ARGH! I seriously JUST bought APs yesterday for a trip that begins on December 17, which is the beginning of the blackout period! Since I bought under the 'old' system, am I OK?
The first I heard of it was last night west coast time on Twitter, but the only solid info I could find was that the coast-to-coast-super-duper-I-can't-remember-the-name AP was going up $400, I didn't find out about anything else until it was said and done by this morning (and by that time last night the wdw ap site was down and apparently the DL ap site went down at some point last night as well). Were there any rumors about price increases? If so, I missed them. But I like the new Gold Pass features so I am sort of glad I didn't know - I may have bought the old passes as a precaution and then been disappointed.
The premier pass is still available, for the bargain price of $1439 +tax. We will not be buying these, $6k for a family of four is insane for park admission. Is it me or did the option for a pass that works in both WDW and WDL go away?

People who bought APs when they were first offered and have continued to renew every year since are considered to be "charter" AP holders. There aren't too many of them, but charter AP holders get special rates. The format was confusing but I figured most of it out. "Renewal" and "new" make sense, what is a "charter" pass?
Ugh! That's a 50% increase in the cost of TiW! I just bought mine last week for $100. At least I'm okay for the next 13 months. The CM put the expiration date at the end of November since September was almost over when I made the purchase. I'll have to give it a lot of thought before I buy the next one. It could take more than 2 trips for TiW to be worth it for us..HI! just spoke to a CM as we are planning a trip in two weeks and were planning to upgrade passes. They mentioned a price increase to TIW. New price is $150. Already purchased PhotoPass / Memory Maker cannot be applied to cost of upgrade. LOTS of Black out days.
I agree that it adds value IF you would have purchased MM for each of your visits. And with the recent increase in parking fees, the free parking is also more valuable.I like the change. I like that now I can get all my photos from each visit without spending $169 per visit. It's totally worth the increase to me.
