PTR: And now for something completely different - a WDW Family does DLR *(new October 9th)*

You're so close! Isn't it crazy when departure day is just right around the corner?! :cool1:

I don't use the touring plans feature too often, but I'm a big fan of the Touring Plans app. I found it's wait times to be pretty accurate and I'm a HUGE fan of the restaurant menus. The menus on touring plans are a heck of a lot easier to navigate than those on the official Disney app! :thumbsup2

It's funny how it still seems a ways a way and then other times I am freaking out because I feel totally not ready as far as packing and taking care of work stuff. But the date isn't moving so I guess we will have to be ready!

I've been messing around with the app and it does seem pretty good to use as far as times. I think the menus will help a lot when we are thinking of/wanting counter service food since there are a few places we'd like to try but nothing is set in stone there

Can't wait to read about your upcoming trip! Will you periscope ? Kind of crazy with the kids and all but you are pretty ambitious, no?!

Um, not sure if I can handle periscoping given the three kids and trying to take pictures and use the GoPro - but if there is something specific you want to see I can try!

Just got all caught up - your trip and plans look fantastic!! I know you guys will have an amazing time and I can't wait to read all about it. I couldn't see the pics of the girls in their matching dresses, but I am sure they will look adorable!

Thanks! Knowing you went through this fairly recently glad to see you think the plans are good. Yeah, not sure what is going on with the picture since I uploaded it right to the DIS :confused3

No pressure just wondering. Seems to be the new craze. GoPro will be a fun addition to the trip!

hope you all have a great time! Looking forward to reading about it!

Thought about picking up a go pro 4 session today for my trip in about a month, but I wasn't sure what all I would do with it!

Ok... got a little (or maybe a lot) behind on my replies. But the day to day plans look good and I'm sure you'll have an awesome time!!!!

Enjoy your time out west and I can't wait to see what you have to say about DL when you get back! Have a great time!!

Oh now worries - I think it is a really cool technology ... I actually watched the Disneyland 60th anniversary ceremony on periscope

Yeah, I am hoping I do wind up using it a lot. Hopefully get some good shots with the GoPro - figure will be good on rides and just moving around the park, etc. - read a good suggestion to give to one of the kids at times to see what they capture/get their point of view

Thanks! really hoping it works out and that the cross-country trip doesn't take too much out of us.

4 days away!! :banana::banana::banana:

Definitely getting close!

Part 24 - One Month From Today: October 17th - Steakhouse 55! ... and we leave :(

Ok, continuing to call this a "one month from today" post is probably stretching the theme beyond reasonable levels, but hey, why quite when I am behind, right?

So this will be the last update post (thought might do one more just to get to a nice round "Part 25") and will cover our last day out west

The day starts with us getting up early and packing and then heading over to the Disneyland Hotel for our 7:50 breakfast ADR at Steakhouse 55. The main reasons I wanted to fit this meal in include:

1) reviews paint this as a very solid breakfast option
b) I really wanted to checkout this restaurant as it is definitely my style of place and the pictures on the walls, etc.
iii) I wanted to have some time to wander the Disneyland Hotel to take in art work and just the resort as a whole

So I am kinda hoping breakfast goes fast so I have time at the hotel ;)

After that we will pack up the rental car and drive back down to the San Diego airport where we will reverse the process as I will drop Judi, the kids, and all the stuff at the departures door and then head to the rental return area and take the shuttle back. Our flight is scheduled to leave at 1:01pm and land back at Dulles in Washington, DC at 8:47pm EST. From there I will get the car, load up everything and drive back to Judi's families house ... so definitely will be a long travel day.

So not a ton of detail, but thought I would also include some additional info I have received from calling Disneyland Dining
- I called to see which performance of World of Color our dining fastpass would be for and they confirmed that it should be for the first showing which is 9:00pm
- I saw that there is a special event at Trade Sam's on the 12th and 13th - called MahaoWeen - and I wasn't sure how that impacted ability to go there as we were planning to go there on the 13th. Turns out the event is actually held on the lawn and is more "presented by Trader Sam's" - not actually inside the building. They did also mention that the special tiki mugs should be available in the building - which if that turns out to be true I will be excited as they are pretty cool looking:

Well, that is about it for the plans. .... let's see how this actually works out :rotfl:

Departure day..the saddest day :( And least you have the breakfast to look forward to! Hopefully all the travelling will go smoothly.

I wonder how much the special mugs are?? I will never forget my $50 drink at Trader Sam's - never again! That was the biggie drink though (forgetting name) and we have the mug and have yet to bring it out. Thankfully Lynda & I split the drink so also split the cost, but still! The snake drink is SO much better anyway ;) Disney store.com also has some Trader Sam's t-shirts for the Halloween thing...I saw them while perusing the site yesterday :)

Definitely will be sad to get to the last day - and we don't have any real "down" days so I am sure the week will go fast. That is another reason I am glad we were able to fit the breakfast in that last morning - extend the fun a bit

I totally remember from your TR how much the big bowl ( the "Uh-Oa") is! Plus I just don't think we would use that and it would take up a bunch of room - so that is probably the one I won't get. From what I can find the other drinks that come in souvenir mugs are ~$20 each - we will have to see how many I can talk myself (and Judi) into getting

That is a great idea, looking forward to hearing how it went and (hopefully) seeing a product of it. :)

Sounds like a long travel day, going coast to coast. Great way to start the day with a little more Disney magic, though. Hope it's a great meal!

In case I don't make it back here in time, HAVE A GREAT TRIP!! I know you all will have a great time and I really can't wait to hear all about it :cool1:

I figure it will either work out really well or be a complete disaster ... though, knowing us, probably a little of each!

yeah, will be a long day - and we lose 3 hours coming back so it will be pretty late by the time we get back. I think the return trip is the part Judi is dreading the most as we won't have the promise of Disney to keep the kids in line on the plane :rotfl2:

Thank you! I am sure we will have a good time - just exactly how it all works out is still pending a bit ;)

Part 25 - Departure day
Always nice to get to the day when the ticker in your signature looks like this:
1 day left.jpg

Though I did cheat a bit since we get to San Diego tomorrow but not to Disney until Tuesday

While I tend to be organized with plans for trips we are not the same when it comes to packing - as we are still running around putting stuff together. Generally we work it that Judi puts together lists of what to bring and then we assemble that the day we leave and pack it, etc. Been a little less efficient today as Emma has been feeling needy so Judi didn't get to organize the kids clothes as much as she would have liked - leaving it to me to do the best I can with picking out what and how much of stuff for them to bring. On the plus side, we will have a car so if I forgot anything we can always buy it.

There is some fun to be had when packing for a Disney trip as you get to see all the Disney stuff you have to bring:
packing.jpg

As of now the packing almost done and looks like we will be able to get by with only checking one bag (since on the flight even first bags are $25) and still have room for bringing back souvenirs.

On the downside it has started raining so looks like I will be loading the car in the rain. Oh well - heading to CA where it is sunny (and hot) ... though does look like some rain coming later in the week.

Thanks for following along - I suspect there will be one more post here with the link to the TR once I get to start it. Don't expect to have time to post here during the trip but will likely post pictures to Facebook. If we aren't already friends on FB and you'd like to be - please PM me!

Phil! I feel so bad that I haven't been commenting lately. However, I promise I've been ready along with every update! Have a safe and wonderful trip and I'm so excited to hear all about it!
