October is here!!! A Semi-live TR!!! Our Oct 7-14 trip to the world!

Have a great trip! Have more fun than is humanly possible!

she's going to be so excited when you finally reveal it!

I know! I can't wait!! Hubby almost blew it this morning when he said "I want you to call me after you check in at the airport" and she got a bit suspicious...because why??

and will end up seeing something extra special that you might have rushed by already.

What a wonderful way to look at it! And hopefully true!

Enjoy every moment and I hope the surprise goes off with out a hitch!

Thanks!! I'm thinking of actually putting a note in her carry on bag that says "surprise!! We are going to Disney World" and then I will ask her to look for something in right when we get to the airport...but then what if she starts looking in there before we get there....

Yeah DH and I had to google what to do with it.

I definitely would have done the moleskin wrong without the instructions. But it's moot because I couldn't find any at the pharmacy...I don't even know what it looks like but I looked in the whole band-aid/first aid section and found nothing. But I do have scissors with me so like you all said, I can get some at the gift shop if needed. And I have some special "blister healing" bandaids as well.

Can't wait to hear how the surprise goes!

Me too lol. I'm still trying to figure out how to tell her!

Today you're going to Disney!!!

Yeeehawww!! Can't wait! I'm so excited about the ME too because I've never taken it. I'm sooo glad I don't have to drive!

Have more fun than is humanly possible!

Thanks so much!!

Use moleskin all the time.... Apparently I have been doing it all wrong! Like not even close to right...

Hahaha... I have totally been doing it all wrong too. Usually - I put a bandaid over my owie, then I put the moleskin over the top of that. Works for me, and no need to be precise with my cutting... I have to do that enough in real life. ;)

D~

That's pretty similar to what I've been doing, either a bandaid, or some other barierr....And it works so I may stick to it....but I would be interested to try this way too.

I think I like your method better! I'll have to try that next time.

Well I'm looking out my window and I don't see you in DC yet. Maybe you went straight to the monuments or a meuseum ; )

Have an amazing time'!!!!!!!!!!!!

I missed your send-off, but if you happen to read this during some down time (yeah right?lol) I hope you HAVE A MAGICAL TRIP!!!!

I can't wait to read all about it!

Hi guys!! We are here at WDW!!! Chillin' in the room now so thought I'd give you an update on our travel day and day 1!! Also so I don't have to take notes lol :_)

Departure Day!!

First...I know what you have been waiting to hear about!! The surprise lol!! It was the best!! We were in a cab on the way to the airport, and I even lied to the cab driver...it was kind of funny!! And he was all, "Washington, that's great! and what will you do there?" and DD was listing off some things that we had talked about lol. I almost couldn't contain myself.

Then we get to the airport, and I know that I couldn't keep it from her through customs. We have nexus cards (a preferred traveller program with Canada and the US) that allows us to go through customs in a special quicker area...but there is a lady that checks to make sure you have a nexus card before letting you in there. So as I was handing her our cards, I also passed her a piece of paper and said "give this to my daughter". At first she was puzzled but then she read it and her face lit up because she helped to share the surprise!! She handed the piece of paper over and it said "Surprise! We are going to Disney World" !!! And she was all "what??? Really?????" And huge smile and jumping up and down and big hugs! A little crowd had formed around us by this point and even the serious business people who usually go through nexus were all happy. It was awesome!! So then we wanted to ask about all the plans and where we were staying and all that and I had to hustle her through customs and security saying "I'll tell you all as soon as we get to our gate".. It was a pretty cool surprise!!

Soon we were on the plane. There was one of those annoying guys in the row in front of us who did NOT stop talking for the entire flight! Ugh. And we were on a cheap flight with no seat back TV's....so I didn't even get to watch a movie...but that's ok..we were going to Disney!!!

We got off the plane and had to go to baggage claim (darn ME direct check through wouldn't work from Canada...sheesh...we might as well be aliens) But thankfully...by the time we found the right carousel at MCO, our bag was there so we didn't wait long. And we didn't have to wait at all for the ME bus to show up. AND pixie dust already...the whole bus was full except the very front seats!! So we had a great bus ride and were at POFQ asap!! One thing though - the bus driver said on the way home we have to get on the ME FOUR hours prior to our flight...because we are from Canada.....Ugh... that is just some crazy talk. So for our 11:45am flight...we have to leave at 7:45am...ugh. So much for a leisurely breakfast on departure day...oh well. Lots to do at MCO at least...

We got checked in at POFQ really quick - by a lovely CM from France. I said thanks in french, you know...we Canadians are all fluent ...ha now that's a laugh. Got our AWESOME room!! It's in building 6, right on a corner with a nice view of the river. Love it. I just love this resort...it's small and comfortable and not too far to anything.

We crashed pretty quickly when we got to the room that night....more to come in another post!!

Day 1

Calling this day 1 because travel day we arrived so late.

We decided to sleep in on day 1 (yesterday) as much as is possible...since we were doing MNSSHP last night. We slept until....7:45am lol. Shocking, right? But we were lazy and lounged around the room a bit before setting out in search of food. Went to Sassagoula Float Works for some grub. I tried the legendary Beignets. They were good....but I really didn't need three of them for myself and DD didn't want any....oh well. Not quite like the real NO...but some sugary carby goodness nonetheless. DD went with the kids chocolate chip pancakes with a side of bacon.

I couldn't believe the amount of people up and about at 8:00am. We are on vacation people!! Oh right...we are at Disney lol I know on some of our days we will be them...racing to catch RD etc...but when you step back...sometimes it looks a bit crazy lol...

Anyway...after breakfast we did a little exploring around the resort and when DD saw the pool...she had to go in. So we went back and got changed and swam. Well DD swam and I passed out on a pool chair lol. Glad she is a good swimmer! After swimming, we thought we'd try the boat ride to DTD...we had no plans to actually get OFF the boat...lol we just wanted to see what the ride was like. We did that and then the boat driver said that usually they don't let people just ride around on the boat, but since it was still early and no one was waiting at DTD he would let us. So we stayed on back to POFQ, and then we asked him if we could stay on to see POR. He again said not usually but OKAY. So we stayed on to POR. Then he made us get off. So we looked around POR and DD wanted a hair wrap so we did that.

I can not believe how crazy HOT it is here right now!! I know it's Florida but somehow...I didn't think it would be this hot...gah. I was glad we weren't actually at the parks yet...because...sweating!! After DD's hair wrap, we took a quick stroll around POR and then walked back to POFQ. Along the trail back, a lovely CM in a golf cart asked us if we wanted a ride!! It was perfect because we didn't want to get tired out before the halloween party!!

We decided to grab some lunch at POFQ. I went for the tuna Po'boy and DD got the kids cheeseburger. Man the po'boy was HUGE. I remembered my plan to share meals...too bad DD and I rarely agree on anything!! But the sandwich was really good. DD's cheeseburger took FOREVER though...ugh.

We got dressed up for the party. And when I say "dressed up" I mean, DD put on her (pajama) princess dress, and we put some makeup on her and her hair in a bun, I put a black veil comb thing in my hair and some lipstick lol

Finally...it was time to go to MK for the party. DD was getting impatient but I told her if we wanted to have the energy to stay late and see the parade and fireworks, we couldn't go too early...but you know kids...they don't always get the logic lol. Got to MK about 2pm....there was a huge crowd at bag check...uh oh. It seemed very crowded to me...which was a bit unexpected because we always come in March and I thought THAT was crowded. But even though the walkways were packed...the ride wait times weren't actually too bad!!

Here's what we did first...Peoplemover!!!!! It was DD's choice, I swear lol. But I didn't mind at all of course. I could ride that thing all day!!

AFter that, we had FP Peter Pan, then we did small world, haunted mansion, FP for Winnie the Pooh, then Ariel, then dumbo with no wait!!

At this point...DD's feet were hurting. Note to self: never listen to your kid when she wants to wear anything but running shoes to the park! I know..wouldn't have gone well with her princess dress but...still bad idea. I even asked her if I should bring her flip flops just in case, but she swore her black ballet flats were comfortable. Kicking myself again even as I type this.

Anyway....we popped in to Big Top Souveniers and were ogling the cake pops...when DD says that actually her feet were really hurting. Uh oh. And I hadn't brought her flip flops. Luckily...they did have some for sale at not too highway robbery prices...so we picked up a pair, along with a Mike Wazaowski and a Jack Skellington cake pop...yum!!

Flip flops saved the day....except...it was so hot that DD's feet kept slipping out of them....so she kept having to stop and put them on again...and by the end of the night...her feet were dISGUSTING!!! and very sore as well...oh well..lesson learned. Runners for the rest of the trip.

Now it was time to go pick up our tickets/wristbands for MNSSHP. I had thought that we'd have to boot all the way back to the front gate but thankfully they had a wristband pick up spot in tomorrowland which was awesome.

After that we had one more FP to use for Tomorrowland speedway. I don't know if I remembered this right - but this time, the steering wheel was on the right - so backwards. Are all the cars like that? I will have to check because...though I remember being not so great at driving those cars (despite having a drivers licence lol) I always thought they were on the proper side lol. Then we went on peoplemover and Carousel of Progress.

After that...guess what? Peoplemover again lol then we hit up Jungle cruise Haunted mansion again.

Then it was almost time for the halloween part to actually start. We hit up Peter Pan for a meet and autograph. Then went to CHH for a quick dinner before the party. I had the lighthouse sandwich, which was awesome...but again...too much food. DD had the kids chicken nuggets.

Next up, Trick or treating. The lines for this were quite long but moved quickly. Although I have to say..DD was all about collecting MORE candy...but I was all "let's go on rides, there are no lineups, you can get that crap anywhere" But she wasn't having it. So we lined up for candy. and did it again and again.

Then people started finding seats for the parade...at 7:30pm. I'm just not the type to try to stake out a spot that early. So we went to try the candy corn ice cream :) Yum!!! Really tasted like vanilla...but I liked it.

We then decided to try to find a spot for the parade. Good. Luck. Finally we found a less densely packed area near the entrance to adventureland and parked it there. I was practically sitting under someone's mammoth stroller but so be it...I was sitting and didn't care. The parade was a lot of fun. I especially liked the haunted mansion dancers!

After the parade...we were tired...but decided to try for a few more rides. We did Buzz lightyear and you guessed it...poeplemover again :)

After that...DD's feet had had it...we started walking to the exit and saw a bit of the fireworks on our way out....and just got to the bus stop in time!!! Wahooo!!

It was an amazing day...though I could have done without the sore feet complaining lol.

Sounds like a great start to your trip, shoes aside ; ). Love your surprise. Hope the remainder of the trip is magical!

I loved reading about your Party time! I simply cannot WAIT to go in almost a year from today! Sounds like you got a lot of things done at the party and had a ton of fun! YEAH, shoe issues suck! :(

Hope the remainder of the trip is magical!

So far so good!! It has been pretty awesome!!

Sounds like you got a lot of things done at the party

We did. Although it was a bit of a battle between me wanting to take advantage of short wait times for rides and her wanting to trick or treat...sigh...but it was a lot of fun!

either reminding DD to make better choices, or to defend your own wise choices if she calls you out on being "lame" like my daughter does, lol! I'm glad that you are happy with POFQ - it was my second choice,

Yes. So a win-win lol We are very happy with POFQ...love it. I would definitely stay here again.

We are back at the room at a reasonable hour tonight...because we have a super early am planned for EMH at DHS tomorrow. So why not a little update :)) Can you tell I'm a little OCD? No but really...I like doing updates when I can...because that way I can remember the whole trip when I get home too!!

Anyway...so this morning, we were pretty wiped out from the party last night. As I mentioned...we managed to sleep in until oh...almost 8am lol. We hung around a bit and ate breakfast in the room. I did end up ordering some cereal and bottled water from Garden Grocer. What a cool service. I would definitely use them again. We got ready and headed out to MK at about 10:30 am or so. Now I know everyone tells you that you should leave like 1 1/2 hours before you actually want to be anywhere when using Disney transportation. And I'm sure in some cases that is true and you need to plan for the worst when you have ADR committments and such...but...knocking on wood so I don't jinx us...so far we've been really lucky with the buses and it hasn't taken long at all. We got to the bus stop and a MK bus was just pulling up and off we went. We were at MK by 11:00am and on the Peoplemover lol by 11:15am :). We then walked towards Fantasyland where our first FP was for Peter Pan. We took a ride with Ariel and then went on Peter Pan. Oh by the way...in case anyone was wondering....whether or not we'd go on 7DMT. I had two FP's booked for it in case DD decided she wanted to do it. One was for today...and yesterday she told me no, she still doesn't want to do it. So I was able to change it out for another Peter Pan FP because that and Haunted Mansion are her absolute faves. I'm still debating whether or not to keep the one I still have for our last day at MK....I may try to use it for talking Mickey instead...or something else...not entirely sure. I kinda want to go on 7DMT myself...but not sure I should leave my 9 year old standing there while I do it?? Hmmm...dilemma.

Anyway...moving on...after Peter Pan...we had some lunch at Pecos Bills. DD had the chicken fajitas and I had uncrustables lol. And the half of DD's fajita that she didn't eat lol. After lunch, we headed back to tomorrowland for Stitch's great escape and Monsters Inc...and then we had a FP for Buzz. Our scores sucked but we had fun and both beat our scores from yesterday so that's something. We had some ice cream and sat in tomorrowland terrace and there was some show going on at the castle (blashphemy I don't remember the name of it lol...but it was some good entertainment while eating ice cream)

After Buzz we went on Winnie the Pooh, IASW and Haunted Mansion again and then we had a FP for Jungle Cruise so we did that. By this point, we were pretty tired and it was approaching the kick out time for those of us not going to the party that night. We wandered through the shops on main street a bit. I got a special halloween pin and a phone case with the castle on it which is pretty cool. Then on our way out we saw that the Tinkerbell meet had just a 10 minute wait so we decided to do that. Then we walked out with the masses getting kicked out for the party.

We weren't sure what to do for dinner so we decided to take the monorail over to the Poly. I wanted to see Trader Sam's so we took a chance that there might be room...there wasn't...but we got to see the room anyway....it is quite small but pretty neat. We ended up sitting on the patio just for a drink which was nice, while we pondered dinner. I got a rum drink in a shrunken skull souvenier cup which is pretty cool. DD got a fruity (non - rum) drink in a souvenier cup too...she wasn't a fan of the drink...but liked the cup anyway.

There was no chance in hell of getting a walk up for Ohana or Kona (I mean, I had been trying for months online but...you just never know...so I did ask. They almost laughed at me) But anyway...they did say that around the corner from Kona you can actually get the full Kona menu at the bar by the window with a view of the monorail! So why not??? So that's what we did. DD had a kids cheeseburger. I got this antipasto plate thing and also had to have the sticky wings. Both were really good.

After dinner we weren't sure what the best way was to get back to POFQ was...we ended up taking the monorail back to MK and then a bus from there. It was pretty packed because people were still leaving in droves as the party got started...oh well..we made it. Just in time for a little swim and now chilling in the room.

So far it's been a great trip. My only complaint is how tired my feet are already and it's only day 2. Oh that and...I don't know how I did this, but I totally forgot to bring any socks other than the ones I was wearing on travel day lol. So. I actually wore a pair of dd's today and bought a 2 pack of Mickey socks at MK today lol and then washed my other socks and all dd's socks in the sink of our room this evening. I am just amused that I spent like 5 months planning this trip and I forgot to bring socks lol. Ooops. I guess it could have been worse and at least it was something easily remedied...and now I have 2 pairs of Mickey socks lol

OMG - you are there and doing huge updates!

I love the reveal - that was awesome! I'm so glad it worked out!

Feet do seem to be a recurring theme for you! Blisters, flip flops, socks....

Sounds like a great trip so far!

I'm so loving your "live" updates! What a great idea, not only to remember what you did (after you get home ) but so much fun for those of us sitting at home on the couch!

I absolutely love how you revealed the trip to your DD! She must have been over the moon!

Sounds like you are having an amazing trip so far!

Omg, you forgot to pack socks! Sounds like something I would do! Disney definately has a way of wearing the feet out, doesn't it? How has the weather been for you guys? We will be there this time next year
