Did Disney just price out Florida Residents

Not necessarily. Pretty much, the Gold pass is about the same as the former AP was. It only blocks out Christmas/New Year's and Easter. All the rest of the benefits are the same. And then you get the included parking with ALL the passes now (included Seasonal - now Silver - and even EPCOT after 4 gets parking included) plus Gold and up all get the free photo downloads for the life of their pass.

The gold pass currently for FL RES (or DVC) has the same $112 down payment (based on the single day admission) and then is still $38.something a month on installment. (We currently pay $37.something) When we renew, that's probably what ours will renew to. The only difference are those high capacity weeks blocked out. Not ideal, but we now get the free photos instead. So we are happy.

I currently have the non blackout date tickets. So for me I would need to pay almost $100 or so more to get that. They are going to justify it by saying they are going to give me free pictures? Seems like a raw deal to me and it makes me wonder if Im going to eliminate my AP all together...

They needed to clear more AP bodies out of the park those weeks to clear space to sell more of their crazy expensive, and soon to come, peak priced tickets.

I have that pass too.

My friend went on her honeymoon NYE last year. She said basically the fireworks are awesome (I can see from home) but that even Spaceship Earth had over a 3 hour wait. Does that sound like a day you would want to be there? Is that worth $100 to you?

If you want to ditch your pass, that of course is up to you. But I wouldn't fight that parking situation for that crazy time even when I HAVE my free and clear pass with no block out dates right now. (And you still do, too, through the life of your current pass.)

We went to SWW on Mem Day Sat and a few other weekends in June, and it took us 45 min to get out of Hollywood Studios. That was not NYE or capacity. I'll be hanging out at home or hanging out at the resorts that time, not fighting bag checks and praying just to survive through the Main St. Train Station Tunnel without being crushed.... :D

So you can be unhappy about it, of course, that is up to you. Or you can go about 49/50 weeks out of the year and enjoy the same benefits of coming or going for about what a pack of gum costs per month.....

They are welcome to clear this body out *lol* I don't want to be smashed into the fireworks aftermath. Not to mention the monorails/ferries back to TTC!

It is 4 weeks first of all. Im not going over on NYE but as a FLorida resident i do frequent those blackout times. I work at a college where I have those holidays off so when I have family and friends in town its always a nice thing to do. We are losing just under 10% of our days for $100 more...
