hey disbrides!
Has any one hired an outside DJ or Band for Disney world wedding? I would really like a band ( I know the price is way more than a DJ) so I thought an Orlando based band might be more economical. Does anyone know of any or an estimated price?
Thanks everyone

I haven't seen anyone hire an outside band except for one couple many years ago. I think Disney does a lot to discourage it. For one thing, you would have to have your reception in a ballroom, and Disney will charge you a $1,550 fee.

I'd look on The Knot's Central Florida board, Wedding Wire, or any other general wedding site focused on the Orlando area for recommendations.

Thank you I spoke with our planner and she said because of our reception venue we would have to use a disney approved band so they will be sending me a list

Not sure about your reception venue but when I asked our planner about potentially having my band play at my wedding, she did not even hesitate and she said it would be no problem and no additional cost. I actually considered it because my whole band attended and they all drove to FL so they could have brought the equipment. But the logistics of setting up/breaking down and my desire for them to enjoy the wedding made me scrap the idea.

We ended up hiring the 3 piece Jazz Band thru Disney and for $1500, I would consider it a bargain. Try to get ANY band for that cheap anywhere. Our plan was for them to play upbeat jazz but mostly Pop/Rock standards that everyone could recognize. I picked most of the music and the “vibe” we looking for. With no singer we thought it would be mostly for background music, but our guests really got into them and there was much more dancing and singing along than I would have ever imagined. And we had a brunch reception with an older crowd. Of course I was also surprised by how much everyone drank at the reception, but that is a topic for another thread.
