Universal needs to stop playing follow the leader in price and should lower it a little to attract Disneys newest price hikes.

Oh I agree. If Universal did that and some competitive ticket pricing they might be able to get a good bite of Disney's business.

Part of the following Disney in the price increase department is the notion if it's less expensive than Disney that somehow Universal is a "lesser" experience. That definitely seems to be the case in the 1 day ticket price. Although a couple of year ago Universal jumped first in the price increases.

TRUE. You're right on that end. But I'm sitting here after I renewed my Universal AP thinking I got a bargain in comparison to what I would pay for it at Disney.

You want to feel like you got the deal of a lifetime. Compare the price to the new prices at Disneyland. An annual pass good for all year (no blackout dates) is $1049 to the 2 parks. Now it does include free photopass. But still, $1000 for 2 parks. If you're willing to forgo the 2 weeks around Christmas and other "peak day" although I don't see and others the price drops to only $849

Thankful today for the free parking that comes with my AP ::yes:: .

Now that they've taken the time to update the website with the updated parking information, I wish that Universal would devote some resources to updating the monthly passmember benefits to those for October :rolleyes2 .

I agree. It seems like it takes 7-10 days to publish. I have gone on plenty of trips where I have no idea what our benefits are in the beginning of the month.

Hey, we did get a fancy logo though.

The fee to park at a Loews hotel is separate from the fee to park in the ramp for the parks, right? I'm debating upgrading to an annual pass in November on the last day of our visit to Universal and I assume I'll still have to pay to park at the hotel per night even with an annual pass, right?

Yes, they are talking about parking at CityWalk. You pay the hotels for parking there, they are not owned by Universal, and there are no AP discounts for hotel parking. Also, you cannot park overnight at CityWalk.

What is a deal or not a deal depends on what is important to you as a consumer. I don't really need or want photo pass so that's not a plus for me. Also not interested in going around Christmas too crowded. I also when I was going I have a tendency to go to only two parks Epcot and MK. And Figure how many days I have to go to make that deal advantageous. Figure about $100 dollars a day. So for Disneyland about 8 days maybe 7. Now if you are a local that might be an easier jump to make. The farther away you live you have to factor in hotels, food and the cost of getting here. And for some that's still a deal

I don't want to feel like I got a deal. I DO feel like I got a deal. No blocked dates, free parking (at least at the park), Discounts at restaurants, hotels and gift shops. Some feel that Disney is still an incredible deal and they are not wrong. It is a deal for them. Some might think $1000 bucks is coming out cheap or that $849 is. I think that WDW is better at offering different passes for what you are willing to pay and gives you more leeway for what you want or don't want. (Gold, Silver, after 4) at least for Floridians.

Sorry about the long post and way off topic comments.

Do you think this means they'll change the price of the AP's that include the free parking? We haven't bought our AP's yet for our trip at the end of November, thinking the price wouldn't raise before then. We're planning of doing 4 of the basic AP's and then 1 of the next level up, to get the free parking.

When in doubt buy now. They are not active until first visit through the gate.
