Hotwire car rentals

We are going to Disneyland next month and I am finding rental car prices way up in California. I also checked Hotwire.com for prices and many of the companies had prices about half of what they were going through a regular website, such as Alamo, National, etc. All of the companies at LAX are located off-site, so I don't think it really matters on time getting a rental car pick-up. Anybody have any experience renting through Hotwire? Some of the companies I never heard of, but many are well known brands. I know you have to pay up front with Hotwire. Any opinions?

I have used Hotwire on an least 3 occasions while attending WDW. Never had a problem with them, Hotwire is a legit agency. I even cancelled a reservation when I got a much better price elsewhere, no problems. You may also want to try Expedia.com, Priceline.com, and if you are a Costco member, often great options through their website. I haven't used Hotwire recently, as their pricing is not a competitive as it once was (at least at MCO), although I still always check their site. Good luck.

On my last trip to LAX, I used Hotwire, and got Alamo at a good price. Only thing I don't like about Hotwire is payment up front. But since you know that, I'd take the chance.

Ever tried www.rentalcars.com or www.happytoursusa.com ?
They include all insurance options + 1 additional driver.

I think its better than Hotwire or Priceline.
My opinion..

I did not know that you can cancel a reservation made on Hotwire. I guess I thought they were non refundable! I did just do a dummy booking to check the prices for our January trip and it came up with a super high price using Alamo, who does charge a $5 cancellation fee for greater than 24 hours and $10 fee for under the 24 hour mark. In all the car rentals that we have made, I have NEVER found Hotwire to be cheaper. I'm always shocked when people post they got a great deal there.
