DH or I wanted to do and not just what he wanted to do all the time. He wasn’t thrilled about it and voiced his displeasure but didn’t fight or act up like he had before so into the theater we went. In DCA, the Singalong has taken over the theater where Muppets 3-D used to be.

We were transported into Arendelle where the city’s historian and her apprentice were ready to tell us the story of Anna and Elsa, with lots and lots of music & singing along the way. Also, I think Kristoff was trying to find the perfect anniversary gift for Anna.

I was so glad we ended up going back to do this after DS sabotaged us the previous time! For all his grumbling, he did end up enjoying it, and of course I loved it. But of course, I am not nearly as burned out on Frozen as some parents are. DS enjoyed the movie, but was never obsessed so we didn’t have to deal with Frozen overkill. Wait for the next girly Disney hit, and we will be there! Lol

Once we exited the theater, we decided to go over to Monsters Inc. to ride. Like I said, this ended up being one of DS’s favorite attractions!

After our visit to Monstropolis, we came back out into the sunshine and found this cool Frozen decoration happening.

DH and I remembered that the Visa meet & greet happens right in that area, and it had just started recently, so I took DS over to get in line while DH went to ride California Screamin’. However, that didn’t go quite as planned when we overheard that the character meeting was Stitch and DS staunchly refused to meet him. After trying to coax him into it for a few minutes while standing in line, I realized it was pointless to continue standing there just for him to be bratty once we got up to Stitch so we left the line and I took him over to Paradise Pier so we could do something over there until DH was finished. Meanwhile, DH was having a blast!

After meeting up, we decided we were ready to leave DCA for now and go over to DL. It was well past our usual lunchtime, but since we’d had such a big breakfast, DH and I were not hungry. We decided to get DS something portable (chicken nuggets, of course!) and let him eat in the stroller while we crossed over to the other park. But on the way out, we stumbled across a Green Army Man show, so we stopped to watch for a few minutes.

Our first destination was Frontierland because we had just remembered about needing FPs for Fantasmic, so we went over to see if there were any left. Of course, they were all gone. So we made mental notes that we needed to remember to go over early one day to get them so we wouldn’t miss the show. We walked around and thought about getting food at Golden Horseshoe, but we still weren’t hungry and couldn’t bring ourselves to eat anything yet. But, we saw the riverboat was about to leave so we hopped on and took a relaxing ride on the top level.

When we got off, DH and I decided just to have some snacks to hold us over until dinner. I had my eye on those Mickey pretzels at the cart right next to the riverboat dock! DH got in line to get me one while I went inside Golden Horseshoe to get a cup of water.

The cups of water were little, so DH went inside to get a second one and came back with that and a root beer float for himself.

After enjoying our snacks, we decided to do something we have never done at either DL or WDW and take the rafts over to the Pirate’s Lair, the old Tom Sawyer Island. DS had spotted the pirate ship on our riverboat ride and wanted to check it out, and we figured we never take time to slow down and do stuff like that because we are always going from ride to ride. With a lot more time to spend in DL and already accomplishing so much on our to-do lists, we figured why not?

UP NEXT: Dinner & a Show

This time, DH and DS rode together and I was on my own. Which is sometimes a little better because then I can just play without having to worry about helping DS get control of his shooter! Yes, I am selfish like that. Lol

Hahahaha looking back you'll have to remember that you did get a chance to ride alone - Delilah will be the 4th in that puzzle. Same for me - I did try to enjoy that alone time as well when I could!

Well, I had to eat my words of protest after that. Turns out, DS loved it! I thought he would get frustrated at not being able to do it just like the animator, but with a little help from DH, he had a blast drawing Olaf! He was actually disappointed when the class was over. I love Paxton's Olaf! Did he write his name on his paper? If so he has very good handwriting. Aria can write her name but it comes out like AriA. This was a really fun thing we did at DisneyQuest in May, and I'm so sad they closed it at DHS.

We made our way into the Crown Jewel Theater and found some seats. I took this picture and posted it on Instagram with the caption One of us was really excited about the Frozen Singalong.

LMAO. I don't remember seeing that pic but I don't use instagram (some ppl post their instagram to facebook, can you do that??)

We were transported into Arendelle where the city’s historian and her apprentice were ready to tell us the story of Anna and Elsa, with lots and lots of music & singing along the way. Also, I think Kristoff was trying to find the perfect anniversary gift for Anna.

I love that all the Frozen sing a long shows are different! DLP was different as well, so we thoroughly enjoyed it despite having seeing the WDW version about 10000 times.

I think you said you had never done this, but still can't believe it with Paxton in tow!! Glad he had a good time over there, it is so much fun. Growing up going to DL, it was seriously one of my top 3 things to do there (though it wasn't Pirates Lair until more recently, still fun though).

Pirate’s Lair is beautiful! Lots of pretty scenery, and of course all kinds of cool stuff for DS to explore: rope bridges, caves & caverns, a pirate ship…little boy’s dream, basically.

Hey! Delilah will love it too ;)

Paradise Pier is so lovely and quiet in the mornings!

Nice getting 2 rides on TSMM! Such a tough task at WDW!

I'm glad DS enjoyed the animation academy! His drawing came out pretty good! Too bad they were only doing 2 characters at the time.

I'm also glad you were able to see the sing along without too much protest from DS this time!

It's great that you were able to take some time to do more relaxed rides like the riverboat and the rafts! Great pictures :)

Looks like a really good day. Our DD is anti-Frozen but we dragged her to the show @ DHS. It's cute - a LOT of humor - but not one I will go out of my way to see at DLR.

We did TSMM at park opener in 2013. No wait at all!

WE never made to Tom Sawyer Island at DLR, we did it once at WDW but there was hardly anything to do there and have never been back. DLR's version looks much better. I wonder how much construction over there will shrink it...

Quick question for you - are they still allowing late FP returns at DLR? I know they still use the paper system, but I was trying to find out if you could still show up after the hour-long window and still use it. That will definitely affect the strategy for our upcoming trip.

Also - how are RSR Fastpasses nowadays. It can't still be the insanity of the when it first opened, right?

I know, soon enough, we will be fighting over who gets to ride with Paxton because he will finally be old enough to handle the shooter on his own! lol

That was written with Daddy's hand over his! lol But now that he has started Pre-K, he writes his name REALLY well! He was just starting to do it while at daycare, but they didn't push it very much there. In school, he is writing his name several times a day so he has gotten pretty good at it. I'm SO sad they got rid of it at DHS, and right before our trip! I know Paxton would have wanted to do it again in WDW.

Yeah, you can share them to FB from IG. I usually do! I think I did, but I'm not surprised you missed it with the terrible way the FB newsfeed operates. It drives me nuts that I miss so many posts and my feed is full of junk instead.

I don't really know why we have never done TSI except that I never once did it as a kid so I didn't ever think to make time for it because I didn't know what I was missing. He LOVED it though, so I'm glad we finally made the trip over there in DL. It's a lot easier to do with so much time in the parks and already feeling like we had accomplished a ton. Hopefully we can find time to check it out on our trip coming up!

You're totally right! I should say it's every little kid's dream!!!

With everyone flocking to Carsland it was nice to head somewhere that wasn't nearly as busy. It was great getting back to back rides on TSM and we maybe could have squeezed in a third, but we were ready to try other things.

I remember the last time we were in DL, there was a list outside of all the characters they would be drawing at each time slot. Very cool that you could choose which ones you wanted to attend based on the character! But we all had fun drawing Olaf anyway. It just doesn't lend itself to repeatability.

We loved having the freedom to do all of those little things we usually skip because we feel short on time. I'm so glad we went with a full 5 days in the parks!

I was surprised at how funny the show was! I'm sure we will see it at DHS with the lack of other things to do there at the moment.

It's such a nice change of pace not to get run over getting to TSM in the morning and getting a couple of rides under our belt to start off the day!

DLR's version was great, but of course I have nothing to compare it to. We may try to make some time for it this trip since it will be very MK heavy so we should have lots of opportunity.

Once I read this question, I realized I didn't use a single FP myself the entire trip!! I will have to defer to @DDuck4Life on that one, but I'm pretty sure they did allow late returns. I can't imagine he made it within the window every single time?? The FP situation was definitely better compared to our last experience when Carsland had first opened. We were able to go over to DCA a few hours after the park opened and there were still some available for later in the day. Not like before when they would be gobbled up in minutes! I think there was only once that we went over to look for some to be available and they weren't, and that was late in the day when we tried.

So, the dog's been sleeping on my hand while I read the updates, therefore, I couldn't quote anything or remember all of what I wanted to comment on. But, now that I've pried my hand away from Bailey, I will just summarize by saying I'm enjoying all the Disneyland things and it's interesting to hear how they are different than WDW. I'm really excited to (hopefully) check everything out myself in February! Hope your WDW trip is off to a good start!

What a fun morning!

Very cute mother & son shot!

Well, I had to eat my words of protest after that. Turns out, DS loved it! I thought he would get frustrated at not being able to do it just like the animator, but with a little help from DH, he had a blast drawing Olaf! He was actually disappointed when the class was over.

That's great that he loved it! It's pretty awesome that he got to experience it now that Animation Academy is no longer at WDW.

He did a great job!

Cute shot!! And is that a Tangled shirt? Love it!

But of course, I am not nearly as burned out on Frozen as some parents are. DS enjoyed the movie, but was never obsessed so we didn’t have to deal with Frozen overkill.

I'm in the same boat! I really enjoy Frozen, but probably because I don't have any girls playing/singing/watching Frozen nonstop!

How fun! I really want to check out Tom Sawyer's Island but it's hard to take away all of that time from attractions! But it seems like DS had a blast!

There wasn’t enough room for me so I told them I’d meet them at the front gates
Oh, so just abandon the pregnant lady, right? :rolleyes1

I love this little display on the way out!
::yes:: I noticed that one too. That really is cool and does such a nice job of emphasizing the story of the ride.

This time, DH and DS rode together and I was on my own. Which is sometimes a little better because then I can just play without having to worry about helping DS get control of his shooter! Yes, I am selfish like that. Lol
Nothing selfish about that.

Cool! Nice job, Paxton! I'm glad he enjoyed it!

We made our way into the Crown Jewel Theater and found some seats. I took this picture and posted it on Instagram with the caption One of us was really excited about the Frozen Singalong.
:rotfl2::rotfl::lmao:

DS enjoyed the movie, but was never obsessed so we didn’t have to deal with Frozen overkill. Wait for the next girly Disney hit, and we will be there! Lol
::yes:: Frozen has been watched a lot in our house, but I'm not quite as fed up with it as many other parents are. It isn't on a constant daily rotation. Maybe once every week or 2. I can handle that.

But the TV movie, Descendants... DD wants to watch that basically 5 times per day if we'd let her. :faint:

Once we got to Paradise Pier, I took DS on the Carousel next to Screamin’.
I think they need more attractions like this in Disney parks. I mean, having a ride that little kids can ride with little to no wait right next to the exit of a ride that their parents want to ride is the smartest thing ever.

I'm guilty of this as well. We always want to take advantage of what little time we have to do all of our must do attractions as many times as we can. I'm glad you were able to slow down to enjoy the river boat and check out the Pirates Lair.

Haha Been there done that, but baby instead of dog!! lol

Oh, how fun if your trip works out!! We are really hopeful that we can squeeze in some time before all of the Diamond celebration stuff goes away.

What a fun morning!

Very cute mother & son shot!

Thanks! I love that one of us too.

That's great that he loved it! It's pretty awesome that he got to experience it now that Animation Academy is no longer at WDW.

Once I heard it was going away at WDW, I was even more happy that we had stopped for it while in DL instead of just skipping it like I had wanted to do. It's such a shame that they got rid of it, especially since it seemed like it was getting even more popular!

He did a great job!

Cute shot!! And is that a Tangled shirt? Love it!

It is indeed a Tangled shirt! I found it while looking for a shirt for DH for his birthday and just had to have it!

I'm in the same boat! I really enjoy Frozen, but probably because I don't have any girls playing/singing/watching Frozen nonstop!

How fun! I really want to check out Tom Sawyer's Island but it's hard to take away all of that time from attractions! But it seems like DS had a blast!

That's exactly why we have never done it in WDW because we never want to take time away from everything else. So I'm glad all of the time in DL allowed us to have time to do it on this trip.

Oh, so just abandon the pregnant lady, right? :rolleyes1

Exactly! I guess I wouldn't have survived in the wild either since I moved slowest. :rotfl:

::yes:: I noticed that one too. That really is cool and does such a nice job of emphasizing the story of the ride.

This is so true, because before seeing this, I never really understood what the story of the ride was. I just thought it was a game themed around Toy Story characters! Makes so much sense that it is them taking over a carnival game while Andy is out.

Nothing selfish about that.

Cool! Nice job, Paxton! I'm glad he enjoyed it!

When the first episode of Miles From Tomorrowland came out on the Disney Jr app before premiering on TV, DS watched it CONSTANTLY and I had the theme song stuck in my head for ages!

I think they need more attractions like this in Disney parks. I mean, having a ride that little kids can ride with little to no wait right next to the exit of a ride that their parents want to ride is the smartest thing ever.

YES! It is so so convenient!!

I'm guilty of this as well. We always want to take advantage of what little time we have to do all of our must do attractions as many times as we can. I'm glad you were able to slow down to enjoy the river boat and check out the Pirates Lair.

This always happens to us in WDW. 5 full days in DL meant we had lots of time for attractions like this! And I guess it's a good thing too. I had said going into our Disney trip last week that we would check out TSI since he enjoyed Pirates Lair so much, and I didn't even realize we skipped it until we got home. There's just too much else to do!

Well, we are back from WDW, and I'm ready to get this TR train moving so I can get the next one up & running! We had a few rough moments of course, but an overall great trip! Now, back to March in California...

Day 4 Continued: Tuesday March 4th

It was around 3:15 pm when our raft made it back to land, and DH only had a little bit longer to use this RSR FP, so he made a quick run over to DCA to use it while I took DS over to Fantasyland to do some rides.

In Fantasyland, DS asked first to go over to the stationary Dumbo to take a picture.

Then I talked him into going onto Mr. Toad’s Wild Ride with me by telling him he could sit behind the steering wheel and “drive” the car.

Can’t pass this up without trying to pull it out.

Then he wanted to go ride Small World. The parade was getting ready to start, and I tried to convince him to find a spot for it to watch with me, but he really insisted on riding, so I gave in and figured we could watch the parade another day with DH anyway.

When we came off, he wanted to look through the shop, so we stopped in to look around.

DS spotted a Buzz Lightyear blaster toy on a random shelf and asked if he could put it back where it goes, so I said sure and we went to hang it up with the rest of the blasters. Imagine my surprise when a CM came over and said he was so impressed with DS wanting to pick up something that wasn’t where it belonged and that he wanted to give DS the blaster at no charge if that was okay with me. Proud momma moment!! Of course I said yes, and DS was thrilled to be the proud new owner of a blaster!

When we got out of the shop, the parade music could be heard and was just about to get to where we were. Happy with his new toy, DS was a bit more pliable so I made it sound like it was his idea to watch the parade this time, and we ducked under the rope to find a spot. A lady in front offered DS a spot in the front row with her kids so he could see better so he went to watch from there while I stayed behind him with the stroller. I took a few pictures, but never fear, we did catch the parade later in the week with much better pictures taken by DH.

After the parade had ended, we met up with DH and went to Autopia, which DS was asking to ride. It didn’t have a long wait, so they decided to go while I watched from the bridge.

Day 4 Continued: Tuesday March 4th

By then, DH and I were ready for some real food, so we went to Golden Horseshoe to get some dinner. Unexpectedly, as we were sitting there eating, a performance started on stage, and it ended up being one of our favorite things we experienced on the trip! The basic premise was the mayor was trying to find a man to marry his daughter, so they played a dating game with guys from the audience. It was HILARIOUS!

DH ended up taking more video than photos, so unfortunately we don’t have a good picture of the lovely daughter, played by a very hilarious gentleman! You can see her profile in that gorgeous pink gingham getup! It was a great surprise, and made for a wonderful QS meal. The showtimes are printed on the Times Guide, but we passed through later in the trip during a show and it was totally different. We didn’t get to see another one, but it is worth checking out if a showtime lines up with when you are ready to eat.

After dinner, we decided to go back to DCA for the evening. We spent a bit of time shopping up either side of Buena Vista St. and then over to Carsland to poke around the shops again there.

DH said he wanted to go take some photos of Paradise Pier lit up, so DS and I went on Little Mermaid twice in a row while he did that.

Meanwhile, DH was setting up for these shots…

On the way out of the park, we passed through Carsland once more and of course, got some more photos. I hope you’re not sick of these night shots by now!

Once he was finished taking pictures, the park was closed and it was time to go anyway. The loading area for the trams was PACKED, and it looked like it would be several trams before we could get on, so we decided to walk to the parking garage. It may not have actually been any faster, but at least we felt like we were moving. We got back to the room and went off to sleep as quickly as we could!

UP NEXT: Everything Is Awesome

Never get tired of your DH's great photos. Love the Carsland at night shots! Also anxious to read about your latest trip to WDW with your family of 4!

It sounds like you and DS had lots of fun in Fantasyland!

What a special moment! That's awesome that the CM recognized DS's kind deed. And we have that same blaster at home!

Great picture, but for some reason it really makes me laugh that DH is holding that blaster like he's ready to defend the car!

That sounds hilarious! Glad you stumbled into such a fun show!

Great shot! It's beautiful at night!

Can't wait to hear about the October trip :)

Sounds like you and DS had some nice alone time. And awesome that you got to catch the parade anyway!

Omgosh what a cute story about him putting the toy back and the CM wanting to gift him for it! Amazing moment!

Love the pics of DH & DS on Autopia, too cute.

Gorgeous Paradise Pier shots...and Carsland too!

That's so great that the CM made that gesture - and hopefully a good lesson for your son that sometimes it pays to do the right thing!

Glad you got to see some of the parade anyway - we caught that one a bit by accident (were planning to still be on mid-day break) but surprised how much I enjoyed it - and some unique elements like the Mary Poppins and Burt part and the animatronic Simba.

Love how while riding Autopia your DH had to handle the ray gun while yours son drove!

Some great shots of Mickey's fun wheel by your DH!

Cars Land, especially at night, is so photogenic!
