Harry Potter opening?????

Can someone please tell me when Harry Potter is scheduled to open at US??

It is suppose to open in 2016, but there is no official date yet.

Not soon enough!! I am so excited for the WWoHP to be on the West Coast!! It's been too long since I've had a real butterbeer! mmmmm, so delicious!

It will be very interesting to see how Universal Hollywood handles the crowds. In Orlando, they have 3 options for on site hotels that allow for early entry. I'm very curious to know if they will have some kind of onsite hotel option.

BTW, I think there's a Harry Potter thread in one of the other California/West coast forums. I really think we need to consolidate and have a forum dedicated specifically to Universal Studios Hollywood. Just my 2 cents.

Yeah, I'm betting it'll open up by the end of March or sometime in April.
The fact that Costco's Annual Passes expire in March is highly suspect

.

I really want to go there before the opening since I imagine it'll be crowded for years afterwards with all the Harry Potter fans. No Disneyland wait-times, but I don't think it'll be like before.

I've heard rumors of mid-March, just in time for the Spring Break crowd. Definitely some time after the annual passes all expire, but not long after I'd guess. I can't wait for an actual date. I am one of those crazy Harry Potter fanatics who will be there on opening day even if I have to camp out on Citywalk all night the night before. I've been waiting for this moment since the Florida version was first announced years ago.

And about the wait-times...I wouldn't be surprised if the waits at least for the new Harry Potter stuff were super long for a few years. Think RSR and Carsland. That's what this has the potential for and it will gunk up the rest of Universal with longer waits, too, I think. But, on the other side of that, ticket prices will rise, so hopefully that'll even it out a bit.

DH and DS are planning a long weekend trip to see the new HP stuff. Ideally, looking at May but will hold off on booking flights until we know when the HP stuff will open. I will wait to make hotel reservations too, in hopes that we might be able to get a hotel that will offer an early entry option.

I am getting so excited and I am not even going on the this trip! LOL!

We stayed at the Sheraton Universal just down the hill from universal studios in 2012. Older hotel but decent, location was excellent.

Where did this date come from? I've been searching sites for dates, and everyone is saying mid-March. We are going to be in LA the beginning of May and hoping to be there when it is open.

Saw a rumor on another site that they will announce an opening date for WWoHP on Dec 8. Take it with a grain of salt.

They have to be getting ready to announce the opening date. "Spring" is too far off and some of us have flight/hotel reservations we need to make!

I haven't seen anything about the early entry but I have checked pricing for May, and found out that is a pretty pricy area of LA. I think the Sheraton Universal was going for $300+ or $350+ per night (cheapest rate) and that was without anything being offered for EE. Once the dates are announced I plan to check Costco Travel and Getaway Today for their pricing.

I guess a good follow up how far from Disney is universal? I have a May trip planned so was hoping to squeeze a day in for Harry if it was open!
