Has Disneyland put MAJOR Restrictions on the DAS Recently?

A das is given at guest relations not the kiosks. If you were asking at the kiosks you were asking at the wrong place and no wonder they told you no. As for people asking your needs, the people on this board have lived going to Disney with a variety of disabilities. They often have tips and ideas that you may not have though of. For example it was suggested to me many moons ago that my husband request stroller as a wheelchair tag because he was pushing out daughters' stroller like a walker due to a back issue. I never would have thought to ask and it made life much easier for him.

No I went to City hall and was turned down. I then saw a kiosk and asked. They saw my need not my chair at the kiosk. I am very well aware of what I need to do. They only saw my chair. Not my other medical needs. When I asked at the kiosk why they are not giving out DAS anymore and explained why lines would be very difficult which had nothing to do with my wheelchair they gave me one.

I am sure I am going to have the same issue again. Whatever happens we will try our best to enjoy the park. Some needs are extremely personal and embarrassing to talk about. If some one truly cared they could PM. But to publicly announce these are the areas I struggling in is so demeaning. Sorry. Really would you want to talk about extremely embarrassing issues to a full board of people. Maybe some sensitivity would help. Instead of the Wheelchair users to not apply.

My point is please see the person and not the wheelchair. However, even on this board no one is seeing what I am saying.

To be very honest one of the reasons I hardly go to this board anymore is how people do not read what is written and make demeaning assumptions. This board tends to push people away more than help. I pop in once and a while but mostly avoid the disability group.

Yes I can figure out how to deal with what causes issues in line for me does not make it pleasant or easy. There are ways to get on many rides and it works depending on the wait.

I think part of the issue in this specific thread is that people are mixing up what you, @Belle1997, wrote and what the OP @TheMoreUKnow, wrote.

The OP posted that their father had gone to two kiosks to inquire about the DAS. You jumped in 14 posts later and said something about having to meet up with your husband in line. I think things got a bit muddled after that.

Don't worry about posting your specific needs to anyone here...no one here can say whether or not you will be issued a DAS, the only person who can do that is the CM you speak to at either City Hall or the Chamber of Commerce. Anything posted here is really just speculation.

Absolutely nobody HAS to share any details of their/family/friend's needs here. Some people feel very comfortable sharing such information; others prefer to keep it more private than sharing on an open public forum. We do often get people posting "my DD uses a wheelchair, how does the DAS work?" and now that the DAS specifically does not cover mobility needs, it's often important to clarify what "other" needs a guest may have. Again, no requirement to share but ability to assist is limited without understanding the needs. There also is sometimes confusion after a thread gets to be several posts long, confusing who was the OP and who else chimed in with similar information. Everyone tries to be helpful and share their experiences and knowledge. Sometimes it may be useful, other times it may not be as relevant. I certainly hope most readers are able to take what information they find most helpful and ignore what doesn't fit their situation as it may be helpful to someone else.

Thank you for posting this. I agree. Here on the disABILITIES Forum we can only offer advice and share our experiences.

At Disneyland they can issue a DAS at the kiosks. I have had one issued there before and this last time I had it issued at the one in the hub but was told that I no longer qualified for one.
If you have an annual pass for Disneyland the DSA is on your pass and you might not know that it dropped off. I went to the first kiosk I came to after entering the park and was told that my DAS had dropped off my pass. This happened to me once before and the CM just told me that sometimes they drop off. This time I was told they drop off after 60 days. Thr CM at the kiosk will just ask you why you need a DAS again.

You said in your previous post you went from one kiosk to another, hence my response that you need to go to city hall. I never said people need to know your entire medical history but information like I need to be able to need line quickly or I need to be able to regulate my body temperature can lead to people saying I have a similar need and this is what I do.
Maybe if you are so angry that people don't read what is written you should write what you mean. I do find in life that the attitude I give off is often the attitude returned to me. Maybe there is a reason you find the board less than helpful when others find it extremely helpful.

I said my need for DAS was not mobility related. Meaning the chair is my legs. I have other medical needs that has nothing to do with why I do not walk. That is the biggest problem people in wheelchairs have. Yes I can move my chair through a line but that does not mean I am able to stay in the line for very long due to other medical issues. Some People see the chair not the person. I am not going to tell people my personal issues on a web page. I actually had an issue the last time I went. They did not listen to my needs. They just saw my chair. I went to another Kiosk and ask why they were not giving out DAS anymore. I told them what my needs were that had nothing to do with my chair. They did give me one. So I am extremely nervous going again. Because I want them to see me not my chair.
Eighth sentence - I went to another kiosk - this indicates that you started at one kiosk and went to another. If you had said I went to city hall and then a kiosk that is a different situation. So reading what you wrote one would see it as you went from one kiosk to another.

I think people need to take a break this is a really long thread and as a PP said some people were replaying to the OP when another person jumped in. I do agree that for the most part people on here are very helpful and saying I have this problem even being broad about it can help and lead to ideas but every one has there right not to talk about there disabilities I have one that I will not talk to any one about not even my mom who I am very close to I just can not do it

I do not know what your point is but it is possible that the PP misted typed

I think for the most part the DAS is good and that people who use it know what to expect but like with every thing in like there can be slight change from one person (cm) to another and that will happen some times

If she is going to accuse people of not reading what she writes and jumping to demeaning conclusions she should at least read what she wrote.
