we plan on being at epcot for rope drop just to check out future world. we have fast passes at hs for 10:25-11:25. can we walk through world showcase before they open to get to hs?

Yes. You can walk through to reach the International Gateway exit/entrance.

Keep in mind that it is a long walk and then the boat takes some time as well (you can walk it; it's faster!) so plan accordingly. To make it to HS by 11:25 I would be heading out of Future World (not Epcot) by 10 or 10:15 at the latest.

oh wow, good to know. i had no idea it would take that long. thanks for the heads up!

Well, it depends on your walking speed. World Showcase won't be that crowded, so you might make good time to the International Gateway (back entrance). Then there is the boat, which you may have to wait for. The boat stops at all 3 hotels in the Epcot Resort Area and depending on how many people are loading/unloading, the whole trip to HS can take 45 minutes or more (if it's dead it might be a little quicker). You can definitely walk faster than the boat, but it's a good distance (I think a little over 1 mile), so base that on your group's walking speed.

Another option if you want to save some time with the boats but not walk all the way to DHS is to walk to the Swan/Dolphin dock and catch the boat there. This is just a bit farther than the Int'l Gateway, and you'll get to skip the (long) stops at BWI and YC/BC.

Actually, and I don't know why I didn't think about this at all before, but there is a bus that will take you from Epcot to DHS from the front of the park. If you are in Future World it may be a faster option, though I do not know the frequency of the bus for that route that early in the morning. It would generally be faster than the Friend Ship (boat), but of course the wait time is the unknown factor. I have found that park to park busses can have a longer wait. The Friend Ships will definitely be running to service people at the resorts.

Also, I'll add, if you've never seen the Epcot Resort area, it is really quite lovely, so that route would be more fun that the bus if that matters to your plans.

good to know. this day has been rather hard to plan. we've never been to these parks before and want to do as much as our feet will allow. we want to check out epcot, not so much the rides, (which we will do if waits aren't crazy) go to hs for kids to do the rides there, check out a bit of food and wine, watch Hanson-mmmbop, see osborne lights, check out boardwalk, maybe illuminations. we are a pretty chill family, if it doesn't get done there's always a next time.

Have you considered doing DHS at rope drop, leaving after your FP, and then spending the rest of the day at Epcot? This is what we're doing in a couple weeks, considering DHS is mostly a half day park for many, and much more time can be spent at Epcot. I don't think I could kill a whole afternoon/evening at DHS. I also think it would be hard to do Osborne Lights AND Illuminationson the same day so I would pick one or the other. Lastly, I'd skip Boardwalk on this day. Boardwalk is only eventful at night and is dead during the day. Even at night, it's not much more than restaurants and shopping, and its the same kind of shops you can find elsewhere. Jellyrolls is fun but it's 21+. I'd save that for another day or another trip.

our first fp is 10:25 and last is 1:45 for hs. i suppose we could start at hs, do what we can, not worry about fp, and then head to epcot. good advice on boardwalk. epcot is open til 11 too thank you
