Cost of Internet

Thinking about ending my cable relationship with Verizon, as I want to cry every time I process a payment for nearly $200 a month with them. Can anyone tell me how much I can expect to pay for just a decent high speed internet service in NJ?

It's going to depend on exactly where you live. Call all of the internet providers in your city or town and find out what they charge.

Do you want cable, DSL, UVerse, etc.? AT&T is running a promotion for $15/month for a one year contract (Uverse) when bundled with another service (so TV or phone or possibly wireless).

What does that cover? I pay 140.00 for Cable TV (3 boxes), High Speed internet, and 2 separate phone lines. I don't get HBO or anything but get hundreds of other channels. I don't know if NJ has Optimum. I bounce back and forth between optimum and Verizon FIOS, when my contract expires and special pricing goes up then if they don't give me a decent price when I call I switch to the other- just repeat that every couple of years. House is now wired for optimum and FIOS so they just have to switch the boxes out and that's it.

I pay $209 a month. We have 1 DVR, 2 other boxes, no premium channels; internet; phone.
Internet alone would be $39.99 according to the breakdown on our bill. You should probably have a breakdown of your services and their costs on your bill too.

I have Comcast performance with free blast for 1 year and economy digital tv with one converter box.

The speed, even without the blast is plenty for streaming Netflix, etc on a tablet or roku.

$83/month, south jersey

This bundled package is actually less $ than internet alone. I think their idea is that if you get a taste of digital tv, you'll want to upgrade to more channels. The economy gets all the basics, nbc/abc/cbs, but not things like tnt/syfy. It does get Cartoon Network, Disney, History and H2 and a bunch of others. Anything I'm missing I can usually find on Hulu, Netflix or AmazonPrime.

Granted I live nowhere near South Jersey, but I pay $130/month for the highest speed internet plus HD Premium cable, one DVR and HBO. Granted, I had to call several times and negotiate to get this rate.

For high speed internet alone is close to $100. For me it is well worth the extra $30/month for cable plus HBO and dvr

I don't know about NJ specifically, but if you shop several providers, you should be able to find one in the $30/month range for a moderate speed. . . We pay exactly $68/mo for Comcast Xfinity INCLUDING Digital Economy cable and 4 tvs. . . I don't understand how so many households spend $150-200/mo for (granted they are faster or have more channels) similar services. . .

I have Comcast internet only and pay $39.95 per month. I had to negotiate with them to get them down to this price. I have heard others on here even get better rates.

I'm in nj and for internet only, I pay nowhere near $200.. The range of prices listed from others is accurate for this area also and you can find something decent in the $20-$50 range depending on how overkill you choose.
