When will I hear back?

So I just had my phone interview this week. She told me most people don't hear back until late October, but is that actually true? I hear a lot of people hear a lot sooner, and I'm thinking maybe they just say it will be a long time as a safety net so that people don't bug them if it doesn't come in immediately? Has anyone applied recently? How long did it take for you to get your result? Also, for whatever reason, I selected "low interest" on custodial when I really have no interest. I know, I know, bad move. I was nervous and worried so I didn't want to say no to anything. What are the chances of me actually getting custodial? Has anyone here gotten a low interest job before? She didn't ask me any questions about that one, whereas she asked a lot about the other positions, so does that mean anything? If she asked me a lot of questions about a couple specific roles, does that mean that they are really considering me for those? Sorry there are so many questions.

Also, HOW DO YOU DEAL WITH THE WAITING. IT'S ALL I CAN THINK ABOUT.

A lot of people do get low interest roles. Anything you didn't mark as 'no interest' is fair game, even if you didn't talk about it during the interview.

Some people hear in a week or two from an interview, some people really do wait until the timeframe they say. It's impossible to predict which category you'll fall into.

As far as weekends go, it's not impossible to get a notification on the weekend, but the vast majority of acceptances go out in 'waves' on weekday afternoons. Rejections are less predictable - sometimes they go out in similar waves, sometimes they appear at random times.

I can't answer how you deal with the waiting, but I can tell you this - the fact that you're "In Process" is a good sign. If they had found a reason to flush you, it would have been done fast. My daughter got her acceptance yesterday - 10 days after her phone interview. I've seen others at 21 days this year, and one said 8 days - If you look at the dashboard, it will tell you 11/12 is the last day. So, every day you're still in process is a day you MIGHT work for the mouse - something to celebrate. I know what you mean about the waiting though. I don't know how she stood it - it almost killed me, and I'm not even the one who gets to go!

My daughter applied but still has heard nothing, good or bad sign?

As long as her status online doesn't say "no longer in consideration," she still has a chance. Sometimes it can take them a few weeks or more to get to everyone, and there are a lot of factors that determine whether someone is accepted and into which area.

But if she applied a while ago and is still in the "submission" stage -- from what I recall from my application process last semester, the majority of those people on the FB group did not move on to the web/phone interviews.

Thanks for your reply. My fingers are crossed that she gets an interview but if not, she can apply when the applications come out next year right?

Yes just as long as she's still enrolled (they might've changed it so that recent grads can apply too?). A lot of people apply more than once before they're accepted.

Thanks for your reply, she'll still be enrolled. Will her dashboard show anything different or she'll just get a change of status in November?

Did she get a phone interview? Most people find out about the phone interview pretty quickly. However, if she didn't get one that doesn't mean she isn't going to but it could mean she's not on the top of the pile so to speak right now.

I did have a friend in my program that went from not hired to hired the week before we checked in! They had too many people end up not showing up or cancelling their program that about 20 people got called and offered positions the week before the 2nd to last check in. That was the Fall 2012 program if I have my program dates right. (I did Sept 2012-Jan 2013).

She hasn't even gotten the online interview. She turned in her application & hasn't heard a word.

They will send an email and update the dashboard status as well (to either In Progress if she gets an interview, or no longer in consideration).

My daughter did the web based interview this evening. She has a phone interview this Tuesday. I am so excited for her!!!!!

Just wanted to update... She waited 15 days after her PI for the acceptance to come. It came in her email @ 4
