Just got back from a fabulous August trip with DD & DGS and already booked another! My first solo trip for the second week in December.

I thought I would take it easy and not book any FP+ this trip. Then I started looking at all the tour options, I want to do them all.

I'm leaning towards the Holiday D-Lights Tour, what better way to get in the holiday spirit.

I may also do the KttK tour. Then there is the Wild Africa Trek and Epcot's new WS tour.

Any feedback on tours?

Also wanted to see Cirque de Soleil and take a DVC tour!

I am going at the end of the month for a week and I also don't think I will have time to do everything I want to do and I haven't even booked any tours.

I did Behind the Seeds this past August, 10 yr old DGS loved it. For this trip I went ahead and booked Holiday D-Lights, get to see the castle light up, lights at HS and have a spot for the Candlelight Processional. I made a touring plan with FP+ for my first day, tour the second and will wing it the last two. I don't want to overplan, may sneak in a DVC tour in there (there I go again with the planning)

I just finished a 4 day solo trip. For me - 4 days is no time at all. I wouldn't suggest more than one or two special events - events - tours, Cirque, etc - suck up A LOT of time. And the DVC tour - that also takes longer than expected - probably 2 hours (though they say 90 minutes). So - one tour - that's good, IMO.

I WOULD make your FPs+ and maybe an ADR or two, though for your other two days. You can always cancel/change those! This last solo trip - I probably used half of my FPs. I managed to cancel a couple of them in advance to release them to others, but there's no penalty for not using a FP!

I did the Backstage Tour solo last year and had a great time. I only felt awkward while at lunch because I had nobody to sit with, but you just end up making friends with people on the tour. Doing Wild Africa Trek and Keys to the Kingdom tour the second week of December. Really looking forward to it. I have so much planned already, not sure if I'll be able to make it to everything.

How do you even book a tour? It sounds like so much fun!

Call 407-WDW-TOUR to book a tour. They'll give you prices on how much a tour is because some of them vary by season, but you can also go to the My Disney Experience page and read about the tours under the Things To Do category. There are a lot of choices.

Thanks!! :)

I've done 4 days solo, once, and it just wasn't enough time. In my defense, it was last year for F&W and silly me thought I'd just do the other parks in the morning and spend my afternoon/evenings at Epcot. I booked a big seminar, a food/wine pairing dinner and picked up a couple of the little $15 seminars and found my days were just so full (and my tummy) from those I didn't get to enjoy actually walking around to the booths and just enjoying WS. This year I did 5 nights and 6 days and it still wasn't enough. I've done most of the tours, like others, I wouldn't recommend you do more than one, they are fun and I've enjoyed every one I've done but they do take a chunck out of your day. This last trip I didn't book a single FP in advance until the night before and the only ADR I had was tea at GF. I managed to pick up every ride I was interested in the night before, I'm an early riser so I would unintentially make rope drop just because I was up and even just doing mornings at the other parks other than Epcot rode everything I wanted. I've found when I go solo it's more about taking it easy, just walking around slow and really looking at things, spending more time enjoying my resort, etc.

I only booked one tour, will do another one on my next solo trip. Just saw they are now taping Christmas Parade Nov 10-13 instead of when I will be there. A little bummed about that but glad I won't have to plan around it for my MK days now.

We did the Holiday D-Lights tour the second year it was available so I think they had a few kinks to work out. The great thing about the tour is it's made for someone in your situation. You want to see everything on a very small time frame. We started off at Epcot and did the Candlelight Processional, then went to the MK to see the castle lighting. By the time we got there the castle was already lit so we literelly walked in the MK, got to Main Street to look at the Castle. Waited for the rest of our group to catch up and left. We were in the MK for about 5 minutes. Then we went to the back stage Christmas warehouse thing. They showed us how they put the lights on the Castle which was cool to see and then walked us around the warehouse of Christmas decorations. But since it was during Christmas and the decorations were up in the parks the warehouse was pretty empty. Then we went to The Osborne Lights and finished up the tour there.

You get little headphones and backpacks so you can hear your tour guide as you're walking through the parks. You also get a special limited edition pin. The tour guides were very good but the only way I would do the tour again is if I was really pressed for time and wasn't able to get all three parks done by myself while I was there. Since this is the last year of Osborne Lights I have to assume it's the last year for the tour too.

Have fun!
