Wine and Dine 2015

2.5 miles for DW yesterday; 5 miles for me this morning. I'd planned to go longer, but something did not feel right, and I didn't want to chance it this close to the race. Upon post run inspection: I was right. Let's just say: keep those toe nails trimmed!

Got an email yesterday that our Magic Bands have shipped! Wonder what will be next: ME tags or race waivers?

I'm with you. I'm back up to 4 in race pace and will get up to 5 this week but am scared to go up to high and hurt myself before the race! My ankle is starting to feel the wear and tear of boots in the fall over sneakers so I may need to just start wearing my old sneakers to work and make sure the CEO isn't in haha.

I just caught up on over 20+ pages of this thread. It's been a busy few months.

To catch up, we're staying at POFQ through Race Weekend than moving over to OKW for the remainder of the week.

My times in runs have been staying fairly constant. Just switched to a 60 second run, 90 second walk with a constant 11:58 minute per mile time.

1/2 Marathon #8 for 2015 was 2 weeks ago. Plano Balloon Festival Half.
#9 is this weekend. Showdown 1/2 in Fairview, TX
#10 is next weekend. That Dam 1/2 in Lewisville, TX
#11 is W&D
#12 is Rock n Roll San Antonio
#13 is the Dallas 1/2
#14 & #15 are the New Years Double Double in Allen, TX.

Good luck to everyone!
Any other Half Fanatics on this thread? #11634 checking in.

I'm not a Half Fanatic yet, but I should qualify for Neptune this November. We are running our local Bass-Pro half-marathon on Nov. 1 and then W&D on Nov. 7 and then the White River Half Marathon in Arkansas on Nov. 21.

At the WDW races it is incredibly well managed. I noticed a lot of line jumpers at Avengers last year as well. I have never seen any line jumpers at WDW races. I'm not naive to think there aren't any ever but I know there are less at WDW.

We actually saw quite a few corral jumpers at this last Goofy at WDW. During regular corral entry it was closely monitored. We saw some people run out of our corral before the race started. BUT, once the race started and they began moving the corrals forward it was a free-for-all. We saw a lot of people running along the outside of the corrals and then jumping over up ahead.

I got my Magical Express tags last week, and also got the shipping notification for the Magic Bands yesterday as well. :)

Congrats on all the halfs! We ended up doing three halfs over four weekends last month, and it was TOUGH! But I did achieve my goal to finish 12 half marathons in 12 months! W&D will be number thirteen (just training runs and the Tough Mudder this month). My next running goal is to do all of the rD events at least once. Just missing Avengers and ToT, which I hope they bring back (not counting Paris; DL and WDW races are expensive enough!).

I saw more than one bib for corral P up in A this year.
Special people...

ETA: Thought I was posting this in the Goofy thread for some reason. That happened during last year's WDW half/full

Is the gift card that we get for W&D one that you can reload or add money to before using it up? I would like to add money and just carry that one (with the wrist band) and not have to carry cash. We are staying offsite most of the trip so can't charge to the magic band.

Pretty sure you can reload. I still have last years unused somewhere haha. $10 Disney money just sitting somewhere in my house.

Ariel484 - I just read your trip report from last year's Splash and Dash and now I'm worried. I am running this year's half (her first timed half) with my DBF and she is about 1- 1 1/2 minutes per mile slower than me. I wanted to run together to make it more fun for both of us and get pictures of us together, but now you have me re-thinking my strategy. She is already worried about slowing me down (which I totally don't care) and trying to keep up with me, but I told her it doesn't matter. I ran the 10k with my DH two days before I ran my first marathon and it didn't bother me. Maybe because I would train with him at his pace on my off days and then do my pace for my training runs? What to do....what to do. I guess I will start out with her, like you did with your friend, and see how it goes.

@Ariel484 IDK if it is just where you started but I've always been back of the pack (last 3 corrals) and the Parade Buses are already out every single time.

For Splash and Dash the balloon ladies actually passed me but it was after the sweeper location so it was great. I was about half a mile in front of them until I was 100% sure I wasn't going to be swept. I had some running buddies at the "safe" zone who saw me struggling and just started shouting your okay just walk crawl do whatever they aren't going to take you now. I started to cry at that. I had slipped off a curb and twisted my ankle among many other issues so I was just defeated but to hear I was "safe" made it all release pretty quickly.

Funny enough I ran the Avengers the very next week and was miles in front of the people who had shouted that I was safe at WD. I somehow pulled out a 14:50 run.

Yeah, I mean...running at that different pace just totally changed my gait and was not a good situation. We have run together for 5Ks and it's been fine but apparently anything beyond that was too long.

I'd definitely suggest making sure both of you agree on whether it's okay to possibly split up BEFORE the race begins - we didn't do that, which was a mistake because when we did actually split up we were a little bugged by what was happening. We just did the Disneyland races and for those we did the 5K together and ran separately for the 10K and half. I think that made everyone happier.

Normally I'm firmly in the middle or 1-2 corrals ahead of the middle. For Splash & Dash I dropped back from E to I to start with a friend.

Anyone notice that the welcome party is now at 35%? I have to say based on the reaction to the price on here and on fb, I'm a little surprised. I love to give Disney my money as much as anyone but $199 was just too much for me. Which is a shame because I was actually considering. I am going to be flying in solo that day and would have enjoyed the mingle and whatnot. They aren't really clear about it either, but the way it's worded made me think I would have to come back to the Expo Friday anyhow for the preview shopping hour which negated another benefit I would have appreciated (being able to sleep in on Friday).

Also - for $199, I can't think of a place more pathetic and with LESS ambiance than the HP Fieldhouse at WWOS.

Even the Pre-Race Taste is in a cool location.

I bet this event is limited to like 150 people or some ridiculously low amount, which would be the only way to explain a 35% purchase percentage.

I'm not sure about the rest of you but running has seriously jacked up my feet! I am dealing with what I guess is a corn. It's on the inside of my little toe, I guess it has rubbed against my other toe. It's been there for months and I think it started out as a blister. It doesn't always bother me a lot but sometimes, like today it hurts quite a bit, especially after I'm done running.
I'm hoping someone has some experience and possibly a remedy!?!

I don't have any suggestions on how to get rid of it, but maybe putting some moleskin on it will help it not get irritated?
