Is it worth hoping for a walk-in reservation?

So, out of sheer luck I was able to snag a BOG reservation for dinner for this coming Monday. However, that is also the night of the MNSSHP and, while I really want to eat at BOG, I also don't want to take away precious party time (as I've been told that dinner at BOG can last up to two hours, including waiting around for Beast). We are planning on going back to MK on Wednesday however, and my original plan was to walk in to the restaurant that morning in order to try and get a reservation for that night (provided I don't get one on-line before). I wanted to get your guys opinion if you think this is a good idea.

I know walk-in is no guarantee that you can get anything, so I want to know what your opinion is. This is our first time going to BOG, but like I said, I enjoy not being tied down to dining reservations while at the MNSSHP. I haven't cancelled my reservation yet......

The chance of obtaining a same day walk up ADR at BOG are slim and none. But there is a chance you could snag a last minute cancellation. You won't know until that moment
Only you can decide what you want most. Personally I would not waste party time eating. But if you really want BOG this is the only guarantee you have right now.
Good Luck

I agree with Hopefully that the chances of snagging a same-day walk-up ADR is relatively low. You can always try (no harm in trying), but I would be more inclined to think you'd have better luck if you were to check online as frequently as possible. Especially the day before, when guests have to cancel to avoid being charged the no show fee. I would also keep an eye on the October 2015 Cancellation thread.

I'll be watching that thread closely, thank you! In the meantime, I am still going to hope for the best by keep trying the Disney website.

Keep checking online multiple times a day for a cancellation and you can continue checking on the day of. Dining reservations are made either online or on the phone, not at the restaurant, so walking up to BOG in the morning to see if you can book a dinner won't work. Save your time and energy and instead, keep checking online even on the day of for cancellations.

As far as TS dining during the party we would not do it. There are so many party exclusive activities to enjoy that we would not want to spend party time at the TS meal.

You could also try looking for a reservation for breakfast or lunch. Both are counter service, but require reservations because of the popularity of BOG. The 2 biggest differences between breakfast or lunch vs dinner are the Beast only appears at dinner and alcohol is available at dinner. If either of these are important keep trying for dinner, otherwise consider a breakfast or lunch reservation.

Thanks for the tip! I actually already made a breakfast reservation for the Wednesday, but like you say, I would really like to meet Beast, although that is not necessarily a priority. I'll definitely keep trying online.

This is certainly not the only character dining we will be doing on this trip that's for sure. We are going to Crystal Palace for breakfast on Monday (not too exciting since I am not a big fan of Winnie Pooh and I've also already done this on a previous trip), but its buffet so we can fill up! And we are doing Akerhus on Tuesday at Epcot, which is nice because then I won't need to make a special effort to meet some of the princesses since I will see them at dinner!

What time is your ADR- at the start of the party or later? We had a 5:05 on Sunday (our party night) and the dinner took about an hour and a half (including waiting a few minutes for the table, looking at the other 2 rooms and pics with the Beast). When we walked out- we got right in line for the 7D's since they are right there- it was about an hour wait for the M&G. While my DH waited in line- I took the kids to one or two candy lines.

I would not book dinner during a party. You will miss so much. I also have heard that Beast is not always there, so to me, this could be very disappointing.

We were there this week and I could not get a dinner reservation. I was able to get lunch twice and it was fantastic!

I am on the MDE at the moment and I decided what the heck, let me check on the reservation again, and there was an opening at 8:35 for dinner on Wednesday!!! I booked it, so I am so excited that we will able to be there for dinner. :)
