Best way to make extra payments

Hi all! I'm not sure where best to put this question but here goes:

We just purchased direct from Disney about 15 days ago and I just made my first DVC payment. Technically our first payment isn't due until December but I wanted to get a jump on that interest (I like numbers, I hate interest.I'm one of the crazy people that recalculates the amount of interest/total cost of loan changes after each extra payment).

I have sent in my paper work for automatic withdrawal; it will start in December but they only take out the required minimum payment. I plan on paying more than the minimum each month and our DVC cast member said the only way to do that is to pay manually

I made the payment via the DVC site, and it took over 10 minutes for the site to accept the payment. Is this normal? Is it easier to call the number and have them do it? Thanks!

10 minutes is probably shorter than the hold time to call in.

I do it all the time on the site and although it seems to take a long time for the site to show you that its accepted it usually registers right away where ever I am taking the money from. Before the Website was fully functional I used to call in any extra payments. The last time I did it was to pay my original OKW loan. The woman gave me the payoff amount, I gave her my info but about a month later realized she somehow applied it to maintenance fees instead. Very annoying since I wasn't paying interest on those fees. Long story short = now I always pay on the website and double check everything myself right away.

I've also noticed that the site doesn't always recalculate correctly. If you make larger payments the site might show a correct table but when I made a bunch of smaller ones it appeared like I had an ever growing final payment. The reality is that you get charged correctly it just doesn't make a whole new table. So no worries. Hope this makes sense.

If you call member Accounting, they can tell you how to have more deducted from your account each month as long as it is consistent. I have always had more than the minimum payment auto withdrawn since we've had our loans with Disney. Saves time and frustration from dealing with the website....

The website just made me a liar - LOL. I just made an extra payment and it processed it in a couple of seconds. First time that ever happened.
